He's a completely different player to Hamer plus he plays in midfield which is something Wilder hasn't really done with Hamer.

I think that's the point. They want someone different, which is why Hamer may be allowed to leave.

I get it and probably feel the same. I remember my Man City supporting mate saying this. Needless to say he's still a STH and enjoying every minute. I often remind him of his previous comment but he doesn't seem to give a fuck
End of the day it's just football and I support the club because it represents where I grew up. If it moves too far away from that I'll stop and focus on other things. In this hypothetical Reynolds scenario where you're cheating your way up the pyramid and using the infinite money hack to win games, it'd feel pretty hollow.

What we're doing right now without a tycoon and off the back of Robins dragging the club back up the pyramid is a refutation of all the people who shrug and go 'well you can't succeed without a tycoon I guess'.

Any update regarding the midfielder?

Nope other than we have approached Sheffield United and Hamer a week or so back. Fuck knows where were at with it but id imagine if it was a goer there would have been a lot more noise

And we are still working on getting a CM in few irons in the fire but we cant offer the wages of others

Doesn’t feel like a Doug / Frank signing but let’s see.

Wilder persisting with him on the bench tells us they want him gone ….

Sounds like we're scrabbling around a bit.

Seems to me we rarely get our man as it's often the case he goes somewhere else for more money.

Now I totally get that but FFS it pisses me off when we lose out to some doughbag club when it's maybe just a question of easing our purse strings a little. 🤷

Might be that a club have decided to keep the player.

Patronising, and failing to get it

What a winning combination.
I am deeply fed up with the sheer hypocricy of people complaining about the money flowing into Birmingham (who bailed us out) or Wrexham (delete where applicable) when we all know we would love either of their owners to take us over. Both those owners have considerably deeper pockets than DK and it is patently obvious that shit loads of money is far more important to success than even the best manager.* DK has enabled us to get forward, but if you want regular Prem football you need a moneybags. Please see Ipswich, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland passim

* There has also been some recent search that indicates that the quality of the manager is not a key variable to success - See Liam Manning and Thomas Frank for recent examples

Who are the tycoons bankrolling Ipswich and Sunderland?

Prem football is for the rich but only certain teams. Next season the PSR rules change so wages can only be a certain percentage of revenue. So low ground capacity teams with minimal extra revenue streams will be hugely disadvantaged.

Birmingham did not bail us out. They were skint so couldn't turn down the extra revenue and they charged us the going market rate for playing there.

They did not bail us out, they had to due to their own state take on extra revenue streams.
