Matchday Ticket Prices (52 Viewers)

did away fans get charged the top price last year, as in will they be charged the 'premium zone' price?

I have a suspicion the idea is to squeeze as much cash out of away supporters for the big couple of games and then set everything else at the lower categories.

That's always been the case.

However, it backfired a few times because the likes of West Brom and Stoke travelled poorly because of the high prices. Even Sunderland didn't sell out 2 years ago because of the prices.

I am a non season ticket holder and someone liable to have to pay these prices, but nevertheless I don't get the level of bleating about this. Entertainment prices have risen massively in the last few years. Going to a Test Match or a decent gig costs more than double the price from 10 years ago, and much higher than these prices.. Given football is the major spectator sport in the UK it shouldn't really be a surprise if it follows suit, particularly in our case where there are only limited seats available from match to match.

The only way these prices become an issue is if the team under perform, but if that were the case then the extra supporters would probably have stayed away anyway at last seasons prices.
I'm in the same boat. I'd certainly think long and hard about whether I take the kids to a Cat A+ match. Reducing JSBs down to U14s a couple of years back compounded matters regarding kids prices more generally.

£118 for me, my 16yo and 14yo for 2nd tier football live on TV, wow.

It's the cat a prices that are crazy. Under 12s at Leicester for their cat A games start at £7 and highest is £15. We have a blanket £35 price for young kids. Adult prices are eye watering as they are, but to charge that for young children if totally out of sync with the rest of the league.

I agree but unfortunately kids prices across all areas of hospitality and entertainment are being stretched, or even removed.

Only two games at £46 (potentially 3 with Wrexham if both are doing well and our last game of the season) So you therefore think £39 for the other 7-8 games that will be Cat A as opposed to A+is ok? I certainly don't.

£39 for a Cat A game is broadly inline with the rest of the Championship

It's almost like they're exploiting fan's behaviour when we rush to treat every concept with glee and awe, they're just ultimately responding to data.
Same with people moaning we've got pre-season only training kit for sale. There were queue's outside the shop last season to buy warm up shirts and walk out tops that nobody had even seen a photo of. When people are doing that you're just going to get more and more stuff put out.

Only stops when people stop handing over their money.

But the circumstances are slightly different.
No kids concessions for a major star who plays Wembley isn't going to affect sales for their next visit in 5 years time.
We need to keep developing our fan base.
It's been a major gripe of mine while also appreciatiing that from King's point of view, he's probably not interested in what's going yo happen here in 10 years time.

The same people wanting new signings and a bigger squad are same people who want somebody else to pay for it, it seems! Given the gulf with the PL it's inevitable that the club would seek to make money from walkup ticket sales. If the ground is full then there isn't a strong argument against it really.

This won't finance new signings. All it will do is piss people off. We averaged about 5800 paying customers per game last season (inc away fans). Every reason to suspect this might reduce a bit. The uplift will generate a few hundred grand tops. Who we buying? We could spunk that on a squad player that doesn't feature all season.

Test matches and gigs aren't weekly occurrences for most people.
And their are plenty of seats available, we rarely sell out despite what some on here would have you believe.
Was watching a thing about ticketing a few weeks back where the head of Live Nation spoke. This is literally the business model now for live events.

Selling out is not the aim. The model they have moved to is maximising revenue from those who will attend no matter what through insanely high prices. Then if there's a ton of unsold tickets they drop the price, run 2 for 1 offers, use seat filler sites etc. Nobody involved really gives a shit if there's a couple of thousand empty seats if they feel revenue has been maximised. What they don't want is regular sell outs, they take that as an indication prices are too low.

Woke up this morning and I hate the poor
I'm gonna charge the fans some more
Rinse all the goodwill built
Like you knew I would
I hate your fucking kids, cause they're not my blood

Awful when grown adults sing that cringy Doug King song. Heroes are on the pitch, not in the directors box wearing a suit.

Exactly. It's why all other clubs offer healthy concessions. We're the only one that doesn't. Apparently we know best though.

You could do with a few reactions of any kind to boost your ratio!
Good job I don't really care for them, bet I guess you'll be well happy with the 100 reactions you will get by the end of play today.

You can go and scream to your Mum and Dad about it being your most meaningful life accomplishment.

It doesn't really matter in terms of the response I don't think, there's a shortfall on the corporate side that's been evident for two seasons now,we as ST holder's are not being hit yet,so on the day attenders are going to be expected to cough up!

State of season ticket holders who've paid £18 per game telling exiled fans being asked to pay £46 (£164 for a family of 4) for certain games to pipe down 😆. People will swerve those games now, so a false economy. I might be wrong on that, but I think it has crossed a line that people won't be willing to step over. There are cheaper games of course, so we'll see what it does over the season.
