I've also got to give Squeaky a pat on the back. His substitutions can be frustrating and/or non-existent at times but today he got them bang on IMO. I know he was forced in to the Bayliss/Kelly one but it looked like he gave Kelly some license to roam which suits him as most people have said before so kudos for that. For me Shipley wasn't great today and swapping him for Reid stretched Crewe at a time we couldn't afford to let them get a foothold as they chased the game. He gave us an outlet and made Crewe wary of committing too many forward. The Ponti sub was too late to really affect the game but gave us enough impetus on the wing to get the job done

If we win our next 3, we will either be level on points or ahead of them I suspect. It’s a game I’d take a draw in and a win would be a huge bonus. Obviously, a loss would be bad, but that alone wouldn’t take us out of the mix necessarily as they have one less game to play - and half their games are against their direct rivals. I’d say, Wycombe are the team we need to keep an eye out for. As I say, we need to take care of our own results first, and the rest will take care of itself. We should aim to remain unbeaten for the rest of the season.

As Coventry City supporters, Accrington Stanley should be our secondary teams for the rest of the season! 6 of their last 9 are against our direct rivals! They and Luton could pave the way the way for us to nick an automatic spot!
Accrington are like a runaway train at the moment.

Lots of points to be won and lost, looking at all the fixture permitations involving our rivals you would put our chances as good as any. But there will be points dropped on the way by all
You don't want to lose to your rivals though and we play both Notts County and Lincoln. Really could do with not losing those two games.

And the likelihood is that for automatic promotion we would be looking at around 83-85 points. Robins said something around that mark too.

Let's say 83. We have 61 points now, so would need another 22 to reach that total. There are only 27 points to play for, so only 1 defeat allowed, 7 wins, 1 draw.

Would say the 1 defeat we would most certainly not want would be against Notts County.

I think with so many teams vying for 3rd, and so many teams in the top 8 left to play one another, I can feasibly see it being an unusually low threshold for 3rd. For 85pts, that depends on any of Wycombe, Mansfield and Notts County picking up 19-22 points from their remaining games - when all of them have to play Accrington, and the latter two playing Luton on top of that. In fact, Notts County have 8 games left and 4 of those games are against, us, Accrington, Wycombe and Luton - to get 6 wins of their remaining 8, well, they'd deserve it frankly. Mansfield have drawn too many games to hit the 20-22 points for 83-85pts (plus going through a managerial transition). Exeter and Notts County are on about 10-12pt form over 9 games atm. On current form, the teams most likely to hit 20+ points are us and Wycombe. Their run is similar to ours, so for that reason, I think us and Wycombe will be fighting it out for 3rd. As I said, I personally think we'll finish 4th or 5th (leaning to 4th at the minute), I think if we win our next 3 and beat Newport (only lost two at home this season), I think we'll have the momentum to take 3rd.

We’ve got favourable home games left; Grimsby, Yeovil, Stevenage, Morecambe and Lincoln. Our away games look quite favourable too; Notts County, Newport, Crawley and Cheltenham. We've already beaten 5 of those 9, and the teams we've lost to, we're at home to. I'd say 6/7 of our remaining games are very winnable. Notts County, Lincoln and Newport (strong home record) pose obvious threats.

Accrington are like a runaway train at the moment.

Really hope they beat Mansfield, Wycombe and Notts County.

I do think Lincoln will be a very tough game and it depends on how Notts County fair in their next 3 games.

If we were to play them now I would be very confident. Let's hope they are still spluttering when we face them.

If you're referring to yourself rather than anything that happened on the pitch, then I take my hat off to you for your astounding ability to post coherently. Top man! I've only had a few beers and a couple of glasses of wine, but this has taken me fucking hours to compose.

Keep telling everyone, it's their 6th game in April. They're going to be fucked and we'll hammer them

With you there.

So, next year, wish your missus a happy anniversary and when she says 'It's our anniversary today?' Say 'no, it's a year since we beat Crewe.'
I sincerely hope these remarks are tongue in cheek...

Mightily impressive analysis by yourself and Otis. All points to a nerve-shredding finale to the season. Would love us to snatch third but I really can't see it and who knows what might happen in the play-offs. I'm in the kitchen after doing the washing up at a family do and drinking anything and everything I can get my hands on. Hence the rapid posting. PUSB

Always interesting to see the view from the other side (well I think so anyway). Very fair assessment of things IMO, only fault I can find is them calling Bayliss a winger :banghead: a) we tried that and it doesn't work b) he was playing in the middle!

Report: Crewe 1-2 Coventry

Had trouble once from English thugs. Had a go at my Irish musicians for singing Irish songs. When asked „ok, what do you want?“ they said „sweet chariot“. That’s where we are.
