In truth I don't think we'll win the playoffs (even if we got him and Whittaker back and without half of our other midfielders being knackered for fighting for the international cause less than 60 hours before with jetlag into the bargain) You'll laugh, but it's a dreaded Hoodoo again!
We have always lost at Wembley. Every single time, Fa Cup, league cups, playoffs, lost the lot. We won the league cup when it was moved to the Millenium stadium with Wembley getting redeveloped. Went up through the playoffs when it was still home and away games at each others' grounds. But Wembley terrifies me.
Writing off our own chances, if we can't go up I'd want Hull to do it so no parachute sides go up this year. This just speaks more to me as a football fan, to keep the romance of the game alive.
This will more likely inspire us too with massive investment in just 3 positions really (2 strikers who can score for around 34Millon and around 8M on Hackney's replacement unfortunately) to hit the ground sprinting next year and hopefully have the kind of cushion you did by christmas to sail up in the autos. A target of 50-55 points by christmas is certainly achievable.
We have MUCH more chance of this than we'd ever have in the playoffs.

I agree but its play offs, all you need to do is click for a couple of games. Boro have already beaten Ipswich and I think they battered Southampton not all that long ago.

If Millwall don't win both their games this week and we do - we go into the Wednesday match needing a win for promotion - not mathematically certain but Millwall couldn't catch us and Middlesbrough would still be 12 points behind with 4 to play (and that's if they win both their games).
So - if we win at Hull, Saturday is the start of the promotion party.

Indeed it could. There could feasibly be a chunk of sides at the top, then a good 20 point gap then "the rest" the way it's shaping up.
In a way it would be hilarious if the top 8 was composed of ourselves, Spurs/Hammers, the Eternal Bouncers, Wolves, Ipswich, Wrexham, Saints and Norwich ALL on over 80 points, then a huge gap to the side in 9th (Derby or Brum) on 60 points or just over with all the beatings from the teams at the top effecting the rest of the table and the absence of a guaranteed 6 point side like Sheff Wed boosting their points that little bit.
Primarily, because the championship is bringing in the silly expansion of the playoffs to 8th to supposedly give the majority of sides something to play for until the end, so it would be awesome to stick it in their face if 5 games from the season end everyone in the top 8 was mathematically safely in them, meaning they just went round hoovering points up at will from the vast majority of the league now on the beach
One thing's for sure though, whilst brilliant to watch the fact is we don't deserve to get promoted this season. if we get promoted next season, we'll deserve it in spades and it can only be wonderful for our survival chances in the Prem if so in the long run.

Boro have sold their gaffer very short imo, leaving him to fight a promotion race with Tommy Conway with a back up of Leo Castledine (Who has only ever performed in L1) as their centre forward options is going to cost them dear - Simms and Asante are our back up strikers and would walk into that side which shows the difference

Problem for Boro is they’re not in form compared to others in the hunt for promotion. Millwall bang in it and Saints are going to end up in the play offs. We know very well that having momentum into the last batch of games is key.

Oh against the sides most likely as it stands to be in the playoff mix with us so far (Ipswich, Hull, Saints) our record this season reads P5 W3D1L1 Aggregate scores, 11-3 to us.
Doesn't matter one bit. The Wembley Hoodoo would prevail.
In 14/15 our record against the 3 other sides was even better than this season, at P6 W5D0L1 aggregate scores 14-3 to us, with the only game of the 6 not won coming against Ipswich, the one side who we didn't even end up playing in the end. We beat Norwich, who would be our final opponents both times in the league in the 14/15 season, on aggregate 5 - NIL. We stormed to the playoff final, with two straightforward wins making it a 5-1 complete demolition job of Brentford in the semis. Every neutral thought we were certs to go up.
Then the Twin Towers cast their wicked spell....Our team coach driver screwed up the route to the stadium completely, the side were stuck in traffic around London for hours getting more stressed, our fans in the stadium who were well aware of the Hoodoo already getting more nervous by the minute as Norwich warmed up and our side hadn't even been seen in the ground at all. The team were hot and bothered with no match preparation and arrived about 10 minutes before kickoff, went sprinting through the concourse to the changing room, hurriedly put kit on and legged it out onto the pitch, no time to warm up, nothing.
And we lost 2-nil....
Wembley finds a way.
Believe me, we'd have more chance next season.

Those figures sound ridiculous, but they're not. Ipswich spent a combined total of 35M on Philogene and Clarke. We'd need two strikers of that kind of level to ensure promotion next season as whilst not guaranteed I (and most on here tbh) suspect there would be more sides in the mix in 26/27.

Exactly. Sunderland beat us last season and they never do that either. Prior to last season we'd pulled their pants down in almost every game going back a few decades. It was the season to shake off their Hoodoos amd the signs were there against us.
Meanwhile this year our own jinxes have been plodding on as per usual, including those we have over other sides. Nope, nothing to see here.

Was pointed out on Sky last night that our subs had scored 37 goals between them this campaign (39 by the end of the game).
That's the same as Charlton, Blackburn and Oxford have managed all season.
Could add another 12 to that tally if BTA had been fit.

Most Boro fans fear it, but with very good reason, taught through bitter experience.
It goes back ages, something will happen to fulfill it. There's the usual reasons, such our opponent performing out of their boots (relevant in our games against you this season) our own side just inexplicably having a stinker, reffing decisions going against us...
Even global affairs with our only 2 sides ever tipped to win the league title owing to the previous season and who we had in our squad in the 14/15 & 39/40 seasons of all times. Finally, a chance to win the greatest prize in English football, nothing can stop it...Not so fast lads, is that some vague Eastern European ArchDuke getting murdered I see? Ooh, what's that shouty little bloke with greasy hair and the shittest tache known to man doing over in Poland? Oops, there we go, have a couple of fucking World Wars to screw that right up for you. Nice juicy long ones too so your league storming squads are either dead in combat or retired by the time this shit resumes....To the ridiculous, such as what happened for the playoff final as I said above.
This season for us it's also been down to having strikers that couldn't score crack in Birmingham City Centre of course.
When Hoodoos break they almost invariably do so enmasse, giving clear signs that it's your year, a la Sunderland 24/25.

With all due respect, this is a loser's mentality. We had it too until Jimmy Hill and now Frank Lampard came and snapped us out of it. You need a top class coach. Money alone will never do it
