Anyone have any big regrets when it comes to the City? (27 Viewers)

I was just thinking back and the one big regret for me was not watching the Sky Blues beat Bayern Munich, when we qualified for Europe that one time.

It was 1970 and I was still a young kid.

We had beaten Trakia Plovdiv in the first round.

We had played them away in the first leg in Bulgaria and beat them 4-1 and then at home, for the second leg we beat them 2-0. I was there for that game.

The next round we were drawn against the very mighty Bayern Munich!

We played them away in the first leg and we went to Germany and got thumped 6-1 and our keeper, Eric McManus, had a complete mare and was apparently responsible for a number of their goals.

So, it came to the home leg and I just couldn't bring myself to go. I was so distraught after we had lost 6-1 against them in that first leg and I felt I just couldn't go, knowing we were already knocked out.

Anyway, they came here and we actually beat them 2-1. A fabulous achievement.

Have always kicked myself since that I didn't go. We beat one of the best teams in Europe 2-1!

Big regret for me.

@Otis my City-supporting will be complete when I watch us play in Europe. The likes of Burnley, Forest, Palace and Villa have all gone from the Championship to European competition within a fairly short time recently so there is hope.

So say you went to about 15x home games on which the average attendance was about 16k, yet you still missed out when we took 50k to Wembley?

How does that work?

Can’t remember the exact mechanics of it. Sure there would have been a way if I was a bit older. Remember queueing up from 5am or so to buy tickets for Forest away in the League Cup semi too.

The old man couldn’t get a ticket for the cup final. We went to pretty much ever home game and the semi final. Gutted.

Had Sciatica and was forced to miss the Checkatrade final. I had a ticket but I couldn’t sit down!

I was on holiday in Croatia for the playoff final vs Exeter…“I haven’t got time to go to the fucking Game of Thrones island I’ve gotta get the boat back for the fucking game”!
I was the only person jumping around like an idiot in a small bar in a small coastal town 20 miles from Dubrovnik.

I went but none of my mates who I normally went up with did.

You had to have ticket stubs from 5 games, can't remember the games exactly but I know Oxford on the Friday night was one. So early season attendance counted for nothing.

It was a proper shitshow. Lots of regulars missed out.

Used to go every week and POTG but my mate predicted a Wembley visit so we got STs around February which turned out to be a rare smart move

I fell out with mates over it too and in hindsight it didn't make a jot of difference. Went to to the Cup Final. My Dad got a ticket from a guy at his pub. Cost £45 for the £6 ticket. Not sure what that is in today's money. I wasnt a STH back then but still only missed one game H or A that season, Chelsea away.

Missed the Checkatrade but that was because of my bone marrow transplant, was in the middle of treatment. I dont regret not going as my Dad, wife and son went. I really wanted my lad to go as I thought we might never get to Wembley again...oh ye of little faith!

We started going from November after I told my lad we weren't going. In the October HT he'd done a SBITC thing at St Nicks and they all got two free tickets to a game. We chose Notts County, won 3-0. Got a ST then for the rest of the season.

Don't regret it and never got the anger aimed at attendees from fellow fans. The anger should have been aimed at the Club hierarchy, not fans who simply wanted to support their team.
