Allez Allez Allez chant for Wembley? (1 Viewer)

Long-time Cov fan here, veteran of Highfield Road, etc.... I just posted a tweet saying we should do a tongue-in-cheek version of Liverpool's Allez Allez Allez chant. It's the best terrace song I've heard in years and we could make it our own at Wembley (I've heard it Anfield and it's epic when it gets going, it just goes and goes for ages).

"We've conquered all of League Two
We're never gonna stop
From Swindon up to County
We've won the fcking lot.
Mark Robins and John Sillett
The years at Highfield Road
We are loyal supporters
And we come from Coventry.
Allez Allez Allez etc
(and repeat)

Mate, i reckon a lot of people will know the allez allez allez chant already if they've been watching footy in the past year, it's done the rounds... esp if they watch the champs league final on saturday, they've gonna hear it for 90 mins solid from the liverpool fans!

but i hear ya, we gotta get that doyle/kelly chant going round the stadium for sure

There will be 20000 people there who have never even heard the Doyle/Kelly chant, let's not try and start chants that people who go week in week out don't know!

We should play Earth, Wind and Fire before the game :)

I don’t mean to be rude but fuck off.
We’ve got a good range of our own songs to sing and if we want to come up with something new, surely we can do better than copying Liverpool, who copied Napoli, who copied Marseille.

Just the thought of this makes me cringe- belongs in the same chapter of embarrassment as that ‘and that’s the way we like it, we like it, we like it’ that was copied off Crystal Palace.

N.B. The Liverpool version says ‘we took over Rome’ ....what a laughing stock, they cried for the authorities to inveteneve and protect them and transport them to and from the game - and set up emergency helpline out there in case of attacks. Some take over.

Earsldon, to be fair most songs stem from some place or other – we didn't exactly write Twist n shout ourselves! Apparently the Allez chant comes from an 80s Italian song so it's not really about who wrote stuff, but yeah i'm with you, we do have a properly good set of songs these days.

Regardless of what we sing, can't believe we're back at Wembley. This time last year I flew home from Australia just for the cup final! Thought it was gonna be a once in a lifetime thing..

No it doesnt. It says From Paris down to Turkey we've won the fucking lot. Been to a few games at Anfield and heard it.

Btw i've got two spares for the final – i just found out ticketmaster cocked up my booking and charged me for four tickets instead of two. They're all in block 229, on the edge of the box. They told me to send em back next week but that just means they won't get used which is stupid..... so shout if anyone wants em at face value.

You can't plan a terrace chant. It could have the greatest lyrics ever but still may not catch on. They seem to just grow/evolve over time. Often simple and repetitive wins the day.

you forgot about 'Just cant get enough' also ripped right from Celtic. Just cant sing it, so cringeworthy. Don't get me started on people who sing shit on the villa for a League two game against Notts County, what the hell is that about??

Yes I get that, there's always going to be the adaptations and there's only many songs in the world that you can turn into a football chant but I'm against deliberately ripping a song off. Especially a cringey one.

I'm a Coventry City fan, if I wanted to be a Liverpool fan I would buy an embarrasing banner: 'Skrtle is so hard he can get a Big Mac in Burger King' etc, some Karrimor trainers, pretend to be Irish and go to Anfield once every 5 years. We can do better than copying their songs.

yeah fair play mate. I think people are taking it way too seriously! it's tongue in cheek... whole point is we're in league two and we're able to have a laugh about beating shit teams, we're not so stuck up our own arses as the scousers. yknow, Cov self-deprecating humour and all that. Let's just stick to 'biamou, biamou, biamou'!

anyway, enjoy monday, fingers crossed

The problem with this song is, we haven’t conquered L2 and we’d look like right tits if we went on to lose singing that...

... Liverpool have won the Champions League 5 times, so them singing that song actually makes sense.

Nice idea, but I’m out I’m afraid.
