Sheffield Utd are an interesting case as a parachute payment team. The last couple of seasons they have made a lot of short term decisions in their recruitment - plenty of loans and quite a few older players. If they don’t get promoted this year they’ll need to be careful they don’t turn into...
I think it’s easy to prejudge him because he looks like the epitome of a sour arrogant Yorkshireman. But whenever I hear him speak or quoted, he always seems like an intelligent, fair minded guy to me.
Can’t remember the last time I felt more pessimistic about a home game. I don’t think Boro will even have to break sweat to beat us. 2 or 3 nil to them.

This is quite interesting, four teams haven’t even received a penalty (Oxford, Bristol, Stoke and West Brom). Makes me wonder if refs have been asked to give less penalties this season.
Also interesting to note that...
The problem you get as a Prem team though, is that prices double or treble. We got Torp for 2m as a champ team, but as a Prem team we would have been quoted 6m+. 3.5m for Milan would have been 8-10m.
Even a smart team like Brighton struggle to get bargains e.g. 9.5m for Cashin, 30m for that...
That’s shockingly pessimistic especially with regard to Rushworth. I’d agree on Sels and Pickford only and probably add Trafford or Kelleher to the list.
I think we’d give West Ham a decent game, and we’d probably beat them at home. Obviously they have top class players like Bowen and Paqueta, that we aren’t anywhere close to. But the point of the transfer market is for us to add that stardust in the summer.
I think it’s interesting to look at established PL players and compare them to ours.
Would you swap Thomas for Michael Keane? Nathan Collins? Kevin Danso? Mavropanous?
Would you swap Grimes for Tyler Adams? Sander Berge? Sasha Lukic?
Torp for Henderson or James Garner?
Sakamoto for Ryan Christie...
We were allowed to buy the stadium at any time, even outside of the transfer window, so let’s put that to one side for a moment.
All transfer windows are different and have different objectives, so it’s hard to compare like for like. I would say that the windows where we bought a 15m player...
I’m grateful for the stadium, but it’s not ‘entitled’ to criticise the club‘s transfer business. There was obviously money to spend and yet we’ve largely failed to spend it. After a 3 month transfer window we were left scrabbling around in the last 24 hours for some deals to pad out the squad...
It hard not to see this window as a failure for the recruitment team. We’ve obviously had money to spend and made offers, but during the last two months of the window all we’ve managed to sign is a single centre back who wasn’t even our first choice. If the recruitment team/club were happy with...
