You might as well take Warwickshire out of the title. The majority of people in Warwickshire disassociate themselves from Coventry at all costs. I'm temporarily living in Bulkington and the abuse I got for 'not being from round here' and then 'being from Coventry' was amusing. Straw chewing bumpkins.

Wasps isn't Coventry, so your Leamington and Warwick and Kenilworth can feel safe going without going to the big old shit hole city.

Lot of truth in this post. Sadly many people view Coventry as a run down crime ridden poor City. I live in SW Leics but being a Cov kid always come to Cov for everything. Truth is Coventry is not well kitted out in terms of shops, restaurants and nightlife and yes it does have a reputation for getting your head kicked in after 11 oclock. The lack of facilities, I blame on the proximity to Birmingham, Coventry people hop on the train and do their shopping, have their nights out and generally make their rival City richer on a regular basis meaning the local infrastructure survives on the scraps.

It's not my home town.
My local rugby team would be Bedworth. I support Kerseley ladies RFC. I am a CCFC season ticket holder of many years and enjoy watching first class rugby. Now live.
To be honest people need to first get over it and then take advantage of the situation.
Ccfc need get the best deal they can with Wasps as Wasps have eluded too and not continue the court battles.
Crfc will reap rewards from Wasps if they ask as Wasps will have players on the perifual of the team that will be loaned out. These players will be more than good enough to get out of L1 and will not go amiss in the Championship.

The deal is done, Wasps will establish here and will be well supported, let's do what we can to get Sisu on board.

What a load of bollox, you turn Cov into Wasps reserves and you go down the pan. Given the choice would people pay to see the first team or the Reserves at currently the same ticket prices !?

Are a disgrace .
for years they have had sports teams in the city of coventry , they never supported us , they sat back and watched us drop , not caring , the rugby club got the exact same , pathetic crowds for years and nobody gave a toss about their decline .
where were these people when we had good sporting sides in the city , and now im watching wasps get 20,000 sales for their next match whilst my beloved football club get 7k and the rugga club on a 15 win streak get 1500.
This city and warwickshire is a haven for glory hunting no marks , that turned their back on their home clubs long before the arrival of sisu and wasps .
must be in their elements now , people of coventry and warwickshire are fickle , fake fans they all deserve eachother in that stadium with all the other fake sporting fans that want to watch a jolly old game of rugga .
hope they go under
dont worry , these very people would be sat next to you and me at wembley if city ever reached a playoff final , granted in the conference , but hey ho

that is what you get from Villa fans.

You have people in the comments section of wasps facebook page saying things like "go on the coventry wasps " "never watched rugby before but now i love it " "look at the amazing support " blah blah , make me sick , no better than people in coventry that support united , chelsea , arsenal etc

Grow the fuck up. It's a different sport and they are a Coventry team now, whether you like it or not.

You sound like a kid that's had to share his toy.

They'll never be a Coventry team. The quicker they go bust and fuck off the better.

Don't mistake how many none Coventrians are going to Wasp home games and of those Coventrians that are going how many have switched from footie to rugby, not that many imo. Top flight rugby is popular and will attract support especially if they are at the right end of the table. I went to the opening match v London Irish and noticed thousands of Wasp supporters in old Wasp kits and scarves not brand new ones. I think different to most and the large attendances for Premiership rugby indicates a desire to watch decent sport in our city and the same would be for football. 46 years of non achievement and with what is currently happening at city takes it's toll.

Makes me sick too. That our owners can't ignite this sort of passion in the good people of Coventry and Warwickshire. You only have to spend a very very short time on here to see what SISU ignite and it ain't passion.

Still let's blame the people. That will change our fortunes.

Thats it in a nut shell - no pride in our City. They call it a shit hole, but then shop in Leam so they remain unaware of huge improvments. Even my wife slags the City off but I think that is to irritate me.

I dont mind people going to Wasps, but dont choose them above an old and famous club like Cov.

46 years on non achievement? Like 34 years in the top flight, an FA Cup Win, Playing in Europe., yeah the last 12-15 have been beyond poor but the continual winging of not finishing in the top 6 when we were a mere minnow in the top flight drives me nuts. We'd sell our grannies to be in that position now.

So going to Sixfields was a "fiasco" but Wasps moving 85 miles is "a top class sporting team now on our doorstep albeit inherited" and was "thoroughly entertaining"?

Whilst I agree with some of your points Craig but would refer you to the crowds at the beginning of SISU's tenure, upwards of 20,000 on a regular basis. They then pressed the self destruct button and the rest is history.

