There’s levels to this. Look at who Ipswich, Sheff U, Southampton and Leicester were able to bring on yesterday. Compare that to us.

BTA is certainly surpassing expectations this season and carving out a niche tactical role. Nonetheless, it’s still a square peg in a round hole.

I

There’s still 38 games to go and in the long run, the quality will show for Ipswich imo. There are reasons to be sceptical of Leicester, Southampton and Sheff U (unproven/vulnerable managers).

There are plenty of examples where all it takes is one ‘crazy’ run and teams previously thought dead and buried are back in the playoff mix. Including ourselves last seasons.
One thing will be interesting is we’ve not waited 15 games to get going. The real test will be as to whether we can follow up the past 5 seasons and have an on fire middle of the season - if we can get to January around the top 2/3 - I reckon Doug will have the funds to get 2/3 key players.

Lampard is always moaning about the squad size, for him to be that catty about it after a 4-0 win suggests he is really quite pissed off with it. Either that, or managing expectations I guess.

Lampard is right that the squad size is the only thing that can scupper us.
But it can also help us. Nobody can now deny that our players waiting to play are good enough. We have a really tight bunch of lads. Look at how everyone ran to KKH after his goal. We don't have players sulking because of not getting game time.

Yes it would be great to have an extra wide player or two. But 7 goals in 2 games with one of our wingers out actually shows we have strength in depth.

That’s my thinking too. I’m not sure we still sign Matty Grimes in Jan last season had we not worked our way into the playoff picture.

21/22 we got to a storming start and slowed down massively. The team was a lot weaker back then and our form under Lampard has been top 4 since he’s joined. This season we look better and have Haji fully fit so it’s just about keeping this up to Jan and being aggressive in the transfer market to get us over the line.

Hmm, interesting comments after such a convincing win, I agree. Clearly not happy but nothing we can do about it now until
January so we’ll have to make do.

Fair play for admitting you were wrong about the transfer window!
Sigh. You really are a deliberate bag of mostly water aren't you. Tbf though, you don't half keep the forum alive with your ramblings. We love to hate you

Well we are all mostly water, about 60% of us is. That said, that isn't as much as a jellyfish

To illustrate what a tight league this is, we are the only team to have won their last 2 games! Just looked on other forums, Boro, Leicester and Stoke, and they are all saying ' Cov are better than us'. Prefer it when we haven't got a target on our backs!
Make that target bigger. We're not going unnoticed any more. Make our opponents fear us. We're becoming last seasons Leeds. Scoring lots of goals and now only conceded 1 goal in our last 4 games including one of our hardest games of the season away to Leicester.

It doesn't sound right talking about Coventry City like this. But it's how everyone else sees us now. 2 points and a GD of +10 above 3rd place. More than double the GD of the only other undefeated side. Undefeated into October.

What a time to be a Sky Blues supporter
