Firstly, yes you probably should have had a penalty. It was at the other end of the pitch and I’ve not seen a replay yet but the consensus among the town fans was that it looked like a penalty. Goals change games so if you’d been given it and scored the outcome may have been different but tonight I felt we were better all over the pitch and could have stepped it up a gear or two if needed. Overall we were very good value for the win and deserved the 3 points. Blaming the ref, tactics, Lampard, singling out players etc is your prerogative but it doesn’t alter the fact that tonight the best team won. Having a large squad comes into its own when injuries, illness and a run of games in quick succession come around like they do at this time of the year. We’ve been under-whelming all season, poor at times and seen very little return on the £200m or so spent over the last 3 transfer windows. Tonight we at last saw some signs of it giving us an edge.

It was the first time I’ve been to your “new” stadium. I really liked it. A good atmosphere before the game and for most of it. I still think you’re going up as champions. I hope you get promoted. Stick together, keep the faith, get behind your team and enjoy the next few months. Hopefully next season Ipswich v Coventry will be a premier league game.

Fair play, best away team up at the CBS this season by a mile. First half reminded me of when you beat us in the cup, strange as thought we outplayed/dominated you at your place first half. Having said that where have those performances been all season ? Do the players not fancy the rough/horrible stuff on a Tuesday night in the pissing rain ?

Fair assessment. Agree completely. We should have had 2 pens, Wright, at 0-0 and Sakamoto at 0-2 but tbf you deserved the win.

We heard the whistle, he must have done, albeit there wasn’t much of a gap between the whistle and shot.Ref made a rod for his own back when he booked one of your players and then as you say bottled it when it came to giving Hirst a second yellow for the same offence. We’ve had some diabolical decisions go against us this season but got lucky against you.

Wright looked the best call but was not in control of the ball. Think the ref read it as two players equally running into each other. Saka was pulling on Kipre to start with, not convinced. The other incident I didn't see and wasn't featured in the highlights which says a lot.

It’s a few weeks ago now, but my recollection is that he seemed to pause after the whistle, then kick the ball but not with the intensity of a shot. He was clearly a very lucky boy.

As for last night, you were clearly the better team. By far the best we’ve seen at the CBS this season. As we all know though, the better team doesn’t always win and some competent refereeing might have changed things.

After being completely outplayed in the first half we were in the game at the start of the second and if thé penalty had been given for the foul on Haji, who knows. As the saying goes,, goals change games.

Think this is the point, no one would/could moan if he hadn't booked Eccles just before. Common sense would say not to book either of them, not like they were genuinely looking to time waste at that stage of the game. Pisses me off when they book for meaningless actions like that and let some of the late challenges go with just a warning.

V fair analysis. Ipswich better team from the first whistle to the last. How it was all square at ht was a mystery. Apart from our keeper you were better in every position; quicker to the ball, better use of it, stronger in the tackle and worked as a unit.
I’m not convinced the wright penalty shout should have been given as he appeared to block your player before he was then brought down (could have gone either way). The sakamoto shout equally was six of one etc…at the time I thought your player might have handled. Again seen them given but not clear cut. Don’t remember the other one.
As for Furlong he certainly got away with the kicking ball away. As for the ‘battle’ with EMC he won it by getting in his head and creating a physical battle which Mason Clarke responded to. Instead he should have concentrated on beating furlong on the ground…drawing fouls, yellow card and creating chances through crosses

Also noticed O'Shea being a dick about an extra ball on the field and farting about with it as we waited to KO after your first goal. Small things maybe but felt like a deliberate attempt to assert dominance in an important match.

VAR gives that and the haji one. I don’t think it overturns the sakamoto one but would also not overturn if ref gave it

I've said before, the standard of officiating in this division is basically VAR propaganda. I was always a VAR hater but I dunno, I'm starting to get slightly VAR-pilled. These officials simply aren't capable of making big decisions by themselves.

Thanks, I agree with you. There have been glimpses here and there of us being a good side and we are definitely improving as the season has progressed but we’re inconsistent and not clinical enough. We don’t have a decent striker and are wasteful. The first half last night showed that and although our second goal when you were chasing the game was excellent, there was a big slice of luck with the first. If we sign a striker in January and he hits the ground running we could go on a run of 8 or 9 wins but without that, no chance.

Don’t be fooled by the £20m price tags of some. We’ve wasted a fortune on some very average players. I won’t name him but we spent 8 figures on one player who looks so far out of his depth it’s staggering.

I’d dispute that we’re a team full of cheats. Usually we’re more sinned against than sinned. There was some shithousery going on last night, take it as a compliment. We don’t usually bother with that.

I would have done. I have never posted on any other fans sites, rarely post on our own one (TWTD). I signed up a couple of years ago to commiserate with you on the cup semi final defeat because you were brilliant that day. I came back on after the play off semi defeat last season to tell you that you really weren’t missing out as much as you might think, how the premier league isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, isn’t for the likes of us etc and then again after the game at PR to say it wasn’t a 3-0 and we got lucky. I like this site, lots of decent fans and for some unknown reason have a bit of a soft spot for Coventry. I didn’t come on here to gloat. Why would I? You’re 10 points clear, going up and will then find out that what I said at the end of last season is 100% true! You really can’t beat the championship, it’s a great league.

What they’ve done is incredible. Of course if you can do what they’re doing it’s incredible but I didn’t enjoy last season at all. The team that had got us there was pulled apart, those that came in were either using us a stepping stone or weren’t good enough and it dawns on you very quickly that there’s a far bigger gap between the leagues than there was a few years ago. If you can go up and make a go of it then great but Sunderland are the exception. I hated league one, didn’t enjoy the premier league but love the championship. As you say, each to their own.
