I thought ever one tried last night and showed utter commitment. How tudgay is a football I don't know but he gave 100% tbf.

Back 4 were tremendous and is this the making of turnbull who I thought was very good. Haynes and DKE were fantastic.

To a man if they get some help we can start winning some games. Keep it up

Agree with a lot of points here, also want to add an 11 rating for fans! Vocal from start to finish, became the proverbial 12th man didn't get on any players back and even booed the moron with the flare/smoke grenade. Peaceful pitch invasion too if only we could do this every week......

Surprise of the decade....

Russell Slade needed to nullify Akinfewa who was causing havoc. Decided to bring on a deep lying midfielder to play in front of the back four to stop the supply -Andy Rose was clearly not suited to this. Took off Reid and replaced him with Jack Finch. And the plan worked really well. Not been impressed with either before but Slade and Finch deserve some real credit for that

Couldn't agree more. There was a sense of bewilderment when that sub happened but within 5 minutes you could see exactly why he did it. Great tactics from the gaffer. Still would of bought on a fresh player in last 5 when rose and Tudgay were out on their feet but I'm not complaining

RCC 7 - Spilled a few balls but also made a few good saves
DKE 8 - Tiny but not phased at all and puts himself everywhere
HARRIES 7 - Coped as well as he could with Akinfenwa, wish he would use his weak foot more
TURNBULL 8 - Very solid at the back just needs to improve distribution when he has time
HAYNES 8 - Best technical player in this squad, never scared to run directly at opposition which I like
REID 5 - Yes good cross but spent the fest of the game falling over and doing kick ups?
ROSE 6.5 - Cant think of much to say about him but sometimes thats the best thing to say about a centre mid
REILLY 7 - Definitely his best game, possible thats he has taken a bit of time to adjust
G THOMAS 8 - Great composure for goal and almost got a second with another volley
BEAVON 7 - Good performance pretty standard from him
TUDGAY 5 - Gave away 4 or 5 what I considered stupid fouls and then moaned, referee wasnt overly harsh on him

JJ 6.5 - Did what he was asked to do just needs to find a better final ball
FINCH 7 - Not on for long but put his body about

We are regularly told that we have a team of boys playing against men. Last night the boys turned into men. Brilliant all of them.

Well done to the boys for digging in last night, however I thought we were incredibly poor and some remarkable high ratings from some here. Much of the credit I think goes to the fans for getting us over the line, great support.

RCC 5 - too many dropped crosses and serious communication issues with the defenders.
DKE 7 - good feisty performance and really dug in, did the simple things well and got the job done
Turnbull 5 - looked way to panicked at times.
Harries 6 - decent job in the second half against Akinfenwa once he got over the initial challenge. Needs more games to get used to the physicality of first team football.
Haynes 6 - some sloppy passes and poor decisions at times, did okay.
G Thomas 7 - worked hard and took his goal well. Should have scored another after good link up play with Tudgay but spooned a very good opportunity.
Reilly 6 - Some nice touches and great vision at times, not sure what else he offered.
Rose 4 - Didn't get involved enough when the midfield was really needed for a fight, lacking quality going forward.
Reid 2 - No idea what that was meant to be last night. Terrible.
Tudgay 5 - Got to win those headers Marcus, you need to offer something else.
Beavon 6 - took his goal well, we looked worse off when he wasn't playing

Jones 6 - gave the Wycombe defenders a few problems but nothing they couldn't real with.

Slade 7 - Tactically did well to get us though to the final with what is a poor poor Coventry team. I know we were missing a couple of regulars but play like that for the rest of the season and we will definitely be relegated.

agree with most of that although i think bit too harsh on rcc and reid. rcc came out and did enough, he was under alot of physical pressure for the drops

and reid worked hard. yeh his kickups every 2 mins looked silly but it worked majority of time in helping us clear ball.

but yeah poor performance despite result

Agree RCC did enough but I feel he got away with a few mistakes, other teams would have really punished him. To be a good goalkeeper he needs to work on this and get used to the physicality of big brutes of opposition forwards.

I thought Reid was shocking, he wasn't getting the better of his man right from the start. As a wide player if that isn't working he needs to play it simple at times and try get back in the game and work past the defence rather than trying the same thing over and over again. A full backs dream to play against somebody like that.

Great pass, what that Wycombe defender was doing I've no idea.

How anyone can give Jodi Jones any marks at all is beyond me. Spends time on his backside moaning to the referee. Absolute garbage.
The rest of them were all heroes. What we lacked in skill in finesse we made up for in guts and determination. Reilly and Kelly Evans ran themselves ragged. 10's the lots of them.

