We can improve by moving on 1 from the current group of GK, CB, LB, CM and FW. This will not be easy but if we are to improve it has to be done. Its a lot of movement and to be honest I just can't see it happening before this window shuts. The longer it's goes and the closer it gets the quieter we seem to be. We look like we may see 1 or 2 but not the movement we need to take the next step in my opinion.
There's every possibility that there's plenty of transfer negotiation going on which thankfully is being kept under wraps.

The GK part is easy. Possibly the CM part too. Problem is, some players cover two positions such as Lati

It just feels like we are at least trying to get some sort of fee for the likes of Collins / Bidwell / Maybe Allen or Eccles.

Then likely loans for Bassette, Andrews.

We hold on long as we can, but then at some point going to have to cut our losses and let them go but least it saves some wages and creates the squad registration room.

Think Lasse Berg Johnson would be a good signing, a box to box midfielder at Malmo. 4.50 accurate long balls per 90 with a 67% long ball success rate 1.48 chances created per 90.
Good in duels with 60% win rate on the ground and in the air.
Would attach a video but the only one there is has been privated! The other is from the 22/23 season so a bit outdated
Don’t know if anyone remembers but I brought him up last summer and the January before as well. Such a good player.

Oh come on, when those 2 players left we were left with absolutely fuck all. If 2 players left now we'd still be fine. The value of our squad and the overall quality of it is night and day. The club has its best assets secured to good contracts and is generally now talked about as a top end Championship club.
Maybe a certain Venezuelan will end up being the answer to your dreams anyway. Happy days if so.

Yeah but we don’t have two players like them so it’s apples and oranges. Were a more balanced squad now, I think it’s arguable whether we’re a better team overall just yet.

It's more secure and more sustainable though isn't it.

Oh yeah 200%. I’m not whining about the current squad, I just think there’s a big jump from fifth to promotion and we aren’t there yet (still a month of the window left tho)
Agree. I think there's a big jump from 5th to 4th looking at last season. We've not done enough to close that gap yet.

What doesn't help is him being used as model for new kit, in all the unseen training videos etc. Makes you wonder if he's this special talent we are waiting to unleash... or the media team have made a big deal out of him last season
Yes exactly. The idea he was signed as some unknown signing to go and hide in the U21's isnt backed up by how much he features in the media.

It didn't cost you the playoffs which was what you claimed.

"MVE was distraught when his mistake cost us the playoffs."

The Ballard goal cost you the playoffs.
Why did the tie go to extra time in the first place? We gifted you a goal at our own place and you took the win to 2nd leg.

I mean we’ve taken two seasons to go from finishing fifth then PO final to finishing fifth then PO semi. I think the jury is still out on if this particular set of parts can achieve more than Vik and Gus and the backup dancers.

Whatever though we’re still missing passing range, speed of thought and creativity in the middle of the pitch.

It’s the defence that is in need of improving and whether or not that’s tactical, personnel or a bit of both… it’s something that’s holding us back. Having that solid defence meant that Vik and Gus could win us games.

We’ve just signed PNE’s POTS and bearing in mind they could’ve got relegated on the final day, they lost less games and conceded less goals than we did. We conceded the most goals in the top half barring Wednesday.

Exactly. Why would King sanction more cost when we’ve still got 3 left backs, 3 cf’s. At least 8 central midfielders and 4 keepers. We need to improve in certain areas but it’s a cash game now so it quite rightly should be one out one in from now on.

It’s not a case of being 1 in, 1 out just yet as a whole. According to @Jimmy87, there’s money in the pot and Lampard is being backed. Transfers take time, especially where players have options.

When Saddles reckoned Brau was being brought in as a backup, it didn’t seem plausible unless JDS and Bidwell are shifted on.

Right off the bat, we need 1-2 wingers and maybe a AM to fill squad needs where the headcount is low. Areas such as ST, CB, RB, LB and CM you’re looking at needing to have a plan to move on a player or 2 if we’re completing signings.

In practice, Lati has played almost exclusively as a CB last season. I don’t think he

It’s the same with Eccles, he’s filled in admirably a few times at RWB, AM and RM but is not a specialist in any of those positions.

I do think sometimes this gets downplayed because we forget how truly awful some players can be out of position. Being just OK can be a huge boon. I’ve said before I’d move Eccles on, but his versatility (and the fact he’s a Cov boy) have value, especially if we’re trying to make the wage budget go further. Him and Lats are model pros who give a minimum level in several positions.

Also when we are going for higher calibre of player, generally takes lot longer - agents, wages etc etc

Both Eccles and Lati have played outside their primary position a handful of times over the last 2 seasons.

Eccles is a solid player who’d start for every team outside the Top 8 comfortably. On Lati, it’s telling that he started off first choice for Robins and Lampard to end up losing that starting berth. As a CB (particularly in a 2), he’s just not that good imo. He was pretty unconvincing whenever he’s played CM and at RB he was limited, particularly going forward.

Rudoni and Haji are examples of a players who cover multiple positions and make an impact on the game. Heck, Rudoni has played RW, LW, CM and even LWB outside his primary position.

Then why have him plastered all over the media?

We didnt do that with Hillsner.
He's just available and probably up for the extra few quid media money.

I don't get the obsession people have about Rapha, we took a cheap punt on a 20 yr old, he had bad luck with injuries. He might not make it but no need to bang on about it, it happens loads at other clubs too.

Seems to me he would benefit from a loan but obviously we need cover for Tats so may have to wait. You never know he might find his feet just let him get on with it like we do with the other players in his age group. A loan seems sensible to me, from the little nuggets in the press it's more to do with his robustness and adapting to the pace of the game he needs to work on.

Id imagine most of the players were available.

The point im trying to make is, if we are unsure if he will make it, why are we making him the main media man. It is odd.
