No, you have an opinion on what a normal reaction is. I'm sad about it for lots of reasons, but you're telling me I have to be sad in a particular way or about particular parts of it, which is a bit mad to me.
No I'm not, I'm saying wait until the corpse is fucking cold before dissecting the poor blokes tweets and character

This has rocked me. I'm going to be honest.

When it happens to a president or someone of high importance it is still shocking, but never feels that impossible because across the world it does happen from time to time.

This just feels like a new low has been reached, and I think it might be a catalyst for something very dark. Some of the screenshots I have seen with reactions on social media celebrating it are also extremely sickening. I've had to turn it all off.

I don't understand how someone could take a father away from their young children for simply having a different opinion. It's an absolutely devastating state of affairs.

Has the social media reaction to folk celebrating migrants drowning in the channel had the same effect?

Trump vows crackdown on 'political violence'published at 02:28
02:28BREAKING

Here's more from Trump's video statement. He said his administration would "find each and every one of those who contributed to this atrocity and to other political violence".

Trump said "radical left political violence has hurt too many innocent people". He cited the assassination attempt against him and the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last year.

Trump has stirred controversy for regularly blaming the "radical left" for the country's deepening political divisions - with critics arguing that his rhetoric has incited violence against his political opponents.

No, its advice.

We all have a duty to not inflame situations.

Don't start trying to look for justifications as to why an innocent young Dad was murdered
People are surely just looking at the possible reasons as to why he has been murdered and why he was targeted. No-one is trying to justify it.

It was the same for me after the Jo Cox murder. I thought it would make people realise it’d gone too far but if anything it’s got a loss worse over the last decade.

That's pretty outrageous from Trump, that.

Weren't 4 Democrats shot in Minnesota and one murdered recently?

He should just be saying "political violence"

It happens on both sides of the spectrum.

That one really shook me, the Jo Cox murder.

RIP to Charlie Kirk, but I honestly didn't really know who he even was.

Heard the name, but had to look him up on Google last night.

I get what your saying but I just don't think you would be here posting so emotionally had it been a left winger who was shot.

If I’d seen that video of the actual shooting, and the video of him just a few minutes before going onstage with his daughter, I think I would.

but that's not what you said at first. I agree with what you're saying right here FWIW, but that's just me.

I think that is what I said at first.
I made reference to initial reaction

Yet he had no issues releasing those involved in the attack on the Capitol...

When Jo Cox was murdered I don’t recall anyone immediately finding screenshots of her tweeting her strong remainer beliefs, and using that to call her a polarising figure.

People were just angry and sad that someone had been murdered for their beliefs

Strong remainer beliefs? I don't know much at all about Charlie Kirk, but he said gun deaths were worth it.

He was a very outspoken person apparently.

I think people were just looking for the reasoning behind it, which is quite natural, when it's a very polarising figure

Yes, strong remainer beliefs

Some people found her very polarising. She was very outspoken

Anyway, this could run and run, but the bottom line is that no-one has been disrespectful on this thread and no-one has said they are not sad at the death. I think it has been a very calm.and reasoned reaction .

We should move on. But pretty certain we won't, unfortunately. 😥

Until they actually pass gun laws, rather than going on about it being a God-given right, the school shootings and assassinations will continue there.

Yeah, it's just shitposting at this stage.

But there is nothing more to say at this stage other than both sides in the US need to tone things down.

Not really the same is it.

Is exactly the same.

The only difference is Jo Cox had opinions you personally agree with, and Charlie Kirk didn’t

I dread to think what Trump/MAGA are going to do after this, going to be all sorts of wild shit going down.

The best thing to come from this would be his wife coming out against gun laws, but that's not going to happen is it.
