Doesn’t take a week to agree wages. Like the loans last season fair enough if Doug’s blocked it but he now takes responsibility for the results. He obviously thinks he knows best.
Fast forward to Kai Andrews stepping in away at Leeds

It might be a case of saving a week's wage & he is signed on the day we come back to training...

... Or we have a 17 yo who is the footballing reincarnation of Graeme Souness... I'm comfortable with either.

Deals off. Doug would not buy Matty a life time supply of King of shaves shaving gel as requested. Will King even offered a 50% Brothers discount. But Doug said no.

Matty is now on his way to New England Revolution at the Gillette Stadium.

Doug has blocked nothing, don't be so stupid.

We don't start trying to sign a player without permission to do so.

He may or may not sign but let's not be stupid.

Utter nonsense.

depends how far apart our starting positions are.

contract length
base weekly salary
payments for appearances
payments for team success
clauses for another yr extension

James is a stop gap, and towards the end of his career. It wouldn’t surprise me if both parties started some way off ……

Exactly that not to mention we didn’t start on Monday it was only reported we were considering it. If we have started, let’s assume Tuesday as the most optimistic who knows where each started and for how much.

Lads aren’t training currently so nothing lost by doing it properly. Maybe @Jimmy87 has heard something to put this to bed?

Always think the second bit a bit odd. Completely get if he’s said no and doesn’t sign a CM instead it leaves us short but surely Robins is also responsible to get something out of the squad he’s got. It’s not like he’s had a budget of half a Curley wirly and a packet of love hearts.

It’s how much control he’s had of that budget that determines the responsibility. The more things you “take off his plate” the more things you take responsibility for. If the targets have been unrealistic or the wage budget too restrictive it’ll put a ceiling on it.

But yeah generally time to put up or shut up for a few.

If you're in the middle of a two week international break, the first week (or at least part the week) of which the players (and probably MR and his staff) are off, then it's unlikely you make a signing in that first week. No point.

Let's see what happens instead of the constant catastrophising.

Fair enough on the nature of recruitment but still Robins has worked wonders with far far less take the play off year where our main summer signing was Kasey palmer.

Get your point and agree I think this year is imporant for Robins, Austin and King.

I'm gonna have to correct you on this

I've seen proof from 1 party involved in this that it is indeed the owner not wanting to do it when 2 parties do

Saddle bud if you have proof, share it while cropping names and everything out. Would love to see what’s been said.

So are you saying that no talks have taken place between the club and James ?
Or talks have taken place but DK wont offer the package that MJ wants ?

They are very different things.

This may be a stretch, bit I think I know where you got your info and I'm fairly sure they've got it from Robins.
Its not good if he's sharing differences he has with King knowing stuffs getting leaked

I think Robins is more professional than that.

It's such a minor thing to get done really that would help out the squad greatly in an area we've been left short. If it's being blocked its fucking stupid.

Your insight on this has been useful. One question I have though is how old is the info?

As @Jimmy87 was saying we were chasing high calibre players until the window shut. Therefore, the situation has potentially changed materially from the time you had your info, which I think may have been July iirc?

From King’s POV in July, if we were confident in bringing in a marquee CM who would’ve been a high earner… what would be the point of signing James on 12-15k per week to be 5th choice CM?

Whereas the situation now is that we’ve not signed that marquee CM, Sheaf is injured and the window has shut so we can only sign free agents. In July this transfer didn’t make much sense and now it makes complete sense for this season imo.

Nothing differwnt really to what i posted the other day

Robins has approached Doug to say can we have Matty James to help with the middle for at least this season

Robins and James have spoken and happy for a deal to take place

Doug, thus far hasn't agreed as he feels it's 'dead money' e.g, can't make a profit on him at a later date. Similar to the aversion to loans

It's definitely not from Robins himself, he's not that stupid and is very professional when it comes to these kind of things
