This is a joke right
Not really. He has experience playing as a winger, and all I’d want from him is to get the ball and run. If he can do that from an AM spot instead of LWB then he can drag the rest of the team 20 yards up the pitch, which we desperately needed last night with Godden so isolated. O’Hare is our only real ball-carrier in attack, we need someone else to at least TRY and do that if we want to be a threat going forward.

Who would you rather there? Anonymous Allen and Shit-Scared Shipley?

I’ve said what I think we should try and why, I don’t think that means playing a wing back at CAM for the first time in his career

Cannot believe we are having the discussion of Giles playing in attacking midfield again.

That is not going to solve our problems.

The whole system needs an overhaul and a handful of players need to be dropped to start with.

Our ball progression is a JOKE so far this season. We need to do something to fix that and moving one of our only player who’s comfortable running at defenders further forward may help.

They’re two completely different positions. We can de-isolate Godden by giving him a strike partner and work on the issues with possession by going to a central 3 of our best CMs in a way that can be adapted according to the match situation

I'd be tempted to change formation slightly for this.

Marosi

McCallum Ostigard McFadzean Hyam Giles

Sheaf Kelly Hamer

O'Hare

Godden/Walker (depending on how Goddens fitness levels are with the amount on thankless running hes been asked to do recently)

With Kelly in it will allow Sheaf and Hamer to push further up the pitch, which will hopefully, in turn, push O'hare closer to Godden.

Dabo didnt look anything like his normal self last night, otherwise I'd have him RWB and McCallum LWB

If we’re going to aim for O’Hare to be nearer Godden, may as well give him Walker as a partner?

Not that football analytics really means much, but InfoGol have us as favourites to win (40% chance us, 32% Reading) and Betfair favour Reading (30% chance us, 39% Reading). Those conflicting stats suggest it'll be a tight affair.

On the form book that’s a farcical prediction

I watched the highlights of the Reading game and their left wide attacker is quick and tricky (Olise?). If Dabo is to play, he will have to be careful not to get caught too high up the pitch, as Reading's main threat seems to be quick counter attacking. Joao has had a great start to the season. We ought to have a go at them, regardless. Come on football gods - please don a Sky Blue scarf for once !!

Dabo Osti McFadzean Hyam McCallum
Sheaf Hamer Kelly
Godden Walker

Wilson, Rose/Pask, Giles, O'Hare, Biamou, Baka + one of Shipley, Allen, Hilssner or Jobello depending on fitness.

Hamer to be slightly ahead of Kelly and Sheaf trying to link up with the strikers.
Not entirely sure about which strikers to play as Godden and Walker may be too similar, so could either play Biamou to challenge for the slightly longer balls we seem to be playing or Baka to try and spring him from a Hamer through ball, as well as hopefully use his size better than he usually does.

Still think it'll be a game best watched through the fingers and if we don't lose it's a start to ending the rut.

Haven't had this much trouble keeping a clean sheet since I was 5

I think we need a boost in confidence and we play the team which finished the game against Middlesborough.
I think this will be a game where we suprise people and we get in winning ways

They are top of the league, dropped 2 points all season and have conceded just 3 goals, scoring 15. We have scored just 2 goals (1 from open play) in our last 6 games and are leaking goals at a rate of 2 per game.

No one will be more surprised than us if we get even a point out of the game on Friday.

Begging them to get at least a point from this. I know they’ve got it in there somewhere.

This being the best team on the pitch for most games in the last 3 years and looking forward to games, to dreading the next game and looking beaten from the off. It’s a big pill to swallow!

They have to believe in themselves for a start!

I think we will be okay.

A point at least, but wouldn't be surprised if it were all three.

Rather than setting up not to concede and hoping to nick something on the break I would like to see us be adventurous and have a crack.
I would revert to a back 4, play Kelly, Hamer and Sheaf in midfield with Kelly sitting in front of centre backs. Biamou and Godden up front with O'Hare sat in behind.

Marosi
Dabo, Ostigard (or Fadz), Hyam, McCallum
Kelly
Hamer, Sheaf
O'Hare
Godden, Biamou
