Getting to her point I'd rather play with 10, he doesn't even get in the way.

No, Wright has to play on the left. That's where he's most effective (by far), and he's our biggest goal threat.

We need someone better than Simms.
OK, we can't dip into the transfer market now though funnily enough, so it's what I said. At least Wright scores goals as a CF.

Next season.

Wright is nullified up from, but a threat on the left. Playing him on the left gives a much better overall goal threat, even if it means persisting with Simms.

Lampard won't persist with Simms. He'll drop him as soon as EMC is 100% fit.

Not good enough, I’d rather Bundu, much more of a nuisance and far superior on the ball. Ellis won’t maintain a career at Championship level. L1 awaits.

All the attributes to be a good player but just no fight in him whatsoever.

Bundu stamps on Allen un-apologetically and got stuck in today.. simms has a air shot and accidentally kicks their player (play acted to win the foul) and looked like he was about to take the red card out of the refs pocket for himself

Technically the only thing I'm really concerned about is his controlling the ball - it's truly awful. They need to spend a huge amount of time with him in the off season just working on that. It's so bad it must be he's setting himself up wrong to receive the ball and they need to show him how to do it. I know that might sound incredible for a mid-20's professional who trains almost every day but that's what it is.

The other issue is mentality. He has all his other attributes like his height, build and even his speed to dominate defenders. he just seems far too apologetic to use them like he'd be accused of bullying. Plus his confidence is very fragile. He can play like a beast for a few games, then have one off game and totally lose his confidence and end up having half a dozen poor games. The type of player you occasionally drop into the reserves to fill their boots and get their confidence back.

I'd play BTA or Pato instead of Simms versus Luton. However, first and foremost drop Collins for Wilson. I think Da Silva has to start instead of Bidwell. Bring Thomas in place of Lati and Sheaf in place of Allen.

Simms didn’t play well today but at the end of they day, the big chances fell to Haji and he missed not 1, but 2 gilt edged chances at 3-1 down.

There were many poor performances so targeting Simms is a bit cheap. Sakamoto didn’t take a player on, Rudoni and Wright failed to get balls in the box.

The whole defence failed to clear their lines properly and were outmuscled. Lati and Bidwell had a mare imo.

Stealing a living as a pro footballer. We’ve had our pants well and truly pulled down with money paid for him

He isn’t stealing a living he’s just not the standard required

My mate (sadly) is a Sunderland fan and he loved him. Told me when we bought we him that we had got " a hell of a player".

Fucking idiot 😂

He was very good for us for a spell last season.
Fuck knows what's gone on this season, been poor for both Robins and Lampard

Agreed. He had a couple CBs to contend with and balls just lumped up to him. I don’t recall more than a couple of decent crosses all game. As soon as I saw Katic playing I knew it would be a tough day unless they played a high line and we could hit the channels. He was feeding off scraps

That said I’d still like him to put himself about a bit more and just make a nuisance of himself. Plenty of other equally poor performances today though

What really really fucks me off about Simms is his lack of anything positive
Ok you can have an off day you can be out of form you can even be not very good, your opposition can have the measure of you and be better than you, but you can get in the way, be awkward to get past, be a presence, throw your weight around, chase, stick a leg out, just put some fucking effort in don't just do nothing.

I dont think Simms was the worst player today , but he still was poor and thats a recurring theme

Agreed. Iit’s also a reoccurring theme that Haji is also missing big chances and our chance creation has took a nosedive in the last few games.

If Simms had missed some big chances, I’d be a lot more accepting of the finger pointing. He wasn’t the reason why we conceded 3 goals today.

Something just isn’t right about the way we approach away games and specifically against the bottom 6. That’s 2 points from a possible 21 and most of those games Lampard has been in charge for.

Wright misses way too many big chances and like Simms also has the touch of a drummer but seems to be beyond criticism

He’s not beyond criticism, it’s just strange seeing this thread pipe up when we’ve conceded 3 shot goals against bottom of the league.

It’s just odd target when there were plenty of poor performances elsewhere. Sakamoto and MVE didn’t take on anyone, Bidwell has been poor since his new contract. Allen was busy but ultimately did nothing and even Rudoni (probably our brightest player) just refused to cross the ball at times.

Then there was Lati who is just a soft defender but Kitching and co weren’t much better either.

Simms was shit but everything behind him and Haji was shit too.

Logged on to say something similar, i don't understand why we are persisting with the same approach to away games, especially with these teams that sit in a low block.

You're also correct about Wright. Had a good discussion today with those around me, if we are going to declare that we need to see more from £3.5m Simms, then we should for sure be wanting to see more from £7.7m Wright.
Yes it was a good climb and header from Simms today, which left an easy tap in for Wright, but that was about it, and neither was worse than the other with regards to the rest of the game. Yet i can guarantee Simms has been scapegoated again, without even reading through.

The whole team were poor, all of them in one way or another, but was that down to the way we keep setting up away from home, due to the changes maybe?, goalkeeping errors?, who knows. It definitely wasn't Ellis Simms' fault we conceded 3 goals. He's become an easy target.

Don't think anyone was suggesting it was Ellis Simms fault we conceded 3 mate but some of those more culpable today had an off day.

With Sims it seems to be a regular occurrence.

And yes, Wright was por, but he still has the numbers which Sims doesn't.

I really want him to do well, as I want all our players to do well, (andI think a look at my posting history show that),but how long do you give them some of these players?

Sims has been poor nearly all season.
