I would have thought there would be more chance that they probably just threw their tournament away. Who knows though!

For the first time in years there are more Real players than Barca players in the squad for a major tournament. If this goes tits up due to him going can you imagine what the likes of Ramos are going to be thinking in pre season training. I don’t get why Perez thought this appointment was a good idea. It’ll blow up in his face.

Oh, How will everyone get through the walls, what will happen to the Muslim fans and players should they qualify ?

We should really get Scotland onboard for a joint hosting bid at 2030, if only so they can actually qualify for a tournament for once.

They are voting today where to hold the 2022 tournament. USA-Canada-Mexico or Morocco, neither inspires really.
For me I would like to see it hosted by Morocco, the alternative would be a hugely commercial experience which just throws the money back at another rich country. What's the betting on The Budweiser World cup or something similar.
If it was Mexico alone, I would be more positive.

I had Brazil v Germany final. I can't see Argentina doing well. Only just managed to qualify and their midfield/defence is about as good as ours.
Yeah, agree.

Just the way it panned out and had them missing the big teams in the knockout somehow.

Wasn't by design. Just did it on a game by game basis

Yeah, well, you say that, but two years ago would you have said Donald Trump would be president? That North Korea would come and negotiate? That Wales would get as far as they did in the Euros?

All things are possible. You only have to look back to Greece winning the European Championships with a poor side. Solid defensively, but nowhere near the best team in the tournament.

Sometimes with a bit of luck you can go a long way.

All things are possible. Doesn't mean it's likely at all, but there is always a possibility, however small that may be.
I admire your optimism and yes the miracle could happen. But, my football brain cant get past our poor defenders. Back in the day England were known for solid defence. This lot are so focussed on getting forward we forgotten how to defend when we need/have too. So when we meet a team that can attack with pace. We will be found out. So my head says with all the luck going, it's not enough to get England a winners medal. Hurts me to say it. Quarters will be a good achievement for these kids. Let's see.

USA-Mexico-Canada 2026 wins the vote by a fair distance.

Not a fan of these joint bids......especially over a such a vast area with different climates & time zones.....its a farce tbh...

And maybe I should put this in the "I told you so" thread, but I reckon the 2026 WC will now see the introduction of the matches being played in quarters to accommodate all the advertising......

The adverts in the US are much worse than here (yes that is possible). Every 5 fucking minutes.

How does that kind of spread compare to this year? I know Russia covers a good few time zones but it looks fairly concentrated in the west and Kalinigrad so I can't get a sense of the scale.

Conspiracy to get Pep in on a temporary basis perhaps?

No chance. He’s now the most anti Spanish person in the world. There’s a better chance of Southgate taking the Spain job and Zidane managing Barca one day than Pep taking the Spain job.

So the reason Qatar got the WC we were told, was to spread the tournament around to get more people interested in football.
Next vote sees a bid win that'll include Mexico hosting the tournament for the third time.
What are these clowns on?

They say they're not about geo economics /politics.
Organisationally I've already cited a couple issues jovially.
What about the vast travel /climatic distances and variations?

Hmm, may sound a bit conspiracy theorist, but if they were allowed to nip to a quick ad or two during a game, when say a player was down injured, that would leave things open for match fixing.

Company wants their ad on TV, player is paid to go down injured in a certain minute of the game etc.

Is there any other game in US where they can't go to ads every 10-15 mins or so?

Can't think of any. Baseball, basketball, American football, golf, tennis, ice hockey, cricket, boxing, all have stoppages where the TV company go go to commercials.

Do they go to ads in F1?

So not the Greenest of choices here is it, Plenty of Kerosene going up in smoke with this choice ,linked with a President who implied his countries political support of certain nations were open to question.
Then you couple that with a judgement that Morrocos claims to a territory in it's Southwest worked against it.
Anyway back to tipstering .
Who's going with Achilles' predictions, do they have a Cat in hells chance?