Agree with this. The performance last night at a technical level was shocking so I'm surprised by high ratings both here and on the telegraph. I'm absolutely delighted we're at Wembley but there were moments last night which make me worry under Slade. At one point last night Reid received the ball on the left, had a very simple inside pass on offer but seemed intent on hoofing it. He's stamped his mark and we're now a team of hard workers who seem terrified to play and recieve a ball.

I do agree but feel praise should be given for the players tenacity and desire to succeed. From a technical stand point it was severely lacking. Slade is a hoofball merchant, it's far from pretty, it has been completely ineffective (in the league at least) but I don't want that to detract from what was a gritty, ballsy and determined performance from a set of young lads.

I said exactly the same, I overheard somebody moaning about that substitution but Finch picked up most second balls off Akinfewa from when he came on. It was the right call from Slade.

Did anybody see all of the bobbles on the pitch as well? I was worried with back passes at one point.

The pitch is a right mess, considering it has been a relatively dry winter and not particularly cold, you do wonder whether Wasps are scrimping on the upkeep of it. Or, maybe it is just a fact of life when you've got two teams playing on it in fairly quick succession.

Only mentioned the pitch when it comes to the short balls on the floor game, it was all over the shop around the centre circle when trying to play it on the deck.

Knew what he was planning with the Finch sub, but did think he was going to slot into defence. Was clever planning to get him to sit just in front and pick up anything and just hit it as hard as he could.

One thing that pissed me off, why can't any of our players put their foot through a ball and have it away?

I missed the first half, I though we were poor most of the second half and lucky not to concede more. I am amazed at the write ups of DKE regardless of how well he did against a much bigger player and how brave he was etc.. there was a clear tactic to play the diagonal ball aimed at DKE and quite a few times the Wycombe player got the better of him and was able to carry the ball into a dangerous position - its great that we won but I see him as amother Aaron Phillips who will be targeted for his lack of height. Tudguy was very poor also offers nothing going forward and his attempt to keep the ball when he tried to play off their player but went straight for a goal kick summed up his 3 season contribution to us. Better from JJ and if he had a proper striker to cross to may have scored in the second half

Disappointed with some of the comments here...yes it wasn't technically brilliant...yes a couple of players didn't perform like Messi or Ronaldo but it was a fantastic team performance and although Reid made me laugh out loud a couple of times he battled as did all the team. Don't forget we have been through the mill and back so to even get a performance like this was incredible, the crowd was brilliant and the atmosphere fantastic and the result was out of this worl...lets enjoy it while we can...Ohh and the players have now raised the bar no excuses now... Real shame DKE is so small because he was fantastic last night real tenacious my MOTM along with Turnbull

We finally saw what Reilly can offer in a game last night. What a change.
But he had a really great game against Bolton, constantly harrying the opposition, and with a decent amount of skill. So I've seen him twice and he's been terrific twice. Has he really been crap in all the matches in between? Genuine question, not a dig.

I thought he was very good for the first 30 mins against Millwall too. He did then fade very badly.
Wonder if he is a confidence player?

As I say, he started very brightly against Millwall, but then badly misplaced a couple of passes and then faded.

I don't think he's been crap. He's been anonymous a couple of times, but I don't think he has been that poor.

Anyway, we need more of the same please

As Otis says, not crap, but sometimes anonymous, which made me wonder what he offers above Stevenson, or Bigi, but Tuesday showed us what he really can do i think.

Harries 7
Turnbull 7
Haynes 7
Thomas 8
Rose 7
Reilly 7
Reid 6
Tudguy 6
Beavon 7

Jones 7
Finch 6

I'm probably being overgenerous given we got out played for 70 of thr 90 mins, but bonus points for working hard and never given up, but seriously lacking quality - special mentions to DKE and Thomas who were both outstanding.

I can agree with these marks. Thomas, DiKE (I'm making that happen), and Beavon were the only ones to impress me, might knock Beavon up to a 7.5.

Tudgay was just pointless IMO, offers nothing and spent most of the game waving his arms about ten yards from the opposition.

I posted yesterday that I think Rose dropped onto Akinfenwa along with Turnbull which left us a bit light in midfield until Slade brought on Finch. I'm glad that Slade had the nouse to see what the problem was and sort it out. After 15 minutes or so Akinfenwa was totally anonymous.

how can you be disapointed? nearly every single poster has praised the hard work and commitment.

its not about being messi or ronaldo. but you cant sit there and say the players were amazing outside of the effort they put in.

I think every player pretty much should be marked up a notch for the effort and endeavour they put in.

It was that, that ultimately won us the match.
