Between them, here's the recent record (over 24 matches) of the teams currently in the playoff places (3-6):-
W 9 D7 L 8

They really haven't been making a great job of staking a claim for the autos.

Granted we'd probably have to spend about 8M of it on Hackney's replacement, but other than that we don't need that many new players as a few more will be back from the long term treatment table over summer.
For the amount of time you spend on the ball your defence/GK needs work. Our defence spends time attacking, scoring goals and getting assists for the others. We've only conceded 1 more goal than Middlesbrough.

Giving away 2 penalties in the 1st half of a game must be concerning. If you don't go up this season you're going to have to be at your best. Wolves and Burnley are on their way down. Another one from West Ham, Spurs, Forest and Leeds to join them. That's a formidable list of clubs.

Norwich are finally getting it together after changing important players and should be strong next season. Neither Ipswich or Southampton are promoted yet. If Southampton don't go up this season they would be my favourites for next season if they keep their side together.

You either go up this season or get rid of each weak link.

Tbf our defence do as a rule defend well, create and weigh in with the lower amount of goals you'd expect them to. In terms of personel, Jones coming back from injury for next season is a big plus as he was a brilliant CB and played every game for the first half of the season until he got crocked. Lenihan returning and being given a year's contract extension is a "possible."

I'd agree with your weighing up of the goalkeeper situation however. Brynn is merely adequate at championship level and would be a perfect fit for a side planning to scrape into the playoffs around 8th, but while there's plenty in this league worse than him, he has an error in him and he's nothing special.

He's not our first priority to upgrade (striker(s) would have made all the difference this year & a Hackney replacement obviously) but it's one of those that would certainly be a strong asset to have to give us a watertight spine. Thankfully Keepers aren't usually the most expensive players comparatively.

I hope Boro do pull it out of the bag. I know how gutted this forum would be if we were in a similar position. You only have to look at the post Christmas meltdown on here to see how fragile fanbases can be.

Still, I've just woken up in the Hull Premier Inn after last night. The sun is streaming through the curtains, there's an all-you-can eat breakfast downstairs with my name on it and nkw news of only four points needed for promotion...lovely.

Sorry if this has been covered.

Is the trophy lift the final home game or the home game after or when it's confirmed?

Final home game I believe.

Checking in - Status still the same, i hate football.

Really frustrating and terrible run of form. Giving away silly goals, penalties and looking knackered from 70 minutes onwards.

2nd place is out of our control now and right now the focus has to be on hitting some form, stop leaking goals and getting some players back to fitness. Squad is paper thin at the minute.

Anyway, nearly over the line for you lot. Agony of the play offs feels the likely outcome for us. Coburn bagged two on Friday against us and im calling it now, after he was mocked at the Riverside when we beat Southampton 4-0 early this year and he lost his head, dont be shocked to see Finn Azaz put us out.

Yes im being negative, it just feel very typical at the minute.

Roll on saturday where il be full of hope once again

Ive wanted Boro up all season as I’ve got some close Boro mates but I’m afraid all I can see for you guys now is losing to Southampton in the POs.

Things change very quickly in this game and it’s nowhere near over as far as autos are concerned. A bit like the opening 5 games there will be results at this stage nobody sees coming; and in any case, nobody will want Boro in the playoffs.

The play offs will be the worst possible outcome, just feel it will totally derail you if you miss out on autos.

I do hope you get your shit together. I don’t dislike Ipswich, but they get so much luck decision wise it’s ridiculous

Let's be honest, you need a CH better and younger than Ayling. And if you want to be serious automatic promotion contenders, you cant continue with Sol Brynn in nets. So thats already 4 signings. Striker, Hackney replacement, CH, Keeper. Thats also assuming the likes of Whittaker doesnt get tempted to move. The likes of Wolves will have money to spend and will end up with a few leaving.

It was all well and good both you and us keeping together our teams last summer and not getting picked apart. To do that 2 summers in a row after failing twice is highly unlikely. This is why many of our fanbase knew it was this season or never. Itll be a very difficult league to get out of next season. There could be up to 6 parachute teams (looking less likely though af Lesta are going down and Ipswich are going up), both Hollywood big times, 8 team play-offs. And we are never likely to hold on to the likes of Rudoni or Hackney after failing again and survive another summer of PL bids.

The goalkeeper issue I did cover further up and is a valid point, though at least they're not the most expensive of positions.

As far as CBs go, Jones returning and Lenihan too as a possible extension should cover those bases, with our list of CBs then reading Fry, Malanda, Jones, Lenihan possibly, with Ayling used either as a sub or in a back 5 only. Oh and there's Edmundaon too in theory but to be perfectly honest I'd flog him.

One thing people forget about us is how many players like new signings we can suddenly pull out of thin air from the treatment room from our yearly injury crisis after a summer's rest.🤣

Dewpsite wanting my team to get over the line asap I really do a t you guys to pull it out of the fire still. Living in Suffolk , I have found the arrogance of most (not all) Ipswich fans unbearable! I also would love for a season where no parachute clubs went up just to shake the bloody system up . The whole parachute payment system is broken

The kicker is if Ipswich do it and Saints through the playoffs, it ends up as just a regular season...🙂↕️

If we can't do it then I'd prefer it to be Millwall that beat us to second and Hull through the playoffs.

I don't expect this to be the case, but if we're not champions before the Wrexham game and only confirm it on the day - presumably they have the trophy there to present after the game? Or would we have to wait till the last game? Because that would be shit

Wanted Captain Cuck to be there for this after his celebrating like he'd won a World Cup antics at their place. Could have seen what a proper celebration looked like. Unfortunately the most predictable thing ever happened again so he probably won't be there.

Yeah, it would be there.
As it stands, if Ipswich win every match, we won’t see the trophy lift after any home match due to them having two matches to play after we finish the Wrexham match and the ‘gap’ being 6 points rather than 7… which would be shit

It would be a pain if that happened I must admit. Hopefully some more twists and turns to come yet and the reason I remain hopeful tha this could be a season of difference is Ipswich’s run in with 5 away in short term and then also the same fixture congestion issue for Saints.

Let's hope it happens. Then of course, we need to beat them to stop the Disney train from getting in the playoffs.
