Wouldn’t surprise me if Jones is playing in The Championship within the next 2 years. Still only 25. After his horrendous injuries he needed to play, and have a season or two with regular football. He’s now getting that. Was absolutely gutted when he broke down with the 2nd ACL after getting back into our team during our first season in L1.
Agreed, I mentioned recently that if he is assisting and scoring every week at the top of L2, that's basically where he was when he was linked with Leeds. He obviously needs to prove his fitness for a sustained period before anyone else takes a punt on him, but the ability looks intact. Best bet for him is to get promoted with Notts and do it in L1. Getting a bit of a soft spot for them with McGoldrick there as well! Finally back out of the spiral after we dumped them out of the L2 Play Offs?

Hamer is quality. Still believe he would’ve been a good depth option for anyone in the top 6. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s going for 40-50m next summer.

The Cayman Islands.
It's on social media that Gyokores' old club in Sweden, a 3rd division club has received 250k as add -ons for the sale to Sporting Lisbon.

Love stuff like this, presumably that’s a significant sum for them and they can reinvest it into facilities and the like for future development.

Pretty sure one of Caicedo’s former clubs got a massive amount (relatively) from his Chelsea deal.

There's an Athletic article on how vital they are. Exeter netted £4million when Watkins moved to Villa - the same as their entire turnover the year previous.

Love hearing stuff like that. Sell on fees are vital for a club our size. God knows how important it is for clubs lower down the pyramid.

Jodi Jones not in the Notts County team today, hope he's not injured. Unless he is away with the Malta team?

England related.

Gareth Southgate is a F**fing hypocrite, he's gone on record in the past and said, " if a player is not playing regularly in the first team he can't be considered for England "

So WHY is Harry Maguire playing for England today ?

It doesn’t mean he’s worth that does it - we paid £1 million in the 80’s for the appropriately named Kevin Drinkall who was worth nothing

We’ve paid - on the same calculation as Maatsen - £5 million on a league 1 centre half
But at the time Drinkall was scoring for fun at Rangers as he did for Norwich before. He then scored four in his first half dozen games for us and then zilch, useless.
All transfers are a gamble, bigger the fee bigger the gamble.

I remember being in the Kop when he scored an overhead kick(albeit from a foot out) on his debut…vs Grimsby I think?

Also scored a decent effort vs Utd. I think they beat us 1- 4. He was rubbish…but was possibly good at one stage in his career.

Good to hear, keep it up Whingy. Incidentally, he now looks exactly like one of the extras in the Vikings documentary I'm watching!

There’s one of our travelling fans who looked so like him as a young kid in his playing days - and who continues to do so (complete w facial hair and mpb) that I actually thought it was him on occasions (the last being Blackpool away but Banbury had a game at the same time). Might be related I suppose or just the most marginal fancy dress ccfc related outfit I could imagine.

Drinkell said that coming here was a big mistake.

He was a huge signing at the time, we beat Villa to his signing, and we had signed him from arguably the biggest club in Britain at the time (stop laughing - they aren’t now, but back then they had half the England team and were playing in Europe when our clubs were banned. Because of this, top players picked them. Plus, they were getting 40000/42000 every home game when a lot of our top teams were playing in front of less (was it post Hillsborough?))

He signed here around about when Steve Livingstone decided he could play (short burst) and we had Speedie, Regis, Bannister etc.

Signing Gallacher soon after changed the way we could play and for whatever reason Drinkell couldn’t fit in and cut the mustard.

So, a flop. Signing a 29 for big money when we had a settled team back then was perhaps a rare mistake by JS. Odd decision. Signing 23 year old full international Gallacher made up for it though.
