Rascist behaviour from a Coventry fan (1 Viewer)

Not listened but I hope the book gets thrown at them if the reports in the thread are accurate.

Despite the impression you might get, attitudes to race seem to have been pretty steady for decades and not getting worse. New report uncovers extent of racial prejudice in Britain

Not quite true. I know a lad that got done for racially aggravated assault when he was attacked by two Asian drug dealers because he happened to say “you Muslim bastard” while they were hitting him. The lad made a right play of it in court, making out he was afraid to leave his house now and all sorts while giving it shit to my mate outside the courthouse.

OK my mate is no angel, but it was hardly an appropriate response when he’s being set on by two guys.

Lots of racist fucks. Also lots of non-white fucks who play the system. Both are possible. It’s not all black and white (no pun intended).
...But he didn't happen to say 'you Muslim bastard' - you make it sound like an involuntary vocal spasm. He chose to use the words 'Muslim' and 'Bastard' as an insult to the person that was attacking him. If he didn't want to bring race into it he wouldn't have said 'Muslim' he'd have just said 'bastard'. Equally, if the two lads that were attacking him were white, I very much doubt he'd call them 'white bastards' or 'Christian Bastards'

Whilst your mate is clearly a victim here it's not fair to say he just happened to use discriminatory language, because there's clearly intent behind what he said.

Yep, racism... overwhelming drama. Think that probably says enough about your stance. Whilst we're at it, during the 'I wanna go home, Luton's a shithole' chant, a guy behind me felt it appropriate to shout 'its full of Muslims!' between each chorus. Stay classy.
I don't cry over spilt milk, I move on. Half of you freaks on here would turn this thread into a 20 paged pile of piss about racism and dramatize it all to get offended. And the funny thing about it is, you go into a rant that was fuck all to do with me, like I even gave a shit about what you heard at a football game. Stay snowflakey.

sure they do but its more of a family atmosphere, you can choose who you sit with and who you commute to and from the ground with etc, also no pubs for me sat games, on a away game i would have to go with friends

focus on the 2nd sentence anyway, love and compassion for all

I don't need to focus on it to be honest it was the way I was brought up.
Unless your C4L then anything goes ;)

it's a shame and a disgrace that you've been made to feel like that mate. I know it's a small minority but if you're next to it and from an ethnic minority then I can't imagine how it would make you feel.

I know it's bad shouting stuff like that at a bloke, but it reads worse when it's a woman.

its a small minority. every club has them. its just akward the few times it has happened at the footy,do u say something back, dop you ignore,do you acknowledge it,do you fight,do you stay,do you leave etc

from sounds of it its not too bad at CCFC so woudlnt rule out every going again

I'd hate for anybody to feel uncomfortable at a game, I think its such a small minority of people that if anybody did say anything then 99% of the Cov crowd would have your back against that individual.

You just don't want to be associated with these people do you. It's like going on a rally and a few daft anarchists spoiling it.

Must have been so embarrassing being in the same coach as this idiot and have people associate you with that incident.

I honestly think we should stop RE in schools and replace it with citizenship lessons and promoting care for others and focus on morality and scruples and ethics.

Let's face it, if you are a devout Christian, or Muslim , or Jew or Hindu, or Sikh, you are going to be brought up in that religion at home and are more than likely to go to a place of worship anyway.

I do think we should have a small degree of RE, but it should be just an explanation of the different religions and then it should focus on tolerance.

Call it out every time.

after forest game 5 years back 2 of them followed me and my cousin(who was about 15 at time) towards the river after we swore back lol, it was probably just intimidation and we didnt acknowledge them but we were making plans for self defence between ourselves lol, they went back after a few mins

nothing happened but others might have just gone for us so you never know. but justice should prevail so you are probably right.

out of order , better ignored tho and he probley felt a right twat to the others on the bus, don't think its racist but more slander to shout and accuse some one of being something they are not, although ive said over the years there is an element of cov fans that are all gob and piss takers , very embarrassing ,

I would like to think and believe that the vast majority of skyblues are an educated, multicultural, tolerant fanbase.

Some excellent points raised by many on here, abuse of anyone whatever its nature is unacceptable including that of players.

We live In one world now which has become smaller and smaller, as we experience other cultures and countries. Its starting to become a little more divisive now, which is another political debate.

Thankgod football and its fanbase has moved on from the 70s and the dark times in the 80s.

Education is key here, I'm not sure this individual has been well educated or brought up very well either, probably just a complete thicko, doesn't excuse it though and I wouldn't want to travel with or be associated with idiots like this. There is no need for a meltdown or overreaction days after though ! Someone in his peer group should have told him to behave himself in no uncertain terms and it may have put a stop to his prejudices going forwards.

It has nothing to do with education.
So to be a racist, homophobic or just a twat you have to be uneducated.
Well tell that to the leaders present and former of countries where these practices were and are still acceptable.
We're they uneducated?

The bigots on this thread are very much in the minority. Funnily enough, they are often the biggest snowflakes themselves and turn into snivelling cowards when challenged face to face.

I like to think that I'm tolerant, patient and understanding to everyone, regardless of their personal situation.
Except Villa fans of course, they are just wankers.

Looking back I reckon we haven't moved on that much from the 70's at games. In the 70's it was all about fighting opposing fans, abusing players and refs, anything/anybody was fair game. I thought it was part and parcel of football, shows how crazy it all was.
Maybe not as bad now but still needs cleaning up ?

Should people from different cultures integrate? Should women be treated as lesser people by their own families? Going out for a beer whilst wearing a hijab is just fucked up to be fair.

How dare you discriminate against fans of a particular club and tar them all with the same brush based on your own personal prejudice
