Funny how you used to accuse him of not going to matches and doing DIY.
We used to laugh about it at matches
.
Fair play to Tony for playing along with you and making you happy.
But he is right you really need to get your facts right.

Talking about facts what ever happened to Fisher and his bodyguard - did they ever get arrested?

It is ignorant because he’s the strongest link in the chain and like any chain it’s the weakest link that breaks it. Putting conditions on him like things need to improve or he goes or if we don’t make playoffs he has to go is idiotic because the weakest link in the chain will still be here.

You’re also ignorant to what a shitty and difficult league this is to get out of. Speak to a Northampton fan about trying to get out of this league and why they’re fearful of dropping back into it, talk to a Portsmouth fan and ask them about trying to get out of this league with 16K average crowds and the financial benefits that come with that. It’s fine margins in this league and the smallest of cracks can tear a clubs chances apart. If everyone is pulling in the same direction you’re going to have a chance which is probably why Northampton did it when they did in the circumstances that they did against all the odds.

The fact that we can play as bad as we have at times and still be third is typical of this league and it’s a manager with the resolve of MR who will get us out of this league, it’s owners like SISU who keep you here or worse.

Not with you there ? given 4 get promoted from this league surely its the easiest league to get promoted from if you have a decent set up side.

Why would Fisher get arrested he wasn't there, (Nobody said he was) as for his body guard that I don't know never even thought about it until now.

So before you ask me clean your glasses and ask Tim yourself.

Who has said that?

Why do you never engage in discussions about his tactics and decisions during games? Both good and bad. It wasn't so long ago you were posting on every thread about how he was wrong about McNulty and he was a failure for example but wouldn't ever discuss why or what he was failing at.

I said it.
Joy Sepalla stays in position
Tim fisher stays in position

Everybody below them directors, managers and players change.

Until the ethos from the top changes we will continue to decline. At best we will yo yo between division 3 and division 4.

I engage in lots of discussions about players tactics and matches.

You disagreeing with me isn’t the same as not discussing it.

My issue with McNulty was his actual finishing. You feel he never actually had any chances. We disagree.

In recent weeks apart from the penalty avd a few other chances his finishing has been much better and he is proving me wrong. Which I am chuffed to bits about a genuinely didn’t think he would.

However this thread and this discussion is about sacking the manager hence why I am discussing that and not his finishing.

I feel that the leadership from the very top is wrong and the manager and certain directors will always be the scapegoat for this. I cannot believe that it is possible to sign that many bad managers, bad directors and bad players.
The only consistent thing over the last 6-7 years is Tim Fisher and Joy Sepalla.
That is where you issue is, each time you sack the manager it just causing turmoil and sets us back again.
The new manager has to work on a smaller budget part of his budget is already gone on players he doesn’t really want but he is stuck with and then we struggle.
Maybe at division 4 we may have found the level for this.

I would like to think that promotion this season would be stage 1 of our journey back to the top but you make valid points regarding the structure of the club.
It did not stop Blackpool being promoted, the chopping and changing of managers and players has not stopped Watford progressing or even Chelsea winning the league every few years.
Sometimes turmoil works, mostly it doesn't and stability is preferable, see Birmingham City as an example of change not being beneficial, if you don't want to peer through our doors that is.
I believe in results and all of last seasons managers failed by that measurement until Robins came in. I really don't care if Mowbray got the paintwork sorted out at Ryton or it the scouting system in place,
I care about what happens on the pitch and you are correct, McNulty has missed chances and will do so in future but the mood of the fans will always be more positive when we are winning...,,,,,,,unless the owners have forfeited the trust of the supporters and I can't see a way back for these custodians of our club as the attendances signify in my opinion.

You can only blame the owners for so much. In League 1, there were two season where we built a squad capable of playoffs or better. Forget the (moot) point of whether our budget was ‘top 6 or 8’ in the league at any given time, we’ve had teams that were good enough to get playoffs or better in L1. This season, our team is undoubtedly competitive enough for automatic promotion - our record against the best teams in this division shows that.

I think everyone involved in the club deserves credit for our transfer dealings this season. We’ve kept onto key players for the rebuilding phase in particular; Willis, Stevenson, Haynes and Jones - all of whom a lot of people doubted. On top of that, we brought in 14 players and most are experienced professionals at L2 with proven records on permanent deals. The early signs are that we’re carrying on making shrewd transfer business.

A lot of people compare our business to, say, Luton for example. It’s a flawed comparison because Luton are fine tuning their squad as they narrowly missed out on autos last year, whereas we’ve had a complete rebuild. Especially people like yourself criticised the club for ‘missing out’ on players like James Collins and criticised McNulty for not being a ‘natural goalscorer’, yet he finds himself 2 goals behind Collins in the league, but both on 12 in all competitions. In fact, McNulty has actually scored in more games (11) than Collins (10), yet, he was a free agent and Collins cost about 300k - which, had we signed him, would’ve directed resources away from other positions.

Last year year they were, particularly Stevenson, perhaps I didn’t make it clear, but the pertinent point was that we could’ve sold them as part of a ‘great Sisu sell-off’, but didn’t...

I'm having a job to recall, did he break through the season before?
It would be interesting to understand how and why we resisted the offers on those three although I'm mostly in favour of holding onto our youngsters.
Haynes and Lameries, baffling.

I think we were right to keep hold of Stevenson because I don’t think he’s become a bad player overnight (I could be wrong, but people would’ve been critical had we sold him). Last season, I suspect, has probably dented his confidence a bit because I don’t think it’s easy being a young player in a struggling team. Plus, I think Robins has a plan with Doyle and Kelly in midfield, and with Bayliss being a ‘box-to-box’ midfielder means he’s probably better suited to this league than our other options if he can cope physically.

If Bayliss is a box to box midfielder then he will better suited to the premier league.
In our league midfield is often bypassed, running with the ball, as Bayliss does, has been a surprise .

Last week was a premier League side that motivated our players not Robins , when he needs to motivate in league games he’s sadly found wanting.

I like this thread as it’s a barometer of Robins tenure, today was a challenge which if we are promoted will be reflected upon. I just hope that as good as FA cup distraction is for some , I am sure that MR knows his real goals. For us Cov fans we know what we want .

I am not convinced he got the tactics right again today. We were definitely defending far too deep in that second half and JMD, Bayliss and Shipley were all tiring, yet he didn't change things and only replaced JMD.

We were hanging on a bit for a while there today and it could have easily have gone wrong.

And also how is Barratt going to get match fit just sitting on the bench, why not give him 15mins.
We had no injuries, and he only made one substitution, it just doesn't make sense !

Only at CCFC do you get fans debating whether the manager should be sacked despite the club remaining on course for its first top 6 finish in over 40 years.
Just for the record, I've never said Mark Robins should be sacked !!!

What's that got to do with this thread?? For what it's worth, we're in 100% agreement on that topic though.

Back on topic, do you think that if we miss the play-offs despite the massive progress we've made this season in becoming far more competitive than last season, that it would be a good idea to bin Robins, start from square one all over again and hope for better?

IMO we'd be better taking a longer term view, write off a couple of seasons and let him spend that time rebuilding not just the squad but the whole operation; such a job isn't something that can be achieved over a season, which is why it makes no sense to tell a man that he has a season to sink or swim and bin him off if he is seen to fail.

He’s ranting on the Cyrille Regis threads that I support the IRA and Bobby Sands - the fact the context is lost on his tiny brain is no surprise.

As for Robins if we miss the play offs his position is untenable.
