Hull have a pretty favourable run of fixtures in February. If we can maintain the current gap to them and Ipswich and put 3 points between us and Boro by the end of Feb I'd be very happy with that.
Bristol City have shown they can be a very decent side on their day. I know they have lost a couple of key players, but I am hoping that they still put on a good show on Saturday

They are still just 4 points off the play-off places, so all still to play for.

Looking at our Feb games

Sheff United (A) - They have won the last 7 home games
Coventry (A) - We just don't beat you
Oxford (H) - Must win
Leicester (H) - New manger could get them going

That then leads us into two away games at Brum and QPR.

On paper our remaining away games look very tough with the home games a little more favourable. If we can still be top 2 by end of Feb i would be very happy

Hull's March fixtures are pretty rough though. Would be really surprised if they're still pushing automatics by the end of the season.
I think it will be between us, Middlesbrough, Ipswich and maybe even Millwall as a surprise contender

You'll get at least 7 points out of that lot. Would be a good return. I'm thinking you'll be a point ahead of us after the next 4 games,

I see Bamford is out for three weeks although they won last night - we need those lower teams to come good against the likes of Boro and Ipswich

Even with the addition of Onyeka, our recent form and performances are too bad, and yours too good, for me to see past a Boro win, and probably a big one.

Form? There's nothing wrong with our home form. It's away that's doing us.

For the season

W10 D2 L1

We drew 2 of our first 3 games at home. Since then we are W9 L1

Add to this the role Onyeka will play. We're all in for a treat. Next 2 both home wins.

Adaptable manager, team full of confidence and energy against a stubborn manager with a team lacking in both.

I don’t see anything other than an away win, which is why I’m buying about 20 pints if we manage it.
I will judge after Saturday

If we lay a marker down and brush Oxford aside it will do us the world of good

If we labour to a scruffy one goal win or god forbid drop points it would be hard to go into the Boro game confident

That being said, Boro as good of a run as they are on will drop pts eventually

In the second half against Lesta and in parts against Millwall we looked much more like it, but in the same games we allowed ourselves to be wide open and exposed. Those sides couldn’t exploit those weaknesses, Boro can and will.

Do you think that Onyeka, who has been brought in to strengthen our midfield, won't be able to strengthen our midfield?

Seems like you've forgotten the gulf between the Prem and the Championship.

I’ve said before I think he’s what our midfield is missing most, but the proof of that will be in performances. Supposing he does play as well as you and I think he will, our defence is pissing goals away every week because our manager can’t help himself telling them to charge forward even when we’re in front.

Onyeka on his own can’t mitigate that.

It’s even better than that.

If you’re that confident take me up on my little wager.
Far from it, I suspect it will be really tight, probably 1 goal either way or a draw. I'm just struggling to see the logic of expecting a BIG Middlesbrough win given our home record and against a side that has won less than half of their away games this season and who have failed to beat us in their last 9 attempts.

One of the best away sides in the division, and I’m basing this on performances rather than results in any case.
