Looking back, one trend I’ve noticed is that if you get to 70 points by Game 35 (in our instance, the Stoke return fixture) you’re basically there. Only 1 team in the last 15 years has had 70+ points at that time and not gone up automatically: Sheff Utd last season where we had 2 100-point teams. 36 points across the next 20 games feels achievable.

Updated. Every team now needs a minimum of 2 ppg to reach 90 points other than us.

Every team below Middlesbrough need to perform at the equivalent rate of a 97 point season. Good luck everyone!

I'm not even convinced 90 will be the magic number with the league being so competitive.

53 from 30 to reach 90 - something like 16 wins, 5 draws, 9 defeats
48 from 30 to reach 85 - 14 wins, 6 draws, 10 defeats

I just don't see how this isn't happening.

Still think it’s far too early to be a believer. If certain positions got injured, I can see us coming off the rails.
Excuse the tangent, but anyone know what the deal is with Miguel Ángel Brau? Surprised he didn’t get minutes with Da Silva returning from International duty.

Feel like he might go in January..lampard said something about not having strong options in some positions and he then added something about no options at wing

I think he was refering to brau with the strong option comment

Shame it's not working out

If we have a shocker from here until the window opens, say 8 points from 8 games (relegation form) we'd have 45 points from 24 and quite possibly still be top 2!

I'm at the point now of being optimistic about being promoted now. The last gremlin in my thinking is will Doug fuck it up for a run in the FA cup. He's apparently put pressure on us before to generate much needed funds for the club insisting fielding our best side to progress in those games. Last week it's said he pulled out on Patrick Bamford because we're doing just fine without the extra cover he may have brought. Should we burn out or get injuries to key players in that competition(or league for that matter) is the only thing that can see stopping us now. Given his thoughts on 'top decks' etc is he going to spend in January?
I'm enjoying up to now though

We'll prioritise the league 100% and we probably didn't sign PB because we're planning on spending cash in January.

Agree with you about a cup run.
It's the last thing this squad needs.

I don’t we have to worry about King pushing for an FA Cup run this season. Everything will be geared towards securing promotion because that’s where the money is.

For once, this season I want us to draw a Prem Team who’s ground I’ve not been too with City, Liverpool, Man City, Villa, Chelsea, Spurs (new), Everton or West Ham.

Then again, won’t really matter if we go up…

Is that both Tottenham and spurs ??

Said in Pre Season Brau was a fucking weird signing

Hes clearly not good enough
The small amount of minutes I have seen him this year he doesn’t look good enough or fit into our system, he wanders way out of where he should be and is gassing in seconds. I joke with our group that he’s masquerading as a footballer from some highlights clips and not truly scouted.

I think he's just been taken as a punt Kastaneer/Hillsner style and its just worked out the same as it did with them

I think that is harsh. He has a better CV than either of them did.
I think he is one for the future, if we get promoted maybe not.

i think Bidwell not being sold in summer scuppered him a bit. Bidwell is a senior squad member and ahead of him in the pecking order. Simple as that
I think.
Has £4mill KKH done anything more than MAB?

Both of those two had great youth careers and were seen as good signings at the time.
Robins said Hillsner had brilliant skill and ability, but unfortunately, his undetected respiratory problems ruined his career. He played for Germany at U16 to U19 level.
Kastaneer had a good pedigree and our youth chap at the time said he couldn't believe we got him, as he was really better than our league at the time. Can't win them all.
Brau was a cheap free agent and perhaps we took a punt on him. That said, some players take time to get their groove on. Very few minutes mean things are not going to plan. If he is loaned out in January or next year, the writing will probably be on the wall for him.

I mean, if we completely ignore the fact that KKH has an assistant and a goal, then no, he's done absolutely fuck all!!!

I have thought for a few weeks now I wonder whether we'll actually go in for a LB in January. Initially I've thought, no, and I still don't think we probably will.

But Brau clearly isn't favoured nor trusted to even make brief cameo appearances, I'm never a big fan of pushing a RB (in this case KKH) over to LB and vice versa it rarely works, and Bidwell is past his sell by date.

If JDS gets injured we're a bit scuppered in that department. So it definitely is a problem area that might need looking at.

I think he's happy with jds and bidwell personally.

Yet has only started 1 game and has been restricted to cameo appearances, signed for £4mil btw

I think it’s clear what happened with KKH and MvE wasn’t what was planned. It’s a long season, he’ll get minutes but probably never be a starter ahead of a left footer at LB or a fit MvE. Of course is MvE does his ACL next game he’ll look very useful.

I’m not quite a believer but it feels like if we don’t do it it’ll take a pretty big fuck up.

I don’t feel like we have that many fuck ups in us at the moment.

Yeah, but tomorrow can be one of those defining moments can't it.

Win and we will be TEN points clear of second place, which would be absolutely huge. Lose and the gap is down to four points.

It's a crucial match. This is why I would be happy to come away with a point. Maintain the gap against your main rival at the moment.

Ten points clear and obviously we would be in wonderland.

I am a little nervous for the game.
