I think it’s £10-12 million. Turned down £6.5 already
A deal to.be made?

He isn't going to be good enough for Manchester City in the next couple of years. 10m is promoted sides territory. But a lower bid with a higher sell on clause?

But buying him will give a profit. King could be looking at it from that angle. I just have a feeling this is the season where we go for it. When Lampard took over we were 3 points away from the bottom 3. We finished in 5th. Should give a bit of faith in Lampard. Since then we have spent about 8m when the Gyokeres and Hamer money was already gone. We don't have a clue about the present finances.

Any reliable link or source ?
I've seen nothing to suggest we are signing Doyle

As much as I would love for it to be true, do we really think that on the one hand, the club are trying to keep a tight lid on transfer business and on the other, sending one of the most recognisable figures in football from the last 25 years to meet with a potential signing in public?

Again, would love it to happen but I’ve got to think it’s a wind up.

Some of the absolute pony on here you have to wade through to get reliable info is so tedious at times

Apart from the rumours about Brau and Kessler-Hayden you mean ?
Just before the signings yes.

I'll say it again. Don't think he is coming to us. But Manchester City are reaching the stage of sell or renew contract. Best time to sell. Doyle will want to go where he gets game time. Best bet the Championship. The vast majority of clubs couldn't afford him.

Let’s not play silly buggers here. Doyle would be a quality signing
Based on his time here yes , I honestly thought he was sensational for us. Based on last season at Norwich , and I know it's the forum throwaway regarding attitude but , has he honestly progressed or improved to the level he looked like he should have been playing at ?
Personal view is he's viewed through sky blue tinted eyes on his form since he left us

And dark blue tinted glasses when he played for Leicester?

Norwich were not very good. It wasn't easy for him. We got Rudoni from a relegated side. It didn't make him a bad player.

To be fair that same individual was seen photographed walking around the Houses of Parliament carrying a Coventry shirt two weeks before he was confirmed as manager (curiously in exactly the same clothes that were used for his “welcome to Coventry” appointment photos where he was holding a shirt in front of a photoshopped CBS arena).

Doyle thing was always fantasy. As mentioned above we have far greater needs across squad, spending the kind of money required on him would be silly.
Very good player and needs to find a permanent home, but wont be with us.

@Saddlebrains whats your contact saying generally?

I don’t think we do personally, CB would be my priority target, but probably not Doyle. I like him but not sure he’s what our defence needs.

Agree on a centre half, but yes not for that money.

we still need a right back, right wing, left back? and a GK on loan at least.

Some of it depends on our current players also. I mean a strike force of Bassette Wright simms and BTA is as good as any in this league really. If simms and BTA can step up and keep fit. Do we even need another striker?
