Yes - ifs and buts get you no points, but I think most people would agree we should have taken at least one win from Preston, Southampton and Charlton.
Draw at Charlton was probably fair but really should have won the other two.

My gut feeling hasn't changed anyway. Will be knocked off the top on the 16th, out of the top two by March but should surely have enough to secure a playoff spot. Won't rule out being overtaken by Hull either who are defying xG like nobody's business.

We haven't won away from home for ages. If we don't address that our home form might not be enough.
There's also a reason no one publishes a 3 game form table, because it's too small a sample to be meaningful.
Our home forms the best in the league, we’re not blowing teams away but there’s no reason why we can’t win the 9 left, it’s the last 3 games ? It’s the best judge of what form we’re in and it’s ok, think everyone’s needs a reset, fans and players,

No we haven’t but we haven’t been as good as the first 1/3rd of the season. They are two different things.

There have been very few matches where we have been totally outplayed.

We rarely get outplayed , we do however surrender a fair few chances / half chances

yep - needs to improve. But 23 points from 15 away games (Ipswich 16 from 13). Need to regroup and go again. Ideally with Frank the Tank.

The main concern for me is if we take the season as a whole , the last 11 games which is over 1/3rd of the season weve been in upper mid table form .

We need to find some consistentcy again or we wont go up automatically

Frank seemingly oblivious to the gaping hole in midfield doesnt want to adjust anything

Gurney has his heart in the right place but you don’t tune in to hear his footballing insights let’s be honest.

He’s a fan with a microphone ….

He said on a fans forum that he frequents daily…

Getting close to the point where we’ve been poor for as long as we were good. The good run properly started with Blues at home in September and ended at the end of November.

It's extremely unlikely that we win every remaining home game. We will need to win at least some away games and tomorrow is one of the better opportunities to do that. West Brom not far away either is another one, but there's a lot of very tricky away fixtures in the form of Hull, Sheff Utd, Watford etc.

My gut feeling is we'll win the next 3 and Restore at least a 6 point gap to Boro. We'll then manage/maintain that gap until the end of the season.

If that happens happy days. I think Boro will come here and score a hatful as we commit everybody forward while nervously advancing the ball at a snail's pace. Like Ipswich but worse.

We have such a good record against Boro that they are going to beat us a some stage ,there again every season we think this will finally win at Preston.

taking the lead in 4 out of 5 away games and winning none of them has cost a considerable number of points on its own

this is the biggest thing for me. fine being aggressive from the outset because like you've pointed out, it's working (we take the lead). if we can't turn those leads into points, there's a problem and it needs to be addressed. big test tmrw.

When we've taken the lead we've continued committing loads of players forward, in my view needlessly. We tweaked things against Lesta and got a better balance between attacking threat and being more solid in midfield.

I don't know why he didn't do that against Norwich at half time at least, if not starting with it.

I’d have loved to see Gurney do an opinion piece on Man U or Nottingham Forest and then interview Ferguson or Clough the next day

Ferguson was just a bully and Clough probably pissed most of the time

To be honest if I was Lampard and that idiot came to interview me after that I’d tell him to fuck off

February is going to be the make or break month. With Ipswich having a run of away games we need to exploit any slip ups they have. On the flip side, continuation of recent form could see us drop out of the top 2.

I am on record saying Gurney is not my cup of tea, I think he is a below average pundit and let's his emotions overrule his professionalism a lot

But I do not think he has said a lot wrong in that article, he has a job to do (albeit I think he does it poorly a lot) and is under no obligation to tow the line and sometimes you do get the impression Frank sees himself as a bit above speaking to the local rag and CWR

Conversely, Frank is also right by saying the run of form we had was unsustainable and we were never going to keep walloping teams 3 and 4 without reply

Our home forms outstanding, no one is fretting about our home form, but it's unlikely to be enough on its own.

If we don't sort out our away form we could well miss out

I think we're a top 6 side who did far better than expected, now a top 6 side doing worse than expected. If we could just perform roughly in line with our playing strength we'd get over the line.

Ipswich should be where we are, I think everyone deep down thinks that

But I think we have a better side than Boro and the rest of the Top 6 on paper

It’s pretty obvious what Lampard thinks of him.

Last season he accused Eakin of having a bromance with Lampard as he kept calling him Clive. He’s an idiot.

Adding Armstrong and Sarmiento to their first XI makes it closer for me, along with having the best CM in the league in Hackney. The difference between the sides in a few weeks won't be ability though, it'll be confidence and energy. They just have much more of it plus a manager willing to adapt to what's in front of him.
