I was on a podcast earlier this year, with a mainly northern audience (and presenters).

The following episode my accent was heavily mocked, and they seemed to be mimicking a black-country accent.

I've always thought when hearing my own voice back, that it is a distinct accent, but there's definitely a hint of Birmingham in there.

Brother in law is from Surrey and when imitating me will make me sound Brummy while pronouncing particular words.

Someone once asked if I was from Shrewsbury because of my accent - proving that some people that are horrendously wide of the mark when guessing.

😲 One is East Midland, the other West Midland. Nuneaton (Warwickshire) is bordering (quite literally) on a South Leicestershire accent.
This is probably accurate tbf as we have fans in a radius of the City, some nearer to Brum, some nearer to that lot, so can be effectively Cov and 20 miles apart.

We’ve always been asked if we’re Australian when we’re over in USA.

It’s got mixes of Birmingham and Lesta, depends on the words. Generally I think it sounds more like they do in Lesta
It depends on two things, your location and your upbringing.

If you live East of Coventry, or North-East, so Rugby, Nuneaton, Beduth, Lutterworth your accent will be east midland in sound. If you are from Tamworth, Solihull you sound like a Brummie, one because there is a large overflow of Brummies there so you would easily pick up the accent. When we had a car industry many coventry based workers spoke with broad Brummie accents because of working with Brummies.
However, if you received RP at school you would barely have an accent. I had RP and few people know where I am from. Likewise, more and more primary schools focus on RP so accents are less noticeable in children, this maybe sad but even if I met the most beautiful girl in the world with a black country accent I would bypass her, as I would with scousers.

I may be thick, what’s RP?

I havent seen it stated anywhere that they're continuing the cheap beer. You'd have thought they'd be advertising this heavily if it was happening.

I'd be expecting full price drinks again

The East Stand fan village is open from 10:30am! Food and drinks are available, and we will also be joined by our DJ. It will also be open for one hour post-match too!

There is a special ‘warm-up’ drinks offer in the Village from 10:30am to 11:45am.

Remember, all of the money you spend on food and drink at the Arena now helps to support your Club!

Yes that's a fair shout. As a Southerner I can clearly tell the difference between Cov and Birmingham really but the Leicester and Cov ones are identical to my ears.

All right meduck, you won't hear that in Cov. 😂

That doesn’t answer if DK is doing the £3.60 offer 🤔

If it doesn’t sell out, it’s hopefully a message to Doug King that £45 for a second division game is too much ( plus the exorbitant children’s prices)

You're assuming the aim is to sell out. This is the old 'all the tickets should be £10' argument. When ticket prices were dropped not enough extra tickets got sold to offset it.

I would imagine Doug prefers more cash in the bank and a few hundred empty seats dotted around the ground over a sell out but less money being generated.

It's common place now to hear that companies brag about record gate receipts over record crowds.

It will become a lot worse if dynamic pricing becomes the norm.

How full the corporate areas will be interesting tomorrow.

When its £45 for a standard ticket, the £80 price tag for the Balcony Bar suddenly looks a lot more reasonable
