I think dropping Eccles in alongside Grimes as you've suggested will shore things up a bit.
I'd be OK trying Esse at 10 but personally, if available, I'd play Rudoni there with instruction to operate in the width of the 18 yard box and stop going out wide.

Though I don't see how you can drop a plater thats got 2 in 2 though Lampards done it before
Exhibit A: Ellis Simms

We will lose again. Narrow but still a defeat. We'll be bossed in midfield and concede at least one goal by the Kitching-Da Silva combo

We shouldn't be surprised; haven't played well since Boro. A series of narrow wins at best in that time. Bossed by Millwall and Norwich, struggled to beat a poor Leicester team. Rushworth is the most frequent MOTM - says a lot. We have become very predictable - Grimes will loop a 50-50 cross in and so on.

Frank's 'new manager bounce' has well and truly run out. Finally. He has had a better run than most - Robins' has run out already at Stoke.

8 or even 9 of the first choice starters were in the team struggling under Robins. Unsurprisingly over time they eventually return to that level - the biggest factor is the quality of the individual players. Managers can only affect so much. You can only make a silk purse from a sow's ear for so long

On the January transfer thread there is a consensus on on the need for players in key defensive positions - centre back, left back and strong man midfield. So why think we'll win, is all I ask?

He just needs to not be as predictable IMO,get some of the bench in and properly shake it up, whatever you opinion is.

Which is why you need to play Sakamoto. Esse has only crossed the ball once in 3 games.
When was the last time Haji scored a header and you want to start a player on the basis that they cross well.

Esse has scored in consecutive games and is just a better player, wanting to drop him for Sakamoto is just not sensible.

Simms got dropped because Haji also scored…

I might as well not watch then. Anyone thinking of going as well should just do a little tourist day in London, maybe visit the Natural History Museum or something. Thanks for the intel @Gibbo

I like it, but Esse and Torp still leaves just Grimes in the middle when we attack, which is our biggest issue.

I'd have Eccles in but more to sit with Grimes or just ahead of him and then Torp in the 10. Eccles has shown he's capable of playing deeper and further up so we could even shift him about based on how the game is going.

Well hopefully we sign a CM then cos not sure who else there is. I wouldn’t play Esse centrally he’s far too raw and doesn’t add much off the ball.
‘Too raw and doesn’t add much off the ball’ lol

That isn't true - Before the red card at Southampton is as good as I have seen us away from home all season (I refuse to count the Sheffield Wednesday game, no side should do so either)

2nd half against Leicester we looked like the side we did at the start of the season

Anyone had their digital tickets through yet? I'm selling x1 adult and x2 U18s but didn't want to sell them yet in case there's something stopping the transfer of them to someone else.

There were plenty of spares flying around for the Stoke cup game which was digital tickets so on that precedent suspect you should be fine though

Wright 2 goals in 17. Simms 10 in 12 starts, or thereabouts. Wright is the better footballer, but I'd go with a goalscorer.

I’m just pointing out that Lampard had good pretext for starting Haji v Millwall because he scored v Leicester.

My view is that we should start Simms at the weekend, his goal scoring record this season when we’re away is very good.

Any chance Markelo starts we think?

Just as a curveball and FL wishing to do something a little different with the squad?

Might be just the logistics of it all in terms of timing, but I am wondering whether we got him on Tuesday with a mind for him to be involved this weekend.

He will surely make the bench won't he? If he's settled in well enough.

Doubt it, Esse has 2 in 2 and Sakamoto has been effective off the bench

I swear you don’t watch games. And haven’t learned how to read stats either. You keep shitting yourself on here with a big smile on your face. You do you I guess.

Anyway, get a couple more in before the window closes, win this and Oxford and suddenly things look ok again. For the first time this season I'm tempted not to watch and just check in at full time but I don't know if I'll be able to resist.

Just destined for Obikwu to bag a goal in this game isn't it? Hoping we do em' but not got high hopes. Heading down for this one always a decent away day!

I'm in exactly the same place.

Might be a game where you just look at the result at 5pm.

Saves any anguish and high blood pressure.

Like back in the day where you couldn't find a way to watch every game so you'd just be checking your phone occasionally. Might take some of the stress away.
