I can’t see why it’s not 10 overs of 10 then, I think in one of the evening leagues it’s 8 ball overs.

Next it will be bowling at one end only I have played in a game where this used to happen

It’s a disaster at the very very worst it could be 2 innings per side of 10 overs complete slog a thon.

Disgraceful though it is might as well create a new sport!

Effectively they’re creating a game of cricket for those that don’t like cricket
This is the problem. Why are they looking at that market but not the people who are drifting away from the game because they keep messing with it.

Both one day competitions had record attendances last year, the idea that you need to reinvent T20 to get people in is nuts.

Forget county cricket, you'll never have packed stadiums for that. And because of pitch preparation the days of cricket festivals at smaller grounds are disappearing. Although personally I'd bring them back. Surely better to play a county game at a packed C&W or Stratford than an empty Edgbaston.

The elephant in the room is test cricket. They can't seem to grasp that the problem is simply over saturation. Look how long England were away for this winter, then the new county season was starting as soon as they were back and the next round of tests will be up soon. If you have a 5 game home series and a 5 game away series each year it would go back to being an event.

Surrey interest in signing smith and warner for t20 if ecb approve a total disgrace
No coincidence they have an aussie coach. Too many counties looking at short term gains. Kolpak players killing some counties. Wonder Test player pool is so small? Look at number of over 30s non England qualified filling certain counties.

No live coverage today a bit disappointing, maybe on certain counties are doing it

10 wickets in the match for sidebottom and 1 wicket to get for an innings win

On a side note, Derbyshire have won their first home game since 2014 and have beaten league favourites Middlesex!

Teams like Derbyshire and Leicestershire offer so little to the county scene, both rarely produce players for the test side and are forever looking for kolpak players

Given the way it’s going I would be surprised to see the 18 reduced with counties ‘merging’ to put another nail in the traditional Cricket coffin.

Big bugbear of mine. Think counties are lazy and take shortcuts with kolpak players etc. Think they offer nothing to the quality of cricket or improve the appeal of any form of the domestic game.
Time maybe has come to reduce number of counties and find a way to promote young players who can qualify for national sides. It's not like years ago when counties had a couple of overseas players who were top quality.

I also think the county to test support is not great, Bancroft banned so Somerset sign a replacement Australian which allows them time to get used to conditions here. They should limit the amount of overseas players in a season to one as you get one for a few weeks and then they parachute another in to cover.

i'd almost go further. there's no need for overseas players in 4 day cricket. Eat up salary cap, don't increase revenue, (does a "Bancroft add to Somerset's attendances" for 4 day cricket), stifles development of English players (how many under 23s playing 1st XI cricket even compared to the number of over 35s).
Prize money is next to nothing. Central contracts benefit the players mainly.
Ltd overs cricket finances it all so by all means have 2 or 3 overseas in the competitions that generate income.

On a side note Kohli joins Surrey for a month before the test series just in time to get some form on English decks before the Test series.......
