Who else have shrewsbury got thats any good? Signing portsmouth players en mass worked for us last season so maybe its Shrewsburys turn this time round.

It's clear that by large Robins looks at players who have either stood out for their team or have had successful seasons within a team. For instance, if you look at some of last seasons signings: Davies, O'Brien, Doyle, (Baker) all had success with Portsmouth who achieved promotion the season before last. McNulty has stood out for a number of teams and similarly did well with Portsmouth. Kelly always stood out for Leyton Orient. Rod McDonald went up with Northampton. Grimmer had always been a mainstay with Shrewsbury in League One.

This season, Allassani has stood out in non-league, Westbrooke is a similar signing to Hyam last season and Brown has been a star for Shrewsbury for a number of seasons and obviously nearly went up with them last term. I expect the signings to continue to be of the same ilk so it wouldn't shock me in the slightest if another came in from the Shrews.

Jon Nolan, central midfield, had a v good season by all accounts, but would be too expensive for us.

Not surprised after that abysmal performance at Wembley
I couldn’t believe their performance in that final considering they had been top 3/4 all season. I think the manager bottled it with his long ball approach perhaps that’s why he’s not there anymore.

He's gone to Ipswich on a fat contract. Shrewsbury got compensation for him.

The bottled it in the Checkatrade final against Lincoln too.

I watched that game and they were absolutely abysmal.

Shame as they had such a good season and any other year they would have gone up. I guess they could have been relegated straight away anyway!

They’re a good club with decent supporters, for the most part they’ve played proper football whatever the trends in hoof ball.

They’ve played 5 times at Wembley and lost the lot iirc. There’s a point where that becomes self-fulfilling and the hype about overcoming the Wembley hoodoo is counterproductive.

I thought that they played well in the Checkatrade at the Ricoh. We never had a kick in the first half.

Used to work with a Shrews fan, most pessimistic fan i've ever spoken to and given the level of pessimism about our own club that was quite some achievement!

It's the first time I've posted a rumour and see it blow up on a few different formats. Like on the other thread, I have to stress that we are just one of a few clubs that have offered him a contract, I was given no indication that he's definitely signing, just that it's a 'good' offer.

The signing on fee is pretty decent so we’ll wait and see.

Not

Not going to sell any more season tickets on the back of that though.

If I go up to people in the street and say we've got Ogogo they will probably just ask if it's contagious.
Oh dear... too many Oggy thingies for me....
