DMP won 10-8 last kick pen shame, but only 4 points.

Plymouth have another game called off.

Cov 24-7 up and BP gained

You really have to question the wisdom of playing a Rugby League match on a Friday evening less than 24 hours before the 15 a side game. Towards the end of both halves it was difficult to see who was who. It was 15 browns against 15 browns. Still, nice to see Cov back on track after last week's unexpected blip.

Not sure when Cov United next few Home games are but they’ll surely be in doubt and potentially have a backlog.

Surprised they’ve agreed to all these teams playing at the BPA before installing the 4G pitch.

That pitch can't recover this season surely? They'll either have to go for a beach like we did at HR or a drop in pitch - no idea how expensive they are.

I’m sure Jon Sharp quoted £1.5 mil for the installation but then there would be maintence and yearly costs on top.

The 1.5 mil wasn't just for the pitch. Lots more work being undertaken besides as part of that cost. There are even rumours emanting from people supposedly in the know of a small hotel going in in the medium term (but doubt that means this year somehow). The 'Park' side is also ripe for some initial development, and this is definitely in the frame if the club can land the right finance in time.
A further rumour surrounds the installation of a shallower-angled ramp of seating being overlaid on the front 'x' rows of the East stand, to raise the front row of seats, thereby allowing the addition of proper dugouts and a fence along the pitch. (The latter is desired, but cannot legally be added due to the very close proximity of the pitch to the seating. Part of the solution being talked about includes moving the whole pitch westwards a chunk). All this is moot at the mo though, given the finance requirements.
The only real doubt in my mind, surrounding the installation of the 3G pitch, is the fact that the club have committed to two days of concerts in the stadium during the close-season. That leaves the timescale tight I reckon. I'm sure it's do-able though.

Cov sign Ravai Fatiaki (centre/half back) from Leicester. A Fiji international who also plays for the army with prop Nat Titchard-jones.
Adds flexibility as cover for both out-half and 12/13, which is always welcome given the limited bench at this level (requirement for front-row cover limits the options in the backs). With Tolmie also comfortable in the back row, and Daynes able to cover lock/BR, there seems to be a clear and useful policy in this direction.

Read in Tim’s blog last week RW wanted 3 new players to come in ASAP to strengthen the squad.

I love it when your team is clear at the top of the league and then they strengthen!

Found another they’ve signed back row Paddy Ryan on dual Reg from Northampton for the season, only DR in the squad at present and only 2nd this season I think, considering some sides have 8+ (Most have over 5 on a regular basis) in their match day squads.

He was brought in a couple of weeks ago, but only just confirmed. No idea why it took so long! Emery, Umaga and Dingwall are also DR, as was Gabriel Oghre (who may have gone back now).

Oh yeah my mistake seems the DR’s have played a fair bit of development games this season.

Has Fatiaki signed permanently? They haven’t said any length of contract I don’t think.

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say 'most' have five on a regular basis TBF. Only Old Albanian, Loughborough Students tend to abuse the system to that extent. Plymouth have a facility with Exeter, but I don't think they've pushed it that far very often if at all. DMP tend to have two or three from Newcastle, and several others use occasional DRs. AFAIK, Caldy have used none whatsoever, and Hull few if any. Mose lost their Northampton and Worcester formal links a while ago, but may have the odd DR, but I can't recall seeing any this season. May be wrong. Fylde, OEs, Esher and Blackheath are minimal users too.

Yes, I understand so. I believe he was one of the 'several' signed already for next year, but brought forward due to the Stevens/Tuitupou/Dingwall situation. Tigers don't use him, so it makes sense for both sides. I guess Cov can now use it as 'trial' period eh?

Unchanged tomorrow rarity.
Time to put the demons of last time ours travels behind them!

Bishop Stortford should have won the game up here earlier in the season so by no means a 5 point banker tomorrow!

And they (BS) only managed to breach the Cov line after about six minutes of added time, with Cov down to fourteen (and two or three minutes would have been more realistic). Still, six tries to one is not to be sniffed at.

Great win, DMP won but importantly Plymouth lost so even if they win there games in hand they’re behind DMP. Just pushed another side slowly out the race!

And not have a loss to Darlington? If the losses are elsewhere we should be alright shouldn't we?

15 point lead isn't it?

15 with DMP having a game in hand I suppose DMP won that game and 5-0 us twice it’s all square but I’d be surprised.

Cliche but one game at a time springs to mind but i just cannot see Cov letting it slip!

With a home game next Sat against Fylde (not whipping boys per se, but definitely bottom for a reason), and DMP having to travel to Old Elthamians, there's a fair chance that Cov could be 18, 19 or even 20 points clear by 5pm.
DMP then have Blackheath at home; no pushovers as Cov learned recently.
And then they travel to Plymouth. Plymouth are in danger of being left behind right now, and will see this as a must-win, for pride if nothing else, and I feel they should/could do it.
Then comes the crunch DMP/Cov tie, which could, could, define the outcome of the season.
Interesting times. But nothing will be anywhere near sorted until then, I think.

BTW, there are currently only three clubs who cannot actually overhaul Cov's points total (Fylde, Old Albanian, and Hull). Until there are none, I'm not counting any chickens ;)
