did you watch the Oxford match?

That formation would be suicide.
Absolutely no fucking chance of us ever fielding such a rediculous side and formation.
We’d be hammered out of sight after 20 minutes.

Yep, as I said it’s fairly unique, but so was Southgates formation at the WC and this isn’t too dissimilar. We have a plethora of attackers, why not use them? Technically Bayliss and Andreu are better than L1, what other formation plays them in their favoured positions? Defenders at every level are scared of pace, we have pace throughout the team that we should use to exploit defenders. I doubt you’ll find many full backs with pace, positioning and defensive ability in L1.

The formation obviously has flaws, and I’m by no means saying it’s the answer, but I’d prefer to lose while trying to win, than lose while trying not lose (although obviously I don’t want to lose at all).

MR is a cautious manager, last season was the exact same for the first third of the season. Hopefully he’ll realise he needs to be attack minded again, in whatever formation he implements.

Also, not sure what rediculous means.

I do have a feeling things will begin to click soon, starting with today. It won't be perfect nor pretty, but it will be 3 points.

Come on City. Luckily Austria is an hour ahead and we tend to have break at 4ish(here) for a couple of hours back at the hotel. Will be following closely!!!

I'd go for this -

the 4 attacking mids would all have to get back as well, especially Sterling. Then Bayliss can free up some room in the middle while he drifts wide.

I'd rather play Thomas in his position in the right than put sterling there

It's worth considering that when he played his best football in Scotland, Andreu actually was a striker in a two-man partnership. I'd be more than happy to play him up front in a 4-4-2 with Hiwula making runs for him to find.

Something like this...
Burge
Grimmer - Davies - Willis - Brown
Bayliss - Kelly - Ogogo - Shipley
Andreu - Hiwula

Same formation I suggested and was ridiculed for, but I agree we have to go attacking and it accommodates our two most creative players in their favoured positions.

That makes more sense if he plays the #10 place. We can't really play 3 attacking mids out of 4 as that leaves Kelly / Doyle / Ogogo on their own which certainly doesn't work if its Kelly or Doyle and I doubt would work with Ogogo.

Of course if that is the role for Andreu it makes you wonder why Robins was so keen to get Chaplin in.

---------------Burge
Grimmer - Willis - Davies - Brown
------------Ogogo - Doyle
Bayliss - Andreu - Allissani/Shipley
------Bakayoko / Hiwula

Play people in mostly their correct positions. If it pisses strikers off then so be it but Robins shouldn't have signed so many if we only play with one.
4-2-3-2 would be great, but I suspect the refereee and the oppositon might have something to say about it :)

Out of 28 goals last year 6 were from the penalty spot

I may be wrong but up to Christmas last year in L2 he had only scored 7 goals and 2 were against Wycombe on 22/12 - Plenty of time for current players to improve but would be nice to have a few goal scorers now!
Whoosh!

No Davies or Allasani. Want to see Willis and Davies together. Not sure selling ROD was smart.

Hivulla out wide again.

Have faith today it clicks.

Another completely bizarre selection. He said he’s going to do something about strikers playing on the wings and does exactly the same with 2 wingers Thomas and Shipley on the bench and Allassani not even making the squad

No JCH again? Not a bad thing as he’s a waste of a sub, but it raises questions as to why we signed him.

Hopefully it’s a catalyst to re start his career.

It makes the random midweek stuff strange as well as he has just reverted back anyway.

Strange how he also randomly praised jch midweek and not even on the bench
