Our apparent bid for Bright! (1 Viewer)

It would put massive pressure on him, he was shocking for some games but unplayable the next for us.

Even if they reject it, could sign another serious player for that at this level! Does make me wonder if we are hoping to offload Bayliss?

Don't think he'll feel the pressure. We all saw what he was like, but his talent is such that you have to accept the inconsistency (especially given his age).

Yeah, that is why I am bit meh about the whole scenario.

Sometimes he would turn it on, but on other occasions, showboat and be almost in cruise mode.

Be happy if we got him, but not disheartened if we didn't.

I wasn’t convinced for a while. He got stupidly sent off vs Burton and I was particularly unimpressed at Accrington when he seemed to over-elaborate and slow down play at every opportunity. Then he scored a lovely goal to win the match and by the time of the Barnsley and Sunderland away games he was absolutely running the show and looking far too good for this league.

This is a bit confusing
If Wolves have extended his contract on the wages I understand the lad is getting then no League 1 team could afford to pay those wages
Even if they could afford a fee of £600k as reported
It's possible he'll come back on loan, perhaps after he's played in the Europa League for Wolves on 25th July and 1st August
The transfer window for L1 clubs closes on 2nd September

I thought he had his contract extended for a year on similar wages and the £20k rumour was about a further extension they've proposed.

Agreed. However, contract extensions in the club’s favour wouldn’t change the contract, would it?

Therefore, there’s an offer of ‘x’ amount tables for him, but in Bright’s case, maybe it’s not just about money.

If this is the case, it’s not inconceivable he’s unwilling to sign a new contract and Wolves are in position where, if they don’t sell this summer, his value declines in Jan and onwards.

It’s like us with Tom Bayliss, we had an extension clause in our favour, but we went and renegotiated the contract. That is iirc.

I think Bayliss got a new, extended contract on much better terms MMB
He'd been on a modest contract before that as he hadn't broken through to the first team
It's possible Bright isn't on the wages we've heard he is at Wolves
If that's the case and he's earning a similar amount to our most senior players then signing him is a possibility

I'd love for Bright to sign with CCFC, it could be a difference maker in our team.

A midfield three of Allen, Kelly and Enobakhare is quite a good prospect.

You know how other clubs that fall into trouble, some on here say they deserve everything they get because fans lapped up the big money signings and didn't care where the money was coming from...?

Just me who's slightly worried how all this is being funded?

Point of fact: Why didn’t we question our free flowing spending in the Richardson years ? It was the beginning of this fucking end m8.

I did. About the only time I've ever called anything right regarding our club. Could see we were heading for a fall.
Though if I'm being honest, I wasn't there with a spreadsheet calculating how much debt we were in when Robbie Keane was strutting his stuff, I was going mental along with everyone else.

Am I part of the problem for demanding we sign Lee Mills up when he was on loan?

Misty watercolour memories m8

Guilty as charged. There wasn’t a fucker in HR that wasn’t singing ‘sign him up’ that night.

I was getting served beer at games at 14-15 and making the most of it. Most memories are a blur after a balti pie and 3 pints in the west terrace.

I don't know how much truth there was in it as there was nothing in Richardson's recent interview when this was brought up to suggest we were being bankrolled, but I did hear at the time that we were never going to keep Robbie Keane. Inter were always going to buy him for an agreed £11m and they loaned us the money to get him (we only paid £6m I think) for the season as they wanted him to have top flight experience before he played for Inter. If true, then a great piece of business to get a guaranteed £5m profit and a top player for the season. However I didn't really believe it at the time and not sure I do in hindsight, but wondered if anyone else had heard similar?
