The 'English tax' isn't on English players, it's the cost of dealing with English clubs.
We all bemoan Sky at times, but their money has supercharged the Premiership clubs financials as the TV money is distributed equally, which isn't the norm in the other elite leagues globally. In countries like France and Italy, Prem clubs need to sell players as part of their 'business plan' in the absence of less lucrative broadcasting rights.
In relation to Jobe Bellingham, his value probably doubled as soon as the final whistle blew on the playoff final.
Just bookmark it and argue with me later. If Southampton sell Dibling and then offer £25m he’s gone

Probably wouldn't have got that if they were in the Championship still. My bad, I thought he went for 32 million pounds rather than Euros.I'm not sure on that last statement. He was already being touted around at £25m before that.

I don't like arguing really, i do back my opinions until proven wrong though (rare.)I don’t really ever wanna argue with anyone if I’m honest. It’s just a game of opinions at the end of the day…. ‘Innit’

Depends if there's any 'ready made' replacements in the pipeline. Rudoni was involved in 33% of our goals last season so selling him for £20m (for arguments sake) at this moment probably derails the start of our season. To a similar extent to which Hamer leaving post-Wimbledon in 23/24.We can hold off against Southampton but holding off Newcastle is a different kettle of fish.
Also if we get an offer of £20/25m for a player we paid £4m for 12 months ago he goes. And similar to Gus and Vik we don't replace directly but with 2 CAMs, 1 LW and some change. All together we may be a poorer side up to Christmas but come the end of the season we'll be stronger.
Look at what they're still (even yesterday) saying about Gyokeres, played for Coventry in the Championship etc etc. The snobbery of the PL plays big and Rudi's not even been through the England youth setup. I'll stick my neck out and say nobody will come in for him with a serious offer.
This site is going downhill fast…..I don’t really ever wanna argue with anyone if I’m honest. It’s just a game of opinions at the end of the day…. ‘Innit’

I might do but I'd want to see more than "Sky News have been told that..." They wouldn't even quote their source this week. Very poor journalism! You wouldnt beleive it even they did
Similar to the French rugby then by the sound of things, obviously not to the same rewards but the level of distortion?Just about every Prem-Prem transfer has inflated fees. What other league in the world means clubs do not "need" to sell matchday tickets to be viable?
For context, the 'average' Prem team gets more than double in TV money compared to their counterparts in Spain and Italy. That figure is over 3 times than its German and France counterparts. That's without factoring the 'prize money' for the Premiership which again, is the only league more lucrative than the UCL and by a significant margin.
It's all about the money and aside from a handful of Europe's elite clubs, they cannot compete against Prem teams financially.
Where transfer fees are inflated somewhat is for 'home grown' players which are increasingly foreign born (e.g. Cesc Fabregas was "home grown) who meet the criteria to be home grown, hence teams like Chelsea stockpile on youngsters to qualify for this by 21.
We wouldn’t have that much leverage. And Rudoni would be desperate to join them I’m sure. If we denied him the chance to play in the champions league I’m not sure he’d be too happy.I honestly believe we would hold out for more than 20m and with loads of add ons
yes, yes we wouldWe wouldn’t have that much leverage. And Rudoni would be desperate to join them I’m sure. If we denied him the chance to play in the champions league I’m not sure he’d be too happy.
The stadium wide meltdown is gonna be epic whe. Hughes and Rudoni aren’t in the squadsWe'll see tomorrow if he's "rested" whether anything serious is going on at the moment.
You wait until Lampard announces Rushworth has a knock and Collin startsThe stadium wide meltdown is gonna be epic whe. Hughes and Rudoni aren’t in the squads
People are getting ahead of themselves. We're never getting 30m for him. 25 is probably the absolute max, but I doubt we would get that.yes, yes we would
we are not going to sell our best player for less than we want when we won't accept less than our value for the right back we have already brought a replacement for
Don’t threaten me with a good time! You wait until Lampard announces Rushworth has a knock and Collin starts
How do you cope in everyday life? If you order online and see theres a tracking number do you only beleive they shipped it when it arrives at your door?I might do but I'd want to see more than "Sky News have been told that..." They wouldn't even quote their source this week. Very poor journalism!
I think £25m with a sell on clause is a good deal. This place loves doing down our good players, as well as hamming up our absolute shite players. Weird place at times.
If Newcastle decide to bid then they've decided he's 'Newcastle standard'. We should not undersell to these clubs, the money they bring in is obscene, we should always try and get our slice of the pie when selling to them. Same as people on here complaining about prices of League One players, these clubs are in the pyramid, the top of which is controlled by the wealthiest, greediest clubs and owners in football, they should absolutely try and get decent transfer fees in such a pyramid.
I agree.I think £25m with a sell on clause is a good deal.
good for us and you cant stand in his way. £25 million less say the £7-£8 million losses covered still give us £17 million, that is at least 3 maybe 4 top draw championship players we can bring in.I think £25m with a sell on clause is a good deal.
Agreed. Rudoni would be keen, and if we were rejecting £25m he would get disgruntled. £25m and a sell on clause is best for all parties.good for us and you cant stand in his way. £25 million less say the £7-£8 million losses covered still give us £17 million, that is at least 3 maybe 4 top draw championship players we can bring in.
Adam Webster went to Brighton for £20 mil at 24 is as close as I can thinkPeople are getting ahead of themselves. We're never getting 30m for him. 25 is probably the absolute max, but I doubt we would get that.
You have to remember he is already 24 and hasn't played in the prem yet. I don't think any Championship player at that age has gone for over 25m.
The meltdown would be even bigger still if the teams were announced and Hughes was in the line up for us and Rudoni was in the starting 11 for them. The stadium wide meltdown is gonna be epic whe. Hughes and Rudoni aren’t in the squads
Not a teenager no. Quite far from it. But a club could sign him knowing there's plenty of years left to get their money back/make a profit and there's plenty of time for him to continue to improve. Once a player reaches about 27/28 they should be at about their peak but sign a player at this age is with the knowledge of you most probably won't get your money back.Rudi wouldn't be considered that young anymore though at 24. Bellendingham is 19 in comparison and playing at a "similar" level.
Would he? Of course from a financial side, and perhaps like most players that is the only motivation, but we've seen the bond between him and Frank, and Jack comes across as a bright lad.Agreed. Rudoni would be keen, and if we were rejecting £25m he would get disgruntled. £25m and a sell on clause is best for all parties.
