1. We would have ample time to strengthen this season, just as we did last year with Grimes in January etc. And the value of the fee isn’t limited to this season of course.1. The season is ongoing, we would not have the time to upgrade the squad realistically
2. The fee will still be there next summer
3. It will have a material affect on our ability to compete for promotion this season - the value of promotion makes this fee pale into utter insignificance
2. That’s the risk you take - the value of your asset can go up and down etc
3. While there is obviously risk involved here too, this is the argument I have the most time for. But when the same people making it are also whining how ‘the squad doesn’t stand a chance unless we sign four more players’ etc then can you really factor in the opportunity cost of promotion?
