He did well today but let’s not kid ourselves that he’d be starting for us in a Premier League season

He’s not good enough or consistent enough for that level
Absolute pony , he's created more goal scoring chances than anyone else in the division .
He's a late developer and at certain points last season he looked like he wasn't capable of making the step up to this level , who's to say he can't step up again given time

Brilliant header today and against derby aswell that was a cracking header if he can get in the box more when saka is whipping in the crosses he could easily hit double figures

Yeah of course but if we do get to the PL I think some will be in for a shock after 25 years away.
When we’ve been doing well I’ve been watching and what Sunderland have done is mighty impressive
They and Leeds could easily stay up this year

West Ham and Wolves going down would be fun

Exactly if we go up we would hopefully finish ahead of the two that come up with us then we would be looking at Leeds Brentford and Sunderland and if we could catch one of them we would be safe. Tough but not impossible if we recruit well

He’s progressing such a lot though isn’t he?
Hes a frustrating player to watch, even in this division. He has improved, but only into a championship player from a L1 player.
Every time he has a good game his fan boys come on here and make out hes the next Bukaya Saka, he's not!
I firmly believe he would be be little more than an impact sub if we were to go up.

The difference between the Championship and the Premier League is massive.
How many of our former players have made an impact in the PL? Callum Wilson,? James Madison? Would anyone seriously put EMC in that category?

Very true

I think probably only Bobby will be a regular if we went up
I think more will as my opinion is we'll spend the funds on quality rather than quantity so a judgement will be made on which existing players can hack it. It's not something I'm going to concern myself with though, I love our existing squad for the most part, if they get us up they are heroes.

He's clearly been a very good Championship player from the moment he arrived IMO, it's just that some people are only just finally waking up to it.

Nobody's comparing him with Saka FFS.

To be fair mate, I don't think many will be shocked - my only concern is that the fans don't turn on the players/management etc when probable reality bites. The bigger picture is strengthening the club over the next few years (and hopefully beyond) with the revenue generated.

You wouldn't believe that reading some of the comments.
If we do go up this season I think a lot of people are going to be very suprised by the quality and speed of the PL
Oh yeah the Prem that has Yasin Ayari earning a living at Brighton. Couldn't lace Ephron's boots.

Honestly the disrespect on here for what EMC is doing here & now.

It’s basically a whole new team if we do make it bar Rushworth if we can get him, Milan, Thomas and maybe Wright.
From the playoff team I think Sunderland only have Ballard, Isidoor, Le Fee and a few sparse cameo sub appearances from ONien et al.

That's a big statement to make.

EMC, like the rest of our players, has continued to improve. He is a key part in the way we play. He has set up the most amount of chances in the Championship so far this season. He has now started to add goals to his game and now looks like hitting double figures in goals this season from the wing. To replace him we would have to look higher up than the Championship.

Do you think we will do a Sunderland and spend an absolute fortune? You can look at every position and say we need better but the reality is our best players now will be the backbone of our squad next season.

What our squad has is togetherness and would run through brick walls for us. You can't buy this. Look at the relegated clubs especially Leicester. Spending money guarantees nothing. Most of our players will deserve their chance with some astute signings to give us an extra edge. And we would have to change our mindset from winning most games to wondering where we will get our next win.

The reality is that we’d be spending over £100m and the starting line would look very different to what it is now.

Lets see then , in my opinion the club will probably see ephron as a player capable of making the step up with his attributes , we will look to add another winger of the same kind of profile on the other side instead of saka

All the forwards probably will.

We will need to massively strengthen elsewhere
I agree to a certain extent but could see us looking to ship out Simms if he can have a decent season and we can recoup some cash.

I do agree with you I think a LB and signing up Rushworth is the biggest priority.

We do need a left back. Whatever people say Dasilva is totally ill equipped at the level above. I don’t see many of the midfield competing either.

You have to say that JDS has been very good this year though right?

I agree though, we need our most athletic players on the pitch at full backs, and they need to have technical ability.
