For me, we need a change.... (1 Viewer)

So, I've not been since the Walsall and Burton games but since then, things seem to have gone from bad to worse.

When Mowbray was appointed, I was one of only a few who were unsure about his appointment. Not based on anything in particular but I just didn't feel excited by his appointment. To his credit, this season started amazingly and I was eating some humble pie. But things have gone ridiculously wrong in the past 3 months.

I think if it was any other manager, we'd be calling for his head right now and personally, I don't think we should wait to change the manager. I suspect the majority on here will probably disagree but if we harbour any ambition this season to go up, we need some alternative leadership on the run in.

This is our best shot in years of a top 6 finish and Mowbray seems incapable of motivating the players for the fight. I know it's supposedly a 2 year plan and I'm not one for constant changing of the manager but if we don't act soon, we'll limp home mid table and start from square one in summer.

Somethings not right behind the scenes I suspect. Sorry chaps, for me, we need a change if we're to continue and think about a play off spot....

Let's be honest, managers (not just at this club) have been sacked for better result returns over a similar ten week period. I wouldn't necessarily argue with continually WD40ing that managerial revolving door. If you keep rolling those dice, double 6 will eventually come in!
We thought we'd managed it twelve months ago but there is now a strong suggestion that those dice were loaded.

Not sure who would come in but a change is needed if we want to finish top 6.

Mowbray is not the man to get you promoted. He bottles it everywhere and the same thing is happening here. We need one final push just to get to the playoffs and thats only going to happen with somebody new

Yep. Fine if we want to keep Mowbray, but we will then have to say goodbye to the play-off dream this season and hope he will give it a better go next year. He just seems unwilling to change the system. One up top in Armstrong and not enough bodies supporting that one striker. We try to one two our way through teams and they have totally cottoned on to this.

Teams have adapted their game to counter the way we play. We in turn have just tried to keep on playing the same way.

The most worrying thing about TM is that if we fail to make the play-offs, that will be three times he has blown such a great position in the top 6. Twice with Middlesborough and once with us.

That's one hell of a chink in his armour. If it happens this third time then I have all but no faith in him to get it right next time. If he hasn't learned after 3 disastrous slides down the table he never will.

Totally understand where you are coming from.

However if at the start of the season someone said on March 5th we would be 7th with a game in hand and you will be asking for a change of manager would you believe them?

If I was told we'd be well behind burton i would have laughed my head off.

I didn't go today so can't comment on that, but once the play off dream has gone I wouldn't play Maddison anymore as we have nothing to gain and probably some of the others as well.

ThIs because you have underestimated what has been built at Burton over several seasons. I knew they would be up there but expected them Gatoradeinto a play off place. Although I did say just before we played them at home, after getting promotion last season why should their players get a nosebleed this season? They have proved they can lead from the front.

And I see where you're coming from but that conversation would mask the reality of the past 3 months.

Otis summed it up perfectly above...we can stick with TM but we kiss goodbye to play offs at this rate. It is a total chink in his armour.

It goes to show you how football can change over a short space of time.

The same players and squad, formation and team that got us in top 6 on fire. Either somethings happened behind the scenes causing disharmony or it is really the case that we are one dimensional, predictable and teams have sussed it out.
If I was an opposing manager my tactics would be clear. Double up on Armstrong, put 4 at the back and 5 in the middle and stop us playing through the middle.

For me, the above is happening, slowly grinding the players confidence as each bad result occurs.

TM has made some bad signings, some maybe through desperation (we've had this with Pressley). Due to defensive injuries we now have 2 kids at centre half. Maddison's signed for Norwich and has been built up too much. Fortune and Tudgay & bigi offer us nothing. Once teams block fleck, Murphy and AA we are relegation fodder.

Whether we do well or not, the main problem has been and will be our owners. All of our good players this season bar fleck/vincelot are loans that all move on. We need proper owners to invest and have a platform to build on. As it stands we won't have ANY success.

I agree with this. Once the play-offs are out of reach (5 or 6 more games based on current form), start giving Sambou and George Thomas some time

How the hell can you blame the owners for our poor form?

I'm not. Form is down to players/management. When I talk about the owners I am referring to the bigger picture. There is no foundation to build on when the majority of your 'stars' are loanees who will leave at the end of the season. The one 'potential' star we unearthed, we sell at the first hurdle.

What a load of bollocks. How much money do you want them to throw away? We already have a top 6 budget and we are currently 7th. That this is the fault of the owners is an embarrassing stance to take.

Web definition of invest:
put (money) into financial schemes, shares, property, or a commercial venture with the expectation of achieving a profit.

Note the last three words in particular.

Since beating Gillingham to go 3 points ahead at the top of the table, 7 points from 7th.

Played 16 (1/3rd of a season)
Won 3
Drew 6
Lost 7
Points 15
Points per game 0.9

We're now 7th, 3 points from play offs, and 16 points from top of the table, 12 points from autos.

I'm not blaming the owners for the recent run of form/results. I've already said this. I know what investment means you clown and also understand that financially, the club is improving but the foundations of the team is not there YET! We are a team full of 35 year olds or exciting loans. JS said in last weeks meting it's expensive to have a top grad academy but anyone that comes through is sold to fund there fuck up of an idea to own a football club. She even said herself the blueprint was on the idea of us going into the Prem and didn't happen. We sell our own players at the first chance we get. That's what I'm talking about.

Where's our footballing philosophy to build on like Burton for example have done. These owners arent right for us and it feeds down. TM needs to do better with the top 6 budget he has, agreed but the clubs a mess.

And if your looking to make a profit the last business id invest in if I had money would be a football club. How many club owners actually make a profit.

Just a blip

Blip? A blip is not scoring in a couple of games or going a couple of games pointless after a run of wins.

We've been shit since November. Read what people are writing if you've not been yourself.

3 months of largely poor results with poor performances and no light at the end of the tunnel is not a blip...

Good grief! TM is the best manager we have had in years. Still confident he will turn this atrocious form around and we will be in the play off's.

People need to stop with this it's a blip or we'd have taken this at the start of the season rubbish.

Our form since the Gills game puts us 20th in L1.

Played 16, won 3, drawn 6 lost 7. Scored 20 (11 of those in 2 games!), conceded 19. 15 points.

Pretty much everyone leaves in the summer. Screw it up this season and we're back to square one. Since relegation from the PL how many season have we had when we have genuinely been pushing for promotion. I wouldn't bet on us being up there again next year if we mess it up this year.

Otis will you now listen to me.... ive posted and said on other posts we need someone who can manage the motivation of a team not just a guy and his backroom staff who can attract good signings....James Vardy and the like were motivated to play above thier usual platform.....

I'm not in the Mowbray out camp but if this form continues until the end of the season he'll have to go. At this current rate of form we'll end up with 5 wins in the last 28 games.
