Point being - not having your own players means you have to start from scratch every year. Either loaning the same players OR like for like replacements. It's a hamster wheel that leaves you short (as we are seeing right now with a whole new defence trying to gel together). I don't disagree with...

It takes time to build a team. The last one took 3 years. There's no quick fix. It's not a lack of effort/lack of team meetings or even lack of ability. It's time learning from games, training etc. We are still missing some key links in the chain but I think there's a lot of over-reaction given...

haven't received £35mn over time - payments are staggered over years. Granted what we payout will be staggered as well but there are still wages and agents fees to cover on day one. We don't have £35mn just sat in an account waiting to be utilised.

so is the better option to overpay and/or bring someone in that doesnt fit the model? You have no idea what has gone on and what is going on. What we can say with some degree of confidence is that we've had probably our most productive window in decades in terms of the quality of player coming in.
