stop with the common sense. It's not welcome here

Only one team out of the 72 league clubs has scored fewer goals - is that not common sense?

This is what does my head in about Mowbray, he came out in June and said he will be doing all his business early and as soon as possible so when they come back in July the squad will be assembled and should then be settled for season start.
Here we are in bloody September and we still have no scorer and lacking in crucial areas, and the squad is far from settled.
I know and heard all the excuses from him but it's blinding obvious we are no where near a competitive squad for this league.
Posters have said "wait till end of September because that's when the squad will be complete" but by then we would have played ten league games and playing catch up big time. We only finished four points off playoffs last season and that was with a good start.
Mowbray needs to stop making excuses , I'm getting sick of him saying we were close to signing him or that player and get his arse out there , and sort the squad out once and for all.
Stop with the sob story and sort it

By the way I do not want Mowbray to leave at the moment, but he needs to pull up his sleeves and work to remedy the clear areas we struggle and stop with the sob stories

I can't see us bringing a forward in now. We've only got free agents to choose from and there is unlikely to be anyone who's a proven goalscorer sat without a club.

At best we need to get through to January still within striking distance of the play offs and hope we can get someone in then.

Reading through this thread shows that only a handful of posters, myself included, have any idea how to assess player quality. Some of the posts from people like chiefdave and Nick are absurdly over optimistic.

I don't buy any argument that says our squad is as good this year, it isn't.

Sheffied United aren't doing well, but their squad is clearly under performing. I don't think ours is as much at all, if we finished in the bottom half I don't see how anyone could be surprised.

If you match up player for player, admittedly we know some off the first list a lot more, but you'd pick nearly all of them over the new lot. This wasn't a building process, we've let go or lost nearly all of our top players from last year, and the replacements we've bought in are not enough, and I don't think of good enough quality either.

The defence and center midfield aren't strong enough, they can't battle when it'll be required. The guys on the flanks are just kids and actually have an alarmingly low amount of end product. The strikers are a mixed bunch, but maybe one of them could come good.

As I've said before, I hate SISU, but it boils down to Mowbray for me. You can't complain about the budget when you sign players on fees. We're light on center backs but it looks like he threw it all on Turnball. If it was that shit you'd keep the likes of Martin, and bring in a free agent to play along side him.

We're in for a long season I think.

This thread was born out of arguments on other threads where people were bickering.

I got shot down for questioning the recruitment and players we 'shouldn't have' let go quite a lot if I remember.

Anyway, points scoring doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things. We're all city fans and this is heartbreaking for all of us.*

* Ok, nearly all of us...

You clearly were correct in questioning the summer recruitment activity.

I think Jones will turn out to be a more consistent match winner/game changer than Murphy was plus he's ours.

Big Dan has also looked a very good acquisition so far and over a season I'm hopeful he can go on to get around 15. He also has less of burden than AA had, with Sordell and the lad from the Baggies also noted likely to share the burden.

Time will tell but I'm hopeful that now everything is settled and the system is clocking into place, that it's more a matter of when rather them if the results pick up.

Strength in depth and decent backup options are where I think we will be different from last year.
How you feeling about the squad now buddy?

I think you know my thoughts. Safe to say my views have changed somewhat to the sky blue tinted glasses I was wearing just a few short months ago.
You were right in that we were different to last year. Sorry buddy you know I like winding you up been doing it for the best part of 15 years now.
