New stadium (8 Viewers)

Not really
It’s not sensitive

Of course it is. It’s negotiating on a major decision which if revealed would make a huge impact on the clubs ability to continue to fund players contracts and impact future signings

And me cause I ask difficult questions that the club don’t necessarily want to answer

Yet when it was Sisu you just accepted the answer and bought into the lies

Sorry not having it. King is the one joke the club has and we need to back him

Seriously
Show me
I’m pretty consistent
Solely attempting to represent opinions of supporters
Sorry for doing nothing that suits you grumpy

Let’s be honest here, the last time we heard this from the club we got exiled.

Im all for giving king the benefit of the doubt but he’s said it himself the club have been burnt before. It’s not a shock people are upset and concerned.

The difference is the previous owners had no investment in the club and hadn’t for a decade. Kings fund management is covering around £7 million a year. Sisu closed investments in 2012 and just then lied

I like King as an owner and do think it’s not a cynical lie like Sisu but an attempt to have a back up plan

But of course this is going to reopen old wounds and with the council still as shit as ever, do we even think the club would ever get backed by them

We should back King end of really as he’s exceeded expectations regarding commitment and ownership

Why didn’t you quote my edited post? I’ve no idea if he’d borrow cash - he’d have had to borrow far more to fund the Arena cash flow.

He would have had to surely have security of £100m plus.

I mean if it’s a matter of public record then it’s surely public record William Storey was trying to buy the club as revealed by your journalist colleague Mr Gilbert

I mean it’s here in black and white and on Google!

I hate to break it you and shit stirring Simon but he hasn’t a pot to piss in has he? He wasn’t buying it despite it seems being on “public record”

King had the funds and was.

Im amazed as an award winning journalist of international recognition your sources didn’t differentiate

Guess that’s why it’s still the Basildon hey?
I’m honestly not sure what you’re ranting about here - I’m just saying that it was common knowledge that Doug King tried to buy the Arena, not an “ITK” thing as you initially said.

I don’t believe King is financially better placed than SISU to build a new stadium (although I would bet he’s better placed than William Storey…) but it’s a moot point because neither of them are going to do it anyway.

The thing is I want this sorted one way or another.

I believe King will do his best to solve it whether that’s building a stadium or buying the CBS.

But do think King needs to tread carefully around the fans on this as it’s a difficult subject which means fans will get concerned like Pete and to an extent me.

More so my concern is that King can do everything in his power to get this stadium built but the council seem as antagonistic as ever and Fraser imo won’t sell while their building their new campus. It’s a difficult process as we know or we would have built three stadiums by now

I’m hardly ranting - you do resort to childlike hyperbole when challenged - if he had the funding to own the whole Arena it’s pretty obvious that would also be able to fund a new stadium. It would have been an enormous initial commitment,

There is zero evidence he was trying to buy the stadium on your link at all?

As a journalist would you have written the article Gilbert did regarding William Storey?

Didn’t Doug go to court to try and gazump Frasers to the arena by offering more?

This link you mean? King’s bid to buy the stadium is in the fourth paragraph! Maybe lower your font size or something?

Coventry City agreed a deal on Wednesday to sell an 85% stake in the club to businessman Doug King.

A court ruled his £25m offer to own the stadium had come too late.

The judge ruled there was "not enough substance" in King's bid to delay making the administration orders and had been told the Frasers Group would pull out if there was further delay.

He expressed an interest subject to conditions. Which included a review of the whole of the stadium creditors. He never committed an offer at the hearing.

It was not a bid

It’s interesting SBT finds this amusing - I mean he’s already said Mr King would have had to borrow the money to fund a stadium which is no better than Sisu - yet it seems he had £25 million stuffed down his mattress and no doubt another £50 million to fund the cash flow

It is never going to happen and it is genuinely laughable reading some of you on here and on Twitter coming up with potential locations for a 40,000 seater stadium. Some are just finding a random plot of grassland and plonking us there like it’s city tycoon 😂

He was trying to buy the stadium, in other words.

It’s ok, you got it wrong, it happens.

Then by your own admission he has far more reserves than Sisu - so why say he hasn’t?

He would easily be able to fund a new stadium so I find your comments confusing? I really find those statements contradictory

Im talking about Doug Kings thinkin...
... he ended up with the club and not the actual real estate he was after
If so, has he arrived at the same place as SISU by a different route? And is he now using the same futile tactics to try and get what he wants from an obdurate landlord?

I really hope we're not heading down the same rabbit hole again.

I'm not sure anybody is seriously plotting anything. I joked about putting it by his other business and merging it with heat.

Here we go again. Anyone who follows football or business knows Fraser is all about how much he can get for his assets.
Newcastle fans hated him for a reason and I feel he will seriously effect our ability to perform on the pitch if his rent demands are not reasonable.
Pretty sure this is a play by King, as a stadium without a club is a money pit.
Butts does not have the space or the infrastructure, although I would expect the Council to be more accommodating than there were for SISU.
Warwick Uni a much better option that I know SISU were actually thinking about after discussions. I must emphasise thinking but never acting. Think Kenilworth is the council with the land and I am sure they would be amenable.
Stadiums cost way more than we can afford. Add in the fact that it takes so long to build anything in the UK from the start to the end of the project and costs often spiral out of control.
Also consider that teams who build new stadiums often show a decline on the pitch.
If we don't get a new rent deal before the start of the season we will be fined.
As much as I would like to give the finger to Fraser, I hope a deal can be done.

We really dont need all this shite again do we

It’s the council and Gilbert stirring shite

I asked the journalist on here if he’d act like Gilbert has over the years with click bait shite and what a surprise - he refuses to answer

why should he, it is as Gilbert later said a sensible precaution