For some insane reason, i have continued to purchase season ticket after season ticket (except the sixfields fiasco), travel the length and breadth of the country to watch us be embarrassed on a regular basis by lets say some of the nations smaller football clubs. The reason I have mentioned the above is that I am also going to watch wasps with a number of family and friends on Saturday. It doesn't make me a fan or supporter but there is a top class sporting team now on our doorstep albeit inherited. They are here to stay and the first match was thoroughly entertaining both on and off the pitch. Don't the people of coventry deserve to watch some decent sport and celebrate something for once after years of being dished up nothing but shit?

I dont understand this 'if your not attending cffc games then you must watch rugby' attitude. I dont fecking like rugby so why would i want to attend Cov rugby club or wasps or whereever. Its a simple choice for me, I support CCFC and as soon as i stop going i wont be switching to an alternative.

To call the whole city a disgrace for not supporting a team is just daft, people are fed up with everything that has gone on at the club and i dont get why supporting cov rugby club is going to help that.

I agree with a lot of sentiment to this but more in the Warwickshire direction. I may be biased but I've never felt any support or feeling of 'our area' to Warwickshire. In terms of South Warwickshire, if you like - Leamington, Warwick, Kenilworth, Southam, Stratford....Full of glory hunters, no mark plastic kents. They 'support' a team on nothing more than who's top end of Premier League.. I only know two lads from those areas who are active (attending actual matches, and not wearing a replica top and watching Skysports) supporters of local teams.

Based on this, it hasn't suprised me one bit that Warwickshire etc have been responsive to Wasps..in terms of football they're plastic and based who they were going to support on success. I wish that Skysports was cut off across pompous, my daddy was a Liverpool fan who went to a game once, Warwickshire.. Funny as recently Waggot said something about strengthening bonds in Warwickshire..

In terms of Coventry - yes you're right. We have pretty poor support and always have considering the size of the city.. Even if we were top end of the Championship I think we'd only have 16k - a city of glory hunters and a lot of ..... who won't ever warm to CCFC unless we are decent on Fifa and on skysports every week.

I don't actually get your point above..l have no emotional ties to wasps. I've had a season ticket for 14/15 years watching CCFC and will continue to do so if we stay in the City regardless of what league we are in. Can you say the same?

Yes it was thoroughly entertaining. Crowd interaction was good, you could have a beer in your seat, internationals were on show plus I got to wave a flag around! What do those fuckers do at the Ricoh? Sky blue Sam kicks 3 inflatable balls into the family zone at half time. It's shite before the match, at half time and actually during the match.

Yes, I can. My point was "moving" CCFC was a fiasco but "moving" and watching Wasps is "thoroughly entertaining". It really doesn't matter if you have an emotional attachment or not. Both were/are wrong. Teams should not be moved on a whim.

Not sure if you read my 2nd post but I held my hands up at being hypocritical in the sense that I had no intention of going to Sixfields yet am more than happy to watch a team who have have been moved under similar circumstances. However, SISU moved us out of sheer spite in a bid to get what they desired at the expense of distressing ACL, whereas Wasps seized an opportunity to purchase a great stadium, a place to call their permanent home where they have the ability to actually make progress where both SISU and ACL never did.

Didn't Wasps get what they did at the Expense of a distressed ACL?

Surely it is like a mugger giving somebody a kickin to get their phone but not actually getting the phone, then somebody else running up and taking their phone and giving them a backhand while walking off laughing?

Don't buy the distressing acl line. After all, we were only 9% of their business apparently and were "very profitable" with or without us.

Glad you mentioned hypocrisy. Are you one of the fans saying a yard outside the boundary would mean I would never go again. Maybe we should "sieze an opportunity" and move somewhere else with a potentially bigger fan base? Not much happening football league wise in Cornwall...

How many people in Coventry and Warwickshire are CCFC fans? Jesus, what was our average attendance when we were in the PL?

Do people really think that the 250k people who came out for the open bus parade in 87 are actually CCFC fans. All the shit that has gone on for years now has turned people off and I know a few people who are going to Wasps games are not CCFC fans. Why should they give a fuck about CCFC? I've said before about people I know who go to Wasps and more are starting to go, another one of my mates who is Irish but is a Millwall lad is going as Leinster is his home club and Wasps are playing them. Should he go to Cov rugby or CCFC just because some opinionated people on here think he should?

Yes they probably did Nicholas but were they ever going to sell to SISU? Not on Anne 'over my dead body' Lucas's watch. I do quite like the scenario you've painted above though.. would look quite good in cartoon format.

ACL and the Council are far from whiter than white in all of this but my opinion is that they ended up giving SISU a taste of their own medicine. That isn't to say they haven't milked us for the past few years paying excessive rent but did SISU tackle the situation correctly? No. Are they doing so now? No.

Well Torchy, the boundary of bullshit arena is yet to be determined so we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. But hypothetically if inside 'the Coventry Area' then yes I would go. Not sure many others would.

PS that last passage was very disrespectful to Yeovil ;)
