I don't get the Tats bashing. There is no doubt that when he's on the ball there is a definite sense of anticipation which is palpable around the stadium. He's a massive asset to our team and the club in general. But back up for any player can only be a good thing. What amazing progress we've made under King/FL. These are exciting times...

Spot on.

SBT … we need better quality squad options

SBT …. Why are we getting better quality squad options ?

I don’t think anyone was calling for a third winger.

If the fee was €5 million euros, that means we’ve spent £4.3 million on this deal. Surely if true (based on the report tagged in the post), with our limited funds compared to the likes of brum and Ipswich, there’s a better ways to spend our money.

He appears to be able to use two feet so that is a promising starting point.
So competition for Tats and I can see Esse being used in the 10 role competing with Rudoni.

if we get a CM I will be happy.

Always said Tats was missing pace to get by players thats why he constantly drags it back and forth, be sorry to see him go if thats the case but I won't feel gutted seems a genuinely nice guy but very lightweight whereas Noah seems quite robust in comparison ...onward and upward

Looks half decent from the limited I've seen. Seems the right kind of signing. Now he's got 6 months to settle in without the pressure of being thrown in the deep end. It just seems a weird one as we're crying out for a CM. Seems like we have plenty of money for the right signings.

If we go up, we'll probably try to make Esse a permanent move and move Sakamoto on if this Markelo is any good.

Frank and his team certainly know more than any of us about tactics in modern day football and it looks like they're sticking to the" we'll score more than you" policy. Hope the players are still on board because the rest of the championship have wised up to us. Guess as fans we need to trust the madness.

Signed this random when we could have got Sarmiento cheaper- who's proven at this level. This guy clearly on peanut wages
The only thing Sarmiento is proven at this level is not good enough, and he’s on his 4th Championship loan spell, Brighton obviously dont think he’s ready and he’s 23 we want to go up, if the recruitment team believe Markelo is what we need then we have to trust them

The club will have identified this lad as a player they think can take the step into premier league football otherwise why would they pay money for him now

We will sign a midfielder im sure , and if its the brentford lad then you can probably guess who will start in midfield for us should we go up

I really hope that's the case and not just a "follow the model" signing, where it's not someone to actually get us over the line but someone we hope to flip a profit on in a couple of years. We are currently, past that bit.

I think we all know that our permanent signings from the King era, are all done with a view to them a) improving the team & b) with a view to flipping a profit in a few seasons. The recruitment is all data driven and 90% of the work done to identify these players doesn't involved the head coach. I have no problem with that method, as it has got us to the pinnacle of what we are trying to acheive. B

The loans we've recently acquired, we assume, are more Lampard's needs being addressed. He will have been consulted at shortish notice, as to what positions he needs help with.

This transfer falls into the "model". Which at this crucial point in time, doesn't make a great deal of sense given Lampard's needs were already addressed by the loans.

For me the "model" needs to be paused and we need full focus on what the squad needs NOW to finish the job. If we fail, the "model" starts all over again, but if the succeed the "model" changes drastically.

For what it's worth, I like the look of the lad. But I dont get it.

If we sign a midfielder before the end of the window i think the squad is in a good enough place to be getting over the line and any failure to do so would lie at the door of the head coach .

If wed have signed a midfielder first and this lad after im sure people would be fine with it .

Yeah, this.

He's not the best winger in the world but I think he's a really decent player. A number of friends who support other clubs, always comment on him when he plays.

I like him, hope he stays and plays an important part of our run in.

We sign players without fanfare or fuss, its been that way for a while, FL will if known about Markelo and knew he was a possibility after we dropped out of Abdoulie Manneh. Markelo would of been a target for a while and doesn't mean we are not trying to get a CM or a LB in,its just means this one got finalized.

As for the model or getting over the line with proven players. I think we can whistle and walk at the same time and that may be the decision Doug has gone with. Yesterday i thought FL was going to have to deal with what he has, today i still think that CM will be brought in and 2 will be moved on. But lets see and lets see what FL says about Noah...

Makes Bassette a strange one and TBH Yang Brau and Woolfenden. We’ve made a few signings the manager doesn’t seem to rate from day one.

Think bassette fell out with lampard in fairness .. i agree with brau and woolfenden , but again as with robins he signed them off

I agree with all of that. But I would still be a little confused at the signing, after we signed Esse.

Is this lad going to sit and wait until the summer. Or is Esse and Tats now going to have less minutes?

Get a grip man! It’s not even been a single transfer window! 😂
I’m not sure that stacks up? When we sold him I was concerned we were light in CM. A whole transfer window is about half the season in a crucial position where we are light (1st Sep to now), which costs us results etc. Just saying it’s one transfer window doesn’t really justify it. The mistake is selling in a crucial position without having a replacement.
