Austrailians/Aussie accent - Sort of urgent (1 Viewer)

Anyone actually know any Austrailians (conactable by early tomorrow am UK time) or anyone who can do a very good Austrailian accent (not just a 'I'm throwing a shrimp on barbie' or Crocodile Dundee style voice) ?

It's for my daughter for a feature film. Dropped it on us last minute. Her US accent is brilliant, but her Aussie one is .... well pretty lousy. She isn't even down on her Spotlight profile that she can do an Aussie accent, but the film production people really like the look of her, as she would play the younger version of an adult actress and she does look quite a bit like the adult Aussie actress.

My daughter has a self-tape to do and it needs sending off tomorrow morning-ish.

What I was hoping for (in an ideal world) was that an Aussie somewhere could voice record one of the lines in an Aussie accent for us and then my daughter can learn it from there.

Her best friend has an Aussie online friend, but she's not available and I believe it is now the early hours over there isn't it?

Doesn't google have a "text to speech" functionality on android? No idea if Aussie is covered...

Must be a fair bit of digital media around to mimic Otis.
Nicole Kidmans Australia would be a good source.

Yeah, she's doing that, but would be nice to hear the sentence.

i.e., one word is 'spontaneously.' Can't find any Aussie saying that. Well she can't anyway. I haven't looked properly yet.

If it was all just common words we would just pick them up off normal chat on YouTube etc.

Just looked and I can't find it either. One single word incorrectly could scupper it. They are pernickety barstewards!

Not much help but go out there quite often and after about three days end up sounding like one myself.

What I have noticed is that they give a bit more inflection to their words as they come to the end of their sentance. Almost like they are asking aquestion.
One of the best Aussie accents is on a guy on 'Demolition Man' which is on Quest. He has a good to honset Melbourne accent.

Cheers for all the tips. Picked up a few things and luckily my daughter's best friend's friend in Australia came through for us this morning and sent us a voice recording of the whole sentence we were looking for.

Now off to film it and send it in.

Bloody hell, Ranjit!! Do you have a 6th sense or something?

Those are the EXACT lines she had to do, except for it was Ned rather than Clancy and a well instead of a mineshaft, but still.

THAT is uncanny.

I had a go at pebbledashing with them once.

Quite impressed with the results to be honest and my aim was pretty true.

Yes they are, can't you read?


They are the exact, same lines word for word. Except those tiny little bits.

Why do you have to be so nit-picky? Does it really matter if it's Ned instead of Clancy and that the kangaroo is really an 11 year old Asian boy who walks with a spring in his step?

I added the bit about the well too. He fell (she) down a stair rather than a well.

Other than that, word for word.

Close enough for me Otis. And the word 'except' was a big clue.

It was just too hard to resist, otis.

I remember on gmk, someone posted about Gordon Strachan, and said he couldn't look more Scottish if he tried, unless he wore a big red beard and a kilt...Curtis replied, saying...so, he could have looked more Scottish then? That one has always stuck in my mind for some reason, so, when a chance for something similar crops up....well, you have to, don't you.. ? :emoji_grin:
