Odd season.
Yes, we made the play-offs as many expected. But we had to sack Robins and climb from 17th place to do it.
And then were undone by a daft mistake at the back, right at the end of our season. Let's not mark the player who has bossed the Sunderland defence in the air when he comes...
Not sure what the attacking plan was tonight. Playing long balls to BTA, and credit to Sunderland, Wright never had a sniff tonight.
Bottom line is, their strikers were more of a threat than ours. With only 25% possession.
Thought it wasn't going to be our night.
And then Pato rose like a fooking Phoenix and smashed that ball in! 🔥
Beautiful. Just beautiful. I'm watching that goal again.
To be 1 point off the play-offs after the nonsense this team served up in the first 15 games or so is unreal. It helps we've got a super keeper now who keeps us in a game long enough to nick delicious late winners like that.
Absolutely class signing. This season was falling apart a few weeks ago, now we're 6pts off the play-offs and have signed one of the best and most consistent CM's in the league, a real statement signing IMO.
Yep, fair play to the coaches too.
We are now hard to defeat, just one defeat in seven and that was due to the late collapse at Norwich. Defenders now know what they're doing and when they fail, we've got a keeper who has a good chance of saving the day for us.
So refreshing from the earlier...
I've got to give Lampard credit to how he's transformed the form of players like EMC and Kitching, who look different beasts now.
EDIT: And for playing Dovin. Why he was dropped in the first place I have no bloody idea.
"Oh no!!! They've equalised! Ok lads, we're done here for today! Let's get back home and get the Xmas shopping done!"
Pathetic response to adversity. King should be giving refunds to the fans who travelled south to watch that bullshit today.
