9 points from 2 games? 🤔

Sheffield Wednesday? I've read the plot. Just turn up and take the 3 points. Most of their games are close. We occasionally have games that we control but struggle to score. I expect us to win but it isn't a given.
If we win our next 3 it's 89. That includes the Wednesday game

I get that. But we were talking about the next 2 then Wednesday as a given joins in.

We will get enough points. But I wouldn't be surprised if Wednesday managed a draw against us.
based on what?!

we will 100% smash them!

Even though it would be the most CCFC thing ever to lose to them, it’s not going to happen and we’ll smash them.

I think Derby will be tricky, wouldn't be surprised to see a draw - especially with the players coming back from internationals. Hull will be open - they are having to win, depending how Good Friday results go - so huge pressure on them

Wednesday's 1 win was against Portsmouth on 20th September, game week 6. If they beat us assuming they don't win a game before then that would end a 35 match run without a win. Surely a record, and another one for the history books in our record breaking season.

No. He’s talking about beating them after also winning the two before.

It’ll be a tough game but they’re another team that hasn’t got good results against the top teams in the division away from home. This is another fixture you’d expect us to win.

Lost to Millwall, Hull, Watford on the road and Ipswich at home this side of NY.

They’re another team that can’t afford to draw this game because the teams around them are winning. It’s not like the bottom 4-5 where a draw probably gains them points on the teams around them.

Agree with this, the Wednesday game is too soon. It will be Blackburn or Pompey
I suppose a draw on Good Friday between Millwall and Boro makes it a possibility that we could ‘be on’ for an unofficial promotion party v Wednesday. That’s dependent on us beating Hull and 2-3 results going our way. We probably can’t be 16 points clear that game but more than likely 3 wins on the bounce for those games makes Blackburn a likely date we mathematically go up.

Boro drawing 2 games (not impossible) and us winning our next 3 guarantees promotion.

What if Millwall get 4 points and Ipswich win their Easter Monday (no Good Friday fixture for them) game?

Edit: You’re right, all teams would be on 73 points and we’d be on 86 going into Sheff Wednesday. Presuming we win that’d 89 points with all chasing teams with 76 points.

From my POV, I want Millwall to beat Boro because I fancy Norwich to beat Millwall on Easter Monday.

Shout out to this guy who posted this after we lost to Monaco and just before they lost to Burton Albion

He was dead right about us not being promotion rivals in his defence

i'd forgotten about that game. monaco were amazing especially 2nd half. i wonder if any of their players fancy a go in the prem? checking the stats 5 goals with 6 shots- no rushworth in that match for us.

Yeah tricky game Derby. Still in the race for the playoffs. I like their 5 players that can go in their front 4 (Agyemang, Morris, Szmodics, Brereton-Diaz, Brewster). We're on blistering form again though, 7 wins in our last 8 games.

We all have the scars and remember trips like Forest Green, Yeovil, Sutton and Northampton for us older ones but this team is different, this ownership is different, doesn't stop the odd slip up but we have to shift our view that this is happening, we are doing it and we are top because of that. So if we do draw against Wednesday, as per this season, we will see a reaction, we will then see others drop points and no doubt, we will close it out.
I'm feeling positive today, I still have days where I question everything I just wrote above but genuinely think we are good this year,

Good to see finally that your head has ruled your heart. It isn't just the lead we have but the little matter of Ipswich v Millwall then Ipswich v Middlesbrough still to come. They can't all get 3 points to eat into our lead even if we lose the corresponding game.

9 points lead with just 7 games to go. We've already hit the magic 1 PPG our rivals have to get more than us. Each win we get makes the target higher even if they win.

If we get 2W 2D and 3L from our remaining seven games - which would be a very disappointing run - we will have 88 points. I definitely think that’s enough for automatic promotion and gives us a great chance of winning the title.

I actually think we will get 90+ 😊

We’re on course for 94-96 points and Hull/Watford are not as difficult as Swansea/Sheff U away.

The only way we don’t hit 94 points is if we win the title with 3-4 games left and we’re hungover for the rest of the season.

The reason I'm happy about our lead in the table is we've reached the stage of constant unexpected results. I would guess we will need 3 wins and a draw for 90 points to be Champions from our last 7 games. That would give us 90 points.

Middlesbrough 7 wins 92 points.
Ipswich 8 wins 93 points
Millwall 7 wins 90 points.

Next on the agenda Middlesbrough v Millwall. If Millwall win they go above Middlesbrough 😃 I'll be watching the maximum points possible with great interest. Ipswich 6W 1D 1L is only 88 points.

Boro play Millwall and Ipswich so if they win both games, the latter teams definitely won’t catch us.

Promotion is all but wrapped up atm, to hit 92 points, our PPG would need to drop to 1.7 PPG and even then, we’ll be out of reach for all of those teams.

We won't need 92 points. 92 points would put us in 2nd on GD to Middlesbrough and Ipswich above us by a point if both sides won every game....which as you say they can't. Millwall need to win their last 7 to get to 90.

It looks to me like we are quite likely to have confirmed promotion in another 3 games if we win 2 or more of them. If not it won't be far off and we will know what we have to do to win the title.

Reckon we’ll be fine even with 1.0 PPG.

It’s all but done imo. Standards obviously need to remain high and we should aiming for 96+ points imo. The maximum of 101 is a bit too much and think we’ll drop off slightly when we secure automatic promotion.

Hull is our toughest game remaining and I’m not scared of that or Wrexham.

It’s doable.
