Because he posted on here to say he was?

Yeah, I'm just asking why.

Probably for a few reasons.
The vast majority are anonymous they can say what they wish to who ever they wish and like to wind people up.
Some on here are the thick skinned type, some of those who are not members are reluctant to join as do not want risk the abuse.
Personally I ignore certain members and will not even read anything they say but it can be offensive to some when you are simply told to F-Off for saying what you think and believe.
Its difficult on this site to have a reasonable debate or even stay on thread.

There are plenty of reasonable debates on here, a lot of the people I have read didn't really want a reasonable debate though they want to make posts and then not like it when people disagree.

There's a fair amount of "abuse" either way isn't there? New members don't just get abuse for posting something, there have been a few new members recently who just come on and post and blend in. There are decent members on here who literally just post about football and don't want to get involved in the politics of things.

People have a massive issue with it being anonymous, like it or not that's part and parcel of it being the internet.

compared to some of the posters we used to get on GMK there's nothing particularly offensive that comes up on here.
Remember Smiles posting a banned list once which had 100s of user names on it - though a fair % was probably Bob Bones and Curtis with multiple user names. :)
Think Smiles spent most of his time having to keep an eye on the site to stop people getting sued :)

If you ban people for being wind up merchants then you need to look very closely at others on here.
This site is viewed by lots of fans but the vast majority do not join or log on, why do you think that is?

They can't be bothered to register and prefer to browse?

And there will still be people on here blaming anyone and everyone else apart from sisu.

Jesus fucking Christ....this is getting silly now.

EVERYONE can see that SISU have right royally fucked our club over. EVERYONE.

It's just that some can see that the demise didn't start with SISU and other parties have contributed to our downfall.

The best thing that could happen for this forum is for everyone to get over this 'some still love SISU' shit that keeps getting spouted.

How do you know he was banned?

Because I know him. We've both accumulated thousands of posts on this forum over the years so are not the same person as Otis suggests. He wasn't a WUM at all, he gave a very reasoned argument as to why fans should start their own club. Nick didn't like it so he banned it.

Bad administrator I'm afraid. Nick - if you're so confident that he was out of order please share the post with us which so offended you.

Not going to happen though is it.

I am one of the newer members and can honestly say I have received no abuse regardless of what I have posted. I have openly stated my opinions on a number or matters, from the lack of trust in the Sky Blue Trust to the infighting amongst fans and am yet to receive any backlash (que backlash) This is a forum for fans to voice their opinion, Grendel included, this should be respected regardless of wether we agree with said opinion.

It was the one about killing the club wasn't it? It was quite clearly wumming after not logging in for years.

His previous posts that constantly contradicted each other certainly looked like coming on just for a bit of fun.

If it genuinely wasnt wumming then send me a pm and can get it sorted. I always forget to check the sbt email so wouldn't be as quick.

Although I am not sure why either of you would want to if you are starting a new club and only came back on to talk about your new team?

If it was being for anti sisu like you suggested than it would be a quiet place.

ironic a thread about Grendel can get more posts than most football threads on here.
True......but I only get depressed when talking about the standard of football. We are obviously following the lead of our teams owners and focussing on anything but football.

This forum isn't a truly balanced reflection of City fans' opinions; reason being that Nick bans anyone who is too anti-SISU.

Sydney Sky Blue was banned a few weeks ago for posting a reasoned argument as to why fans should start their own club. There was zero swearing in his post and no personal insults to other posters.

I'm not sure what Nick's motivation is for stamping out anti-SISU opinion. As for Grendel, he's been trolling for years and is the last guy Nick would ban.

I fully expect my account to be blocked shortly :dead:
are nick and grendel the same person

He was obviously a complete nut, but I wholeheartedly believe he was a real person, just a very stupid one, rather than a troll account fabricated by someone...

I remember he took a load of stick for claiming he was at a Preston away game, but I could verify some of the facts he talked about regarding the pub before the game, etc.

I think he may well have been part of the "forward, forward" crew of idiots who stood behind the goal at Sixfields, and was also at the majority of away games at the time.

GMK was absolutely fantastic when it was part of the massive network of boards. I lost days at work on that site, and some of the abuse involving people getting followed round all the different teams boards, would have half the people on here needing therapy.

Did lose it's way towards the end, mainly as it was seen by others as a bastion of SISU support, and people jumped the sinking ship over to here. Despite all the bollocks and posts about favourite crisp flavours etc, it seemed a more mature board to me, where the members generally appeared to have personalities, and lives away from CCFC.

Incidentslly, the Leicester fans online board is the most similar to how GMK used to be, but not quite as mental.

Yeah except it's a tiny community of a few thousand people and actually many aren't anonymous. That's why you get trolls like Grendel who stays anonymous throwing insults at people based on real life. That makes it unbalanced.

He adds nothing to the site. He's a nasty little troll who exists with the OK of the admin team. He adds literally nothing to debate, just opposes people in a nasty nasty way. He is a text book troll. Most online communities ban people like that with good reason.

who stays anonymous

Hmm, not so sure about that bit tbh...

Anyway, FWIW I agree that bringing peoples' personal lives into things is out of order. We don't choose our family, nor our jobs... and posting under ridiculous pseudonyms is all about not being yourself really. There are occasions where it might be warranted if it means people are directly involved with the situation, but they're rare. We can all work for people and have an opinion and, indeed, under anonymity we're more likely to have an opinion opposed to our employers, aren't we. Just because we all have affiliations doesn't make us involved.

That being said, the 'abuse' in a general sense is nothing compared to GMK. Football's always going to be a bear-pit, isn't it. Never understood how people can get so upset being called a moron, when it's the pseudonym that's a moron, not me.

News to me.

Besides, I don't think a name can be a moron can it? Has to be a person or living being.

Everyone should be able to have their opinions heard whether you disagree or not, we are all here for one reason in the first place so of course there is a connection between us.

However, I do think that anybody who refers to personal and petty insults on here should be banned.
