SISU - seize the moment. (1 Viewer)

Slowly, albeit very slowly, SISU are getting more supporters onside.... still a massive gulf to fill though. Now is the time to seize the moment and grasp this golden opportunity and convince us you are fully focussed on ensuring the club moves forward and that the momentum continues. Look at your ticket pricing - one unsold seat = £0 income. In the Hotel industry empty rooms bring zero income... best to sell unsold rooms at a big discount than leave the room empty. This equally applies to unsold seats at the Ricoh. 7,000 season tickets at full price will not bring in more than 12,000 sold at discounted rate. Bradford City realised this and sold double the amount of season tickets.
Seize the momentum, harness the goodwill and optimism of the support and you will be surprised how things progress.

Doesn't work like that at all. With hotels people know prices vary. If you discount season tickets, which is all you can do as FL restrict too many discounts on individual matches, you have to discount them all. As we saw a couple of seasons back when the season ticket price was massively reduced the sales didn't increase enough to cover the lost revenue from the lower price.

So what you are in effect suggesting is we lower the price leading to lower revenues whilst our costs increase as we have to pay for more stands to be open. The next thing that happens is the budget gets reduced and everyone starts complaining.

Season tickets aren't expensive, relative to other teams. Kids tickets aren't expensive.

How about we flip your statement round and as many of those who were at Wembley as possible buy a season ticket, give Robins a bigger than expected budget and see what he can do.

I would say Dave Boddy is getting more people onside with backing the manager and players, nobody is getting onside with sisu, there is a reason Fisher has taken a back seat. If you try and make this about sisu things would quite quickly go back the other way. I hope Boddy and the marketing team can use the feel good factor to persuade more people to buy season tickets, because that's what will help Robins next season.

In the end despite the pretentious sufferagete approach by many of our fans owners get judged by success

Anyone who suggests they wouldn’t attend a Coventry City appearance in a Champions League Final if Joy and Timmy are im charge is a liar.

That’s hyperbole to prove a point

They would still boo Fisher when he appeared on the big screen shaking hands with the players

You can’t blame the fans. And feel free to ignore this as I haven’t really been one this season, but in any business the second you start blaming your customers for your lack of custom you’re finished. To some it’s more than that, but really to most it’s entertainment and a day out at Wembley is infinitely more entertaining than a wet Tuesday watching us lose to Barnet or whatever. That’s just life.

Our support levels follow pretty linearly with our division. It’s silly to expect 20k fans a week for L2 football unless you’ve got that level of hardcore support (which we haven’t because it takes more than a promotion run 50 years ago and a cup win 30). We need success on the pitch to build the supporter base back up.

Build it and they will come, within a given tolerance based on the division we are in.

Not blaming the supporters at all. Just saying that Robins has, to use your phrase, built it and now its time for them to come.

Why can't we aim for an average L1 attendance similar to Portsmouth, who got 17K rather than accepting much lower? Imagine the impact on Robins and the players if we sold 10K season tickets and there was 15K at the Ricoh for the first L1 match. Lost count of how many times they've said the fans make a difference.

What was our average gate pre Northampton, ? If I remember correctly it was around the 13/14000 mark, That Northampton debacle cost us about 10000 per home game at £20 a game that’s £200k x 23 games is over 4.5 million quid.

10,950, still a good way up on 2348 the Sixfields season.

7,000 season tickets at full price brings in more than 12,000 ST at half price so economics is not straight forward. Bradford, like Wasps, gain from making money in other areas like food and drink sold on the day. Something not really available to us. Can’t really discount now as seasoned ST holders would need to be discounted.

Because Portsmouth has several promotions and a cup win in recent memory, plus a fan take over. They built a more resilient support. We didn’t get 17k at HR in the Prem most weeks. We had 20 odd years of not much, just blah existent in the Prem, then a cup win, then another 14 years, then successive relegations.

A promotion from League Two isn’t building it. Another promotion and the Checkatrade trophy might make it a bit but we’re starting from such a small base. I truly believe you’d see 20k every week in the Championship as long as we weren’t awful. And I think we’d see 12-15k if we’re competing in League One for a sustained period, but it didn’t take us one or two years to drop to this level of support and we won’t build it back as quick.

If we rose all the way back to the top division say, that’s the sort of thing the original fan base was built on. Then you’re adding thousands to the hard core, but otherwise you’ll see the same rough increase in attendances going up as we saw decrease coming down without more out of the ordinary success. Let’s remember that all Robins has done is got us back to where we were when he started (obviously the relegation wasn’t his fault).

The analisys may be off but that is the published loss for the Sixfields season .
SISU contribution to cover the loss £600K according to a Newspaper article .
Someone here suggested it was a Million, we sold two players for a Combined £4.25M IIRC and May have pocketed something for Jordan Clarke as well.
