Guesswork based on what @Skybluebeliever has been saying about us looking at "fringe players" - I think Bidwell will be first choice and we'll look at signing a back up LWB to develop. A loan seems unlikely as the parent club will want game time and I doubt Bidwell has been signed on big wages...

Not necessarily - we may have only had the budget for one, but we'll probably never know. If he's been 'ready to drop' for over a month why did we delay? Maybe we moved the budget away from Egan-Riley when JCS became a possibility again, now we've moved it back and he's gone somewhere else too...

Agreed. Feels similar to Ismael at West Brom last year where they just won't have the players to implement the style the manager wants.

JCS was almost certainly first choice - if more down to already being here and doing well & known by the coaching staff above anything else. I doubt Egan-Riley would've been so close if he wasn't next in line.

Makes sense. If you're an established prem team you're probably looking at Brereton Diaz or Piroe ahead of Gyok. Gyok needs to do it for another year in the championship for the mid-table prem teams to come knocking
