Gurney is correct though
In what?

He wants us to play 3 at the back, which has never been Lampard's preferred option, isn't the shape we've recruited for (especially this month) and doesn't suit most of the things we try to do on the ball. He's questioning why Woolf isn't playing because he cost £4m when he's now behind Lati in the pecking order - so the answer is clearly Lampard doesn't rate him. What on earth does he mean by "burying the hatchet"?

It's typical know it all contrarian nonsense from him.

He was also going on about Wilson deserving a chance in goal after Rushworth had played a few games earlier in the season.

i see us top of the league in both

everyone in december was saying “let’s see where we are come january shall we”

end of Jan we are top of the league and everyone’s still moaning

it will become a self fulfilling prophecy if we aren’t careful. Need to believe

It's not moaning. Our lead has been massively reduced and we're in poor form. Self fulfilling prophecy has nothing to do with it.

If we don't sort our away form out we could miss out on the autos, that's a fact.

We are in awful form away from home and a back 3 isnt the worst idea , nothing wrong with what gurney said at all

It’s def just a blip, teams that have won the last 2 out of 3 don’t have a blow out, we’re always going to leak goals unfortunately, but away it really is fine margins, Southampton 1-0 at half time, da silva gets sent off, draw at least is he doesn’t, Norwich,1-0 up at half time, Thomas forgets he’s a defender 35 secs into the 2nd half, should have been a point at least, Birmingham 2nd goal Thomas again, we don’t get goals like those given us. Those mistakes cost us, it’s simple, we can still play how we are just cut the stupid mistakes out

I don't care really.

Pretty obvious that you can't play Thomas-Asante at 10, have Mason-Clark not track back and Torp have zero impact on the game. Would expect either a change of formation or Grimes, Eccles and Rudoni to be the three in midfield.

Point is i doubt they ever looked as poor and open as we have done recently

A very positive way of viewing a pretty worrying picture

If we are honest , we have been objectively poor for the last 1/3rd of the season

We haven't won away from home for ages. If we don't address that our home form might not be enough.
There's also a reason no one publishes a 3 game form table, because it's too small a sample to be meaningful.

Which is why we need to reconfigure the midfield and ideally bring in Frank O

We played 3 at the back vs Charlton and looked poor. He has tried it. It's obvious he's not going to switch to it as a long term option.

We had a great run of form last seaosn with it , so he knows it can work for us .

He doesnt have to play it , its a suggestion from gurney , and there is nothing wrong with it

Normally I'd be all for it but having recruited 3 wingers I just don't see it happening, unless we went 5 4 1, which I can't see happening either

There's very fine margins to a lot of these games. Taking the lead in 4 out of 5 away games and winning none of them has cost a considerable number of points on its own which if you just convert a couple of into wins, makes a big difference to the table.

These games all turned on either big individual mistakes or in one case, someone getting sent off. Middlesbrough should have been thrashed at Stoke and got away with it, even late on Stoke blew a glorious chance over the bar to equalise. Against West Brom the opposition smash it in their own goal free of charge.

Yes - ifs and buts get you no points, but I think most people would agree we should have taken at least one win from Preston, Southampton and Charlton.

totally agree - the mistake at Charlton, they dominated Soton in the first half and would have gone on to win, preston away where they scored with their only shot on goal. Even Birmingham - ridiculous goals to concede but I thought we dominated the game. Granted it's not been perfect but it's fine margins - and as Frank said on Monday, it's fine margins in both boxes.
