Just putting this out there. But do we know Ashley isn’t a Wasps fan?

Err... because he's never been seen at any of their games perhaps? Or expressed any interest in rugby. Or used his massive wealth to pitch in and help at an earlier critical point in their history, say at Adams Park?

Other than that it's entirely plausible. 🙂

I didn’t know and searching “Mike Ashley Wasps” is useless. Glad we can rule it out. That really would be the worst timeline.

With the greatest respect to Boddy and Fisher can you really believe MA would have any contact with either of them, last picture I’ve seen of Fisher I reckon any meeting would have to be on a bench at the Swanswell.

To be fair Ashley would probably meet him on the bench

Who has said we are close to admin? HMRC was a pretty standard thing because of cashflow.

Let’s check in on my Shugs-o-meter

We are now on a holding pattern until more concrete news appears - this is the twighlight zone where people will claim to be itk etc - as well as make stuff up - let’s just wait and see - IMO
People have been claiming to be in the know for about four weeks and I am yet to see anything prove to be close to true, yet it appears some people are hanging off their every word.

I don't think there's any way that Ashley buys the ground without the intention to buy the club at some point. He obviously wants back into football somewhere.

The only question is whether there's already been discussions with SISU, or whether he'll wait until the club is in enough trouble that they'll have no choice but to deal with him - the end of the current lease being the obvious place where that happens.

SISU, or more correctly their investors, are obviously not in a place to fund CCFC beyond life support.

There's no new stadium coming and the EFL/FA surely aren't going to let us move again without punishment.

My honest opinion; they're gone within the next eight years, and probably sooner if they want to sell at the top of the cycle.
Ashley doesn’t strike me as a patient man. His record of managers at Newcastle says similar. So I don’t really see him waiting until the lease runs down to make his move. Particularly as if it was up to him he’d already be back in football ownership with Derby.

If I am Joy (I'm not) and I'm backed into a corner, either

I sell Gyok, Hamer, O'Hare and every other player of value to recapture ££££s then run the club into the ground (has to break even, but will very likely tumble down the divisions and MR will likely walk at some point early on in the process) The downside to that is the club's value will drop so SISU either have to hang on until we go belly up (Ashley won't care as he will get it for less)

or

SISU try and get more for the club, whilst we are closer to the PL (i.e. now, with a fairly decent player asset base). SISU could gamble and hold out until after January, having sold some of our assets AND hoping we retain Championship status, whilst trying to milk a few more quid from the club.

I think Ashley will just try and sit them out (from a business point of view) but hope he agrees something early on enough with SISU, to make a go of it at Championship level. I can't see that SISU will be able to wait for Ashley to go 'pop'. My only concern is how much they are prepared to milk/damage the club in the meantime, and how much Ashley is prepared to let that happen.

I dunno, I genuinely think a proper multi purpose facility at Warwick Uni would be a better option than the Arena.

Answer me this - not being local. People moan about the location of the Arena - out of town hard to get to. Isn't Warwick Uni going to be the same?

Genuine question as I don't know the area.

Personally, I think the club was banking on the sale of CoH and the injury scuppered it, which obviously led to Hyam being sold.
Could well be. But previous to now I thought the agreed concensus on here was he was sold because of the lack of income because of the lack of home games.

So is the only reason we don't think Joy and Ashley have spoken is a couple of people unconnected have said they haven't spoken?

Fisher said they would only sell at the top of the cycle.

This is top of the cycle.

The irony is, you also think it is standard and will be sorted.

Still, crack on for some likes though.

Oh cry more - I never said it was standard. It’s the fact you seem to think everything’s fine and dandy and normal with our finances right now which makes you so Shugsy.

Easier for me ;)

It's also generally a more developed area already, so feels more like you're 'inside' the city, IMNSHO - I'll grant you that might just be because it's the side of the city I'm more familiar with, however. But most of all, it allows for a vision, a strategy involving academy, training ground, sports science partnerships with the Uni to be built, etc.

And yes, it'll never happen.

And also, we're assuming Ashley wants to get back into football. Things might have changed since Derby for him. I still think he will get us and the Arena is just a pre-cursor but think it's dangerous to automatically assume he wants back into football.

Be jokes if instead of actually trying to get a deal done. Big Mike was just refreshing this thread to see what's going down.

Cheers NW. Yep, agreed it'll never happen but was just curious on the location side of things given people have a pop about the location of the Arena. Rare you get new builds in city/town centres.

Please quote me saying that..

You will find I said that HMRC issue/embargo will be fine.

Why make things up? I am clearly sobbing.

I guess the best bet is close to as possible - Cardiff's for example, isn't really *in* the city, but is close enough to the old ground and an 'old' area to feel like it belongs there. I'd (personally!) get a similar feeling about Warwick Uni. Still not perfect, would still rather we were back at HR (or how about we bulldoze Pool Meadow and surroundings...?) but still better than where we are as far as I'm concerned, but am not going to put up a massive fight about location in that respect.

However, and maybe most importantly, it's be more convenient for the Leamington and Warwick fans and supporters.

You literally said our transfer embargo and HRMC issues are “a pretty standard thing”. Fine if you actually believe that, but it’s right out of the Shugs playbook.

You can dry your eyes, people will stop liking my posts taking the piss out of you soon.
