Played well versus Blackburn and Spurs this season I remember. He's a CF not a winger. Needs more opportunity IMO.
Agreed but with Wright coming back, he will be literally 4th choice striker. We play with 1.

Get rid.

He was one yard out in front of goal. Playing position doesn't come I to it

Fair enough but Saturday is another game that we wont get much from with further delayed reinforcements if they are indeed coming at all. Waiting until the end of the window is too late IMO.
But Lampard has been appointed to get the best out of the existing squad. He even said it himself:
"I will come in with my ideas and put one step in front of the other and help the players get better and better very quickly. I think the quality is there in the squad."

He couldn't have asked for an easier run of games but it is hard to suggest he's really doing that just yet.

Bizarre to ignore he's been doing it without literally the only player who's played well all season and now without the player who ably stepped in for said player too. Quite clearly it makes a big difference. If we get those back and 2/3 in Jan then its really not as dramatic as some are making out.
I'm not looking forward to Norwich really but hopeful we still have some good games to look forward to.

Nobody is ignoring that but it's literally his job to get more out of the players. We are not a one man team, he says himself it's a good squad & a balanced squad.
We're not seeing much/any improvement at all against the poorest teams in the league.

We literally were one of the poorest teams in the league when he came in, we've been in and around this lot all season. Where do you think we'd have been if Wright was injured all season?

Quoted from Coventry Evening Telegraph today. Interesting last sentence.

It’s been mentioned before that the current crop of young players have a tendency to be mentally weak at times, clearly lacking leaders and one or two older, more experienced heads to lead by example when things aren’t going to plan. Although the head coach has been coy about the club’s plans in the transfer window, he will surely know by now exactly what he needs in terms of the types of new player and qualities to help turn the side into more consistent competitors because at the minute they’re staring mid-table mediocrity in the face, at best.

The January window is now open, of course, and asked if there’s anything in the pipeline, Lampard told CoventryLive: “No, not as we speak now.”

It was "We'll see" after the match.. Which interview have they got that one from?

The underlying data suggests otherwise but regardless, what was the point in appointing a new head coach then? We'd have been midtable regardless imo. Do you really expect King to let Lampard overhaul the entire squad?

The underlying data suggests what?
We'd won a measly 4 games, Wright scored in 3 of them, the winner in 2 of those! Great stuff.

The squad isn’t very balanced we have one right back and five goalkeepers.

Slight exaggeration but I agree. It wasn't me who said it was a balanced squad, Lampard brought it up & made a point of it at his press conference.

"I think the balance of the squad is good, looking positionally. It’s important to have a balanced squad. I have worked with balanced squads and less balanced squads and it makes a big difference"

Basically, don't look at that (results) look at this (whips out spreadsheet.)
You never answered about Wright though... we won 4 games, how many do you think we'd have won without him? Lets keep in mind he was basically the only player providing for Robins this season.

You asked for the underlying data so I showed it, if you weren't interested why ask?

Very hypothetical question rather than factual but, as I said I think we'd have been midtable regardless. EMC would have got his run earlier & I always had faith he'd come good.

Thanks!

I see some fans on Twitter think we would get £8-10 million for him. £5 million sounds pricey

Based on current form if we could get £8m for MVE I’d take it in Jan.

Not seen enough from him in a long time.

Disagree... but what about without both Wright and EMC, which is where we are now?

I fancy us to still be doing significantly better when playing 5 games against the bottom 4 sides plus the team 2nd bottom of the form table.

It's fine to disagree, that's what forums are for 😁

You think we need a full squad overhaul & can't be expecting better with what we have now?

Regardless of our opinions, I highly doubt that is the remit King gave Lampard - he believes it's a top 6 capable squad & Lampard agreed.

Fancy a game at right back then, do you? To say we would be weak in this area if MVE goes is the understatement of the year (albeit we're only 2 days in!)

Considering we're barely above said teams and playing without the only 2 players who score i'm not sure why.
Top 6 this season... there's absolutely no chance! I want us to get into the top half and playing a bit/stop conceding shite goals and give me hope for next season. Make no mistake if Lampard starts next season like Robins did this he'll be gone, and rightly so imo.

Lamps is on a mission to make Andy Turner look a mug. 😁

imagine selling MVE and the rubbish we could potentially sign to replace him. MVE needs to improve back to his best, give him time under frank and itll happen.

The Cayman Islands.
Am i the only one that’s not writing Kitching off?

I think Lampard will play Kitching against Sheffield Wednesday in the cup, last chance saloon, maybe.

Plus he has a point to prove about the last time he played against Sheffield Wednesday at the CBS.

With £8m we could find one, even if it’s just a loan.

Lamps could go and get Josh Acheampong as an example

Just reading a couple of Barnsley threads on him and the consensus seems to be he’s not great at defending but is a good “attacking CB” (whatever that is).

Don't laugh, perhaps they should play Kitching at defensive midfield then. 😱

I’d imagine King will want £10M for Van Ewik, sure we turned down £8-9M for Feyenoord in the summer. King and Robins both said players would go but only if big offers were received.
I’d happily take £10M for Van Ewik right now and £10M for Sheaf if we got those kind of offers. That said only if Lampard is given it to improve the squad.

On paper he's the one CB that would best fit Lampard's style of play. He is decent carrying the ball & can punch it through the lines to the centre forward rather than relying on the CMs to come deep & collect it.
I can only imagine he's persona non grata for off field reasons.

It's why I also don't understand his decisions to stick with Bassette for so long & now sticking Rudoni wide, they don't match how he wants to play.

Lampard is a very passionate, hard working & knowledgeable guy so I can't believe he hadn't done his homework to have an idea of how the players would fit into what he wants to play but we look more disjointed than ever.
