Also journalists say it is much harder to get interviews with players now. When they do they have to submit questions in advance and when they meet the player a club official is sat alongside them.

Some of the old journalists remember the days when you could phone a player at home and then pop round his house for a cup of tea and a chat.
I remember the character Dennis Pennis who would take the piss out of celebrities . He'd go up to people like Hugh Grant and say you must rehearse a lot in the forest because your acting is so wooden. No way could he do that now because the PR company would say submit your questions in advance .

Only looks good on paper so far. Lots of unknowns not played at this level before.
Does it even look that good? As you say they have signed outside of Kyogo who Rennes have ditched within 6 months a load of players who mostly are untested at this level. It's very scattergun

I do get a bit of a square pegs round hole vibe with Birmingham's business so far this window. I can see several of their signings not working out as they inevitably hope.

With a high volume of signings there is an inevitable number of failures as we've seen ourselves. The other factor is of course the time it takes the team to gel. Our stable squad should hopefully be advantageous.

I would not be shocked if Doug did have a go at the deal. 1 mill to Blackburn and reported he wants 16k a week could be doable being as his value is up around 7 to 8mill.

But if the ship has sailed im not sure Doug is one for looking back.

Isn’t he available on a free due to his contract expiring?

I think it will be next week now before we see movement and would not be shocked to see at least 1 of ours to leave. And hear a few words from FL on how he thinks its going with pre season and recruitment

Wouldn’t be breaking the bank for Dolan. He deepens our squad but isn’t a massive step up

I'm not sure we would be breaking the bank. If we have to pay Blackburn £1m in compensation, but his true value is in the region of £7m we would appear to be quids in, as long as he fits within our wage structure.

Having said that I don't think he would initially be a definite starter, so while he would undoubtedly improve our squad depth and options, that would probably put him off joining us.

Without getting into the weeds of the Vik sell on clause; after his move, Hamers likely sale & moving Milan on for a decent fee along with a few fringe players, are we confident that should fund the summers business without having to sell another big hitter ?
Vic looks increasingly like a done deal, but unfortunately, the fee is no longer as high as we hoped. Gus may still move but we cannot rely on it happening, as last season was the optimum time for him to go further up the football pyramid.
The fringe players are currently our squad, so to move someone on the offer has to be good and we have to have a better player lined up. There may be players fans want to see move but they have very little sell on value. Of the players who would attract a decent fee, Haji and Eccles are injured and MVE and Rudoni would be a big loss even with a new right back already signed.
A loan out is possible, but there must be takers. Loans are usually used to improve young players not always to offload unfancied players.
